If You could live anywhere else, where would it be?

What is it with all these people here wanting the cold.
I dont get it.
If after a month of minus 30 celcius you still love the cold you are sick in the head

I live in Ohio which is admittedly not one of the coldest places on earth. I have, however, lived through multiple winters of weeks on end of negative temperatures.

Give me the cold any day over the heat. I don't want to walk outside and feel like I got hit in the face by a giant sweaty nutsack, which is what summer is.

I only know minus 20's and 30's
Start november till march april.
Snows in may.
Nah give the tropic weather every day at the ocean.

But yeah if you have nowhere to cool off the heat can be a bitch.
I cant take my skin off but can put many layers on me when its cold.

Oh well at least we dont have rain here.
That shit is the worst

Half a year in Singapore, half a year in a rural area in a red or deep purple state where I can shoot guns in my backyard all day.

Singapore is a great place - you can always fly to Australia or anywhere in Asia if you want a change of scenery. Plus the food is great.

I miss this place. Really want to eat there again.

I’d like to live somewhere in Japan. Not sure if it’d be Tokyo, though. I have just always been infatuated with the culture. I would like to learn Japanese and honestly, if I could learn fluent Japanese and afford to live there the rest of my days, I would. I feel like that is where I belong in this world for some reason.
Come! Don’t be intimidated.

But don’t dress like a weeb. I saw one in a Pikachu shirt in Akihabara the other day, and I could barely contain my gall.

Anyone who claims to love Japanese culture and expresses a desire to live here all their life but hasn't even attempted to learn the language is dubious individual I can say that much.

I am not financially stable enough to just up and move to another country right now, so why should I learn the language when It’s not necessary? I mean, I have interest in doing so, but it’s not going to benefit me until I can make the move there. I’m not as “dubious” as you might seem to think. Pardon me for having a dream.

I’ve travelled a little but been in Cali all my life, so, this is a serious consideration as of late.

All usual suspects: Hawaii. Had an ex who lived there and she seemed to love it. I don’t think I’d mind the weather. Italy also seems beautiful but besides that, the culture seems appealing. Same with Japan. A part of me would want to return to my family’s home country but I’m not rich, and it’s pretty sketch.

The very same place, but 2000 years in the past.
I would probably have died from a cold at 25, but it would still have been better than this shitshow.

I like Czech Rep. but other than that I love Germanic countries a lot (Germany, Austria, northern Italy), I also love the French history and culture so I wouldn't mind living there, lastly the USA of course (Tennessee probably).

why does everyone want to go to Japan
Because we are on a video game forum. Lot's of japanese influences there.

I'd like to know, how many of you who want to live in Japan have experienced daily life there, or how you are imagining it if not.

I mean, I have, and I don't have any desire to go back.

You're absolutely right, and this environment functions the best for 90% of the people, and yet...
Then move to Jemen or Nigeria.
Have fun.

That "problem" is not a part of a certain age or time, it's more a problem of your location.

Also, I think most people want the illusion of danger.
Being kidnapped in some third-world-shithole country and getting your organs cut out and sold or getting your head chopped off by some ISIS dumbfuck isn't as great as it may sound.

Being in a life threatening situation you will only be angry at yourself for having been so stupid and throwing it all away for a bit of thrill, and you will die with deep regrets.

It almost happened to me once.

so it's not nice
Lol at Japan nerds

In all seriousness the one thing I fear for my own trip there is having to deal with non-Japanese speaking weeaboos already ruining experiences in Japanese-speaking communities and locales in the U.S (have dealt with that) let alone those of the Chinese. This laziness some exhibit in learning the language is unpleasant to watch pervade amongst foreigners

For long term I think Taiwan would be great because I love the people, however the politeness of the Japanese is a plus. I should have gone to Korea and China this year but ‘rona stopped it — don’t think I’d live permanently in either country though. Economically, Japan seems more safe and Taiwan politically. Plus having JLPT N1 would be worth the career opportunities and I wouldn’t just be some useless loser my whole life there. I feel the HSK isn’t as necessary jobs-wise

As far as Europe, my go-to countries would be Switzerland or Sweden.

Canada is pretty swell, too.

Japan. I took a vacation there a few years ago and instantly fall in love with the country. It's like a whole different world there and people there can be a bit weird, but in a good way.

As a homebody, something about winter in Michigan is very relaxing. I won't pretend as though I dont hate dealing with it directly though. If you dress appropriately it's fine, but I cant act like I havent experienced going outside and having an exposed bit of skin being so cold it literally hurts. Thats maddening. Also driving is a bust and shoveling snow sucks dong.

Still, Michigan is home. It's what I know. I've been other places and much to my friends' dismay... I wasnt very impressed. I have Amazon Prime and good food here... what else do I need? People are so particular.

Of the places I've been to probably somewhere in Italy. Love the culture, food and landscape and I even have some family there.

Of places in general I've always been attracted to Aruba, I know someone who went on vacation there and really enjoyed it, and reading up on it it seems to give the nice Caribbean experience with even weather that's never too hot, no hurricanes, strong European (Dutch) influence and pretty safe in general (the problem with a lot of similar places is that they are in third world shitholes and I've lived in one for long enough). Only big downside seems to be it's really expensive and hard to get a visa to live there but OP says I don't have to worry about that.

I'd like to live in Japan or South Korea for a while. My wife and I visited both last year and loved them. The people, the culture, the food, and the scenery, amongst other things, were what we particularly liked. I have a Japanese friend here in Europe who was shocked at how excited I was about having finally booked a trip to Japan last year. From his point of view, he couldn't see the appeal to somebody in a big European city but I guess this is how it usually is when it comes to the place you've grown up in. It's always exciting to experience such different cultures and he's having a great time over here.

Damn, I miss travelling at the moment.

I'm Scottish and still live there...i agree!. Would be one of the best places on earth to live if it had some decent weather though.
I don't want to shit on Scotland as a place to live, though. It's more like, I am just so happy to live in my hometown (Munich) where all my life long friends are. And the older I got, the more important this grew for me...

Love the scottish countryside, party scene in Glasgow, all the amazing friendly and down to earth people, and the scottish girls that I met were awesome as well.

Yes the general culture/way of life in Scotland is fine, and like everywhere else has it's issues as well. I'm from Edinburgh originally...now live about 15 miles outside it. I've done some travelling over the years and weather aside (mostly the almost eternal low hanging grey skies with more than it's fair share of rain!) i wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I've never been to Munich but have visted Berlin and loved the place and the people/culture.

I think everywhere in the world has something that makes it worth living there and also have issues that may put people off living there as well. Different strokes for different folks.
