If you could personally own an arcade game, what would it be?

The answer is Galaga.

Probably used to be a four player tennis machine.

Oh, and I would have to have Robotron. Or maybe one of the other Williams classics. Joust, Sinistar, or Stargate at a push.

I loved those ancient pac-man sitdown arcade cabinets that that old restaurants used to have in the waiting room. It'd be nice to get my hands on that ....

Hrm... also, when I was younger, there was a Frat next door that would always let me come over to take advantage of their arcade machine. I remember them having a box of quarters at the bottom of the unit that would catch all the coins you put in. I don't remember exaclty what game it was, but I assume it was Centipede.

Bullshit

the Neo Geo arcade machine with Wind Jamers, KoF95, Bust a Move and Aerofighters.

Man that's a sweet set up!

I also mark for T-Mek, but you need atleast 4:)

this isn't true - i know a place that has both available (or at least did a while back)

... you don't remember my Sega Rally 2 crazy talk ? Same place.

Anyways, i have 3 machines - with a 150 or so boards/carts and a mame box linked to one of the machines via ArcadeVGA.

Because of that, it has to be something not available, so i'd plum for Daytona/Sega Rally 2, something like that.

That can't be an 80's playboy pinball machine cause it has a playmate from the 90's on the side of it. Must be a rerelease of the machine.

That was the first pic i found, was too lazy to dig around for a real one. Here, an authentic one

There's one of those at a downtown arcade...I forget what the two games are, but one of 'em might be Dr Mario. Think this arcade also has that Playboy pinball game that someone referred to earlier.

As for the games I'd love to get, there's too many to list...

R360
Sega Rally Joypolis
Sega Touring Car Joypolis
Sega Rally 2 (deluxe)
F355 2 (three screens)
Virtua Racing (ultra deluxe)
Daytona (deluxe)
Daytona 2 (deluxe)
Super GT (deluxe)
Rad Mobile
Out Run (deluxe)
OutRun 2 SP
Virtual On
Virtual On OT
Virtual On Force
Virtua Fighter 2
TMNT
X-Men (double screen)
X-Men COTA
NBA Jam TE
MK2
F-Zero Monster
GT4/Subaru
Spikeout Final Edition

Probably a ton more I'm missing besides. If I had to pick one, I guess I'd go with OutRun 2 SP since there's no guarantee it'll ever arrive home. Failing that, I'd probably take F355 2, F-Zero, Daytona deluxe or Konami's X-Men. Heh, it's a tough call.

Bullshit

I've seen ONE Scud Race machine in Japan (Tokyo Tower arcade).
I've seen ONE Daytona machine in Japan (Shibuya tower).
I do not know where there are any more Daytona 2 machines in Japan (the one in Shibuya is now GONE).

The Daytona series was nothing in Japan compared to what it did in America. According to the Gfront guy, most arcades opted for the "Deluxe" versions with the projection screen, all of which have gone very, very bad by now (the projector/screen itself).

And in +4 years of PCB shopping I have never seen either game on a list of games to buy.

DCharlie, email me immediately with whoever had those PCB's for sale!

I have quite a few already, but one that I'm missing is Joust. I went to a warehouse raid a couple months back and nabbed a sit down Joust machine before anyone else could get it. I noticed there was a bit too many buttons on each side of the machine though. Brought it home, turned it on and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 loaded up.

Someone modified a sitdown cocktail Joust machine for Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.

:lol

I own Cliff Hanger (The Lupin III laserdisc game)... but if I had the money/space for another game, it'd be Gals Panic 3!

I think so, I'll ask my gf. She's more of a "shore" preson then I am. but I'm pretty sure thats where it is, it was in what looked like a shitty arcade and there was a room towards the back witha bunch of older arcade machines like Astriods and pac-man

Daytona USA
Daytona USA 2
Scud Race/SuperGT
Virtual On Cyber Troopers
Air Combat 22
Rave Racer
ThunderBlade
Galaxy Force II
AfterBurner II
Gain Ground

Im surprised how many ppl have mentioned Robotron2084. That would most likely be my main choice too.

Others would include..

Ghosts n Goblins
Rygar
Virtua Cop 3
San Francisco Rush/Rush The Rock/Rush 2049

I sincerely hope you're going to consider a full restoration of that gem! If not, I'm in the market for one. Where was the raid, and which other games do you have? Who were you with? I might actually know some of you guys through RGVAC.

Holy shit, I never knew Cloak & Dagger had such an awesome Crystal Castles-variant cabinet! Someone was selling one in my area really cheap recently, but I didn't go over to check it out. :(

A few more I'd love to own...

Virtua Cop 3
Rave Racer (no mention at all so far, highly unusual)
Ridge Racer Full Scale (possibly the coolest arcade cabinet EVER)

yeah there are a ton of those down on the strip. when my girlfriend came to see jersey for the first time (before i moved to IL), she was amazed at all the arcades and all the DDR (she had to play every machine at least once... even though they were all 8th mix)

and she was boggled at Technomotion, the shitty DDR ripoff with 8 arrows (plus the center square)

One of the following:

Virtual On, as the Saturn port was an absolute travesty.
VO: Force, with the whole lack of a home port thing going on.
VOOT 5.4, to see what the game looked like on Model 3 hardware.
VOOT 5.66, as I loved what I played of the new characters from the Dreamcast "demo".
Beatmania III The Final, for having zero chance of making it home.
Beatmania IIDX 11th Style, so I can stop giving a damn about the home ports catching up while having a shitload of songs and keys that don't stick.

Heh, I'm amazed the Saturn could run Virtual On at all...but hell, that goes for virtually all the Model 2 ports. I was pretty happy with it overall, considering the ridiculous gap between the two hardwares. And it's the only home V On that had a Twinstick-type controller configuration available (good ole' config E). I remember the PC version looking pretty stunning though.

Eh... I think we've been spoiled by Outrun 2, Burnout 3 etc.

Belgdor could shoot through walls, there was no single-frame cancelling, and it ran at 30 fps, on top of damn near every attack having completely different statistics than the arcade version.

It's... Bad. Though, yeah, I did play plenty of it.

Just for the sake of completeness, I'd love to own Gun Survivor 2: BioHazard CODE: Veronica on the arcades (Japanese or PAL).

This is a hard one. I'd love to have a basement game room with about 5 arcade cabinets. Outrun 2 SP, VF4:FT, F355 2 Three screener, Ghost Squad, and a Generic cabinet that holds a computer designed just to play everything old school. No way in hell with my salary I could own any of this... just hoping that lottery pulls through!

BTW, Priz owns for having the Cliffhanger arcade.

They only made 20 of them like that. The pictured one is serial #1 and is the acutal machine they used in the movie. I bought it from the programmer of the game (and had him sign the control panel).

I want a sit down setup, I think they were called cocktail table arcade booths. but I want one of those with the 2 player setup and a shooter or Arkanoid in it. Actually, most of all I'd want one with Zaxxon.

kZaxxon.jpg

Sit down, pop in some quarters and beer.

Oh and a cabinet with 19XX, probably my favorite vertical shooter.
