If you were to be either Sam Beckett or Quinn Mallory -- which one would suck more?

I'm not counting the last season of Sliders -- since that one sucked

I would say being Sam Beckett would suck the most. I mean, you're stuck living someone else's life for a few days, only to leap into someone's else's life at the most improper moments. On top of that, you HAVE do something (you really don't know what until the very last minute) to leap again. At least you have the option of just giving up and staying in that life -- but as someone else (if you forget that the person you leaped into is now in the future).

And never return home...WTF?

Being a slider is much easier. Sure, there is a chance of sliding into a world full of anal-rapists. But there is also an equally good chance you slide into a world full of nude big breasted women.

Refresh my memory about the end of Quantum Leap.... 'God' told Sam that it was Sam that was subconciously forcing himself to leap from place to place or something crazy like that?

Yeah pretty much. Sam created the Quantum Leap project to help people. 'God' told him that Sam could leap back if he wanted to, but was unconsciously not wanting leap back home. At the end of the show, it was revealed Sam Beckett never made it back home.

Holy shit really? Wow that sucks... why did he not make it back, what happened?

EDIT: Just found an answer:

Hi there. Apparently the last few scenes of the episode were written two ways, because at the time it was not determined that the show was cancelled. When it was, the ending showed that Sam had the ability to leap home all along, he only had to will it. What was keeping him from doing so was the realization that the one person he needed to help was Al (he had refused to tell Beth in an earlier episode that Al was alive in Vietnam, so she married somebody else). So, Sam wills himself to that scene and tells Beth. Beth doesn't remarry, and at the end of the show it is explained that Al and Beth had four children and stayed married for nearly forty years, and that Sam never returned home.

It was never determined why Sam didn't come home. There have been rumors that either the show would be revived or a movie would be made for closure, but that's not certain.

Uh that sucks.

*edit: looks like you found the answer

I think it was one of the best endings to a sci-fi show ever (or any show for that matter). The "never returned home bit" always left me uneasy -- not that there wasn't any closure...it's just that it was so shitty for Sam. I always have to force myself to realize that it's just a tv-show everytime i watch that finale :p

I loved that show. My favourite episode was the Vietnam one in which he wants to save his brother.

It was pretty impressing all the stuff Scott Bakula did on those series...Singing, dancing...I am not talking about specialists scenes but the ones he was doing.
He was a great actor.

The movie comes out this year.

Not only that, but the show itself needed a totally new cast and new sets for every show.

Also, I thought the movie was scrapped -- instead, there will be a new tv-series where Sam's daughter goes in to find her dad.

Edit: looks like Sci-Fi is doing a TV-movie that will serve as a backdoor for a tv-series (much like battlestar galactica)

WTH is going on with that Battlestar Galactica series anyway? Where is it?

EDIT: Nevermind just checked sci fi's website, premieres january of next year.

Quinn Mallory would definitely suck more.

At least Sam never had to really face death much, just the pain of not being able to go home and never being able to rest really.

Quinn had that, plus like dinosaurs chasing after him, and aliens, and other such crazy things.

I disagree. With Quinn hopping to infinite dimensions, all he really has to do is stay alive. Granted, on some worlds its harder than others, but for the most part, Quinn gets a giant RESET button every few days.

Plus he got to hit Kari Wuhrer. Let me repeat that, with pics--
