IGN afraid of reviewing Hogwarts Legacy

They are happy to review games that are owned by Tencent though, or ignore Blizzard for banning the guy who said free Hongkong

Selective outrage and very hypocritical.

Not that I put a lot of sway into IGN's opinion, but there are also big name streamers afraid to check out the game in fear of being cancelled by the Twitter mobs.

The game will get review bombed for sure as well. Sites like Polygon and Woketaku are sure to give it a low score for brownie points.

I use to go on their message boards in the early 2000s. In fact once upon of time they were sane over there. Now it's just Resetera light. Surprisingly over there used to call NeoGaf an insane place.

Should be the simplist review ever. Just review the game for its content and quality, stay strictly talking about the game and don't deviate...don't have an agenda, just review the game.

Simples, right....

So they say the game is good?

Because if the game is really bad and they are not reviewing it they actually support JK Rowling, right?

You can't spell spineless cunts without ign.

Watch bagtallia and DF asking for forgiveness on reeee for covering the game aswell.
Battaglia and DF are spineless cunts as well. And anyone else who is scared to review this game OR review it with the proviso they mention the controversy are spineless counts as well. Just review the fucking game fairly and be done with it. Stop letting the vocal minority control our fucking gaming space!

Just coming in to say Twitter and forums are not real life and represent probably 0.01% of the general public who will absolutely go mental for this game.

I also think the outrage is generally regionalised to the US. From UK and EU outlets I've seen next to nothing on reporting about J.K Rowlings supposed comments and what I've read of them it's kind of like "eh, ok, that's your opinion".

I don't think she gets much of a kickback from these games and has little involvement other than writing the original lore.

It could set records whether it's a 0/10 or 10/10.

I mean, they can't win. If they give the game a negative review one side of the will come for them. If they give the game a positive review the other side will.

Imagine not being able to seperate the bullshit of this generation & society to review a goddamn game about wizards. People are wasting so much brain power on pointless fights.

They surely mean they're afraid of the omnipresent alt-right online hate mobs, yeah? Because, if they don't, that means there's actually another group that is actively forcing the hands of reviewers and online companies to fall in line through fear of reprisals. But no, there's no such other group, it must be the Nazi Trolls again...

I remember when the world could separate the artist from their opinion and no one gave a shit. This is so stupid. Just some rich woman author has an opinion and the gaming world turns itself upon its stupid head.

Whatever. I'll be enjoying it day one. Early access.

It doesn't fucking matter how it reviews, who reviews it, who virtue signals, who's woke and who's anti-woke.

I was at my girlfriend's mom last night and her sisters, adult women, can't wait to fucking play this game. I tried calling them "bigots" and "literal murderers" and they said "we just want to play the game, we don't care about her personal beliefs".

The only way this game could fail is if there was no marketing, and oh boy is it too late for that. And don't let me wrong, it could still be a bad game, but don't forget the outrage around Pokemon or Cyberpunk.

No one cares but the people on REEEEE and the anti-REEEEEE.

I mean, they can't win. If they give the game a negative review one side of the will come for them. If they give the game a positive review the other side will.
They're going to get harassed no matter what, but let's not pretend there are two paths to choose for them. It's either "JK Rowling is literally murdering trans people with a knife wearing a kilt" or you're trash and Hitler will be scared of you in hell. You don't lose your job for being too woke.

Imagine just reviewing the game. Not that anyone really cares about IGN and their reviewers. They have a totally random person for every single review, but still.

It's a game, treat it as such.

In a way I undestand, trans activities are ultra violente. In an other I don't, trans activities mostly focus on gay men for liking penis and have zero internet in vagina... So I don't see why all those bigots and straights are afraid, since they are not gay it should be perfectly fine for them.

Edit: of course, I meant Zero INTEREST, and not internet! 🤷‍♂️🙃😂

Can't see this game reviewing particularly well sadly. Not because of the quality of it but we all know what the militant trans folk are like. Wouldn't be surprised if they send death treats to reviewers who score it well. From my experience the "be kind" brigade are always the nastiest, most intolerant people.

We live in a time where apparently it takes courage to review a fucking videogame. Get the fuck outta here.

Well they could, and hear me out on this one.. they could just, you know, review the game without making a political statement about it.

And things like that are the dark side of the internet. If we had mid 90s this wouldn't even be a thing, because nobody would hear the minority of weirdos crying over almost anything.

Not enough genders? :messenger_face_screaming:
Not enough asians or black people? :messenger_face_steam:
Tits or butt too big? :messenger_pouting:
Women not ugly enough? :messenger_angry:
Not enough women? :messenger_loudly_crying:
Only heteros? :messenger_grimmacing_

For anyone who genuinely understands the situation, why has this release become a line in the sand for so many?

JKR seems to have been anti trans forever, but is it actually just a few years and this is the first release from the Harry Potter universe since that came to light / became something she's famous for?

Or is there something else?

Firstly fuck IGN, they're a joke anyway.

Secondly, it's corporations that allow this nonsense to continue. All they have to do is stop capitulating to these neo puritans.

JK Rowling is entitled to her opinion and Harry Potter isn't Mein Kampf. Get a grip.

Bein pro-women isn't anti trans. Some of the trans are anti-women though.

How about reviewing the game for the ACTUAL fucking game IGN? Gameplay, Story, Controls, Sound, Graphics and be done without your fucking input on politcs? So you can review the newest iPhone which people die at factories making it but getting small group upset because of a human biology answer is too much to handle.

FUCK YOU, IGN.

If these gaming media outlets are so insistent on taking some imaginary moral high ground, they should simply refuse to review the game. Instead, I'm sure plenty will review it, put out something scathing with a sensationalized headline and fatten their pockets via clicks. Screw principles, can't be missing an opportunity like that.

IGN reviewer: "The fact that I'm getting Hogwarts Legacy is insane to me and it's only happening because everybody else is too afraid to review it. That's literally it."

Imagine being that afraid of a video game message board.

Exact quote from the podcast if anyone cares. Pretty pathetic.

This just ridiculous, just review the product.. It's not a difficult job.

If they're so afraid of backlash they can just say the game is good but that they don't agree with JK Rowling's opinions etc. in the end of the review. Or just get off social media for two weeks and people will have forgotten about it.

Man what a time to be alive. If you would've told me five years ago that we were going to get a massive, blockbuster, crazy hyped Harry Potter game but gamers and "journalists" alike were afraid to talk about it out of fear of being canceled by a retarded internet mob I never would've believed you.

So insane.
