Ok, I get that it's good console war fodder, and Microsoft has really underperformed since the 360, but you should also keep it in reality.
Microsoft has some top tier studios.
All in all the have around 40 teams developing individual games for Xbox, and have been for a number of years now. They have some of the biggest gaming franchises in the industry. Their Xbox Publishing team is working with around a dozen different studios on exclusive nee gaming IPs. Avalanche, IO, Certain Affinity, Asobo etc.
Do you really think these games arnt going to release? Come on, you know they will.
In 2021 MS was the publisher of the year. 2020 sucked dick big time, but already in 2023 they have out of nowhere dropped a fully fledged game that people are raving about.
This year as a minimum there will be HiFi, Forza, Starfield, Minecraft and Redfall. There is talk that possibly Hellblade 2 might drop at the end of the year as well.
That's a huge year.
To add to that at E3 we will probably get announcements of Compulsions new game, Project Midnight. Inxiles new Steampunk RPG. Avowed gameplay. Zenimax online new AAA game. New details on State of Decay 3.
From 2023 onwards, it's going to be crazy.

The fanbase is hungry for games. They gave them a fish to shut them up for awhile. If they had consistency in their releases, HFR wouldn’t get a shadow drop release like this.

The raving wouldn’t be so strong if they had year after year consistent releases.

Already released one next gen first party game this year, we know we're getting at the very least Redfall, Forza and Starfield also.
It was always going to take longer to release next gen only games, they also support releases for years with new content. Forza Horizon and Sea Of Thieves had a lot of new drops, that keeps people engaged for years not 15 hours and done.

halo saw huge success last year. Received a fuck ton of awards after so many fanboys screamed Halo wasn't even relevant. What happens? "No! Not like that!".

10 to 1, Microsoft has a huge year this year, and by the end of it, fanboys will still be talking about how Microsoft is still hurting from the days of Xbox One and the bad decisions they made back then. Or how they still have a long way to go from the 360 days.

I have it now the third time, but i am also type 1 diabetic so it hits me harder.

Yes i am but its much harder(nu pun intended). To get one. Even weeks after being well again it is a bonerkiller. i simply stopped porn and sex for 2-3 weeks and it was good again.

I also had loss of hearing on 1 ear for weeks.

The wildest thing i know from is from a german hardware forum where i am a member since decades. One member got blind on 1 eye from it because it attacked his optic nerve. :/ ( but he was also an idiot and conspiracy theorist so completely unvaxxed), now he regrets it deeply. I am 2 times, my immunsystem already knows it well by now, its my hobby to cure covid. 3 times fuck me

I'll take 100 AA games on par with High on Life, Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Psychonauts 2 over 1 AAA game and call it a colossal victory. These AA games are the foundation upon which the future of gaming will be built, while a studio that pumps out some airline food AAA blockbuster every five years just absolutely kills all the momentum.

First it would break Todd Howard to see his game thrown out there with no hype. Shadowdropping Starfield would be the dumbest move going by Xbox. I shit on Aaron Greenberg but he's surely not that dense. Whether the rumours on issues in development are true or not, it would be best to have Starfield in November and leave May/June to Zelda.

There is ZERO overlap between Wrg players or Bethesda Fans and Zelda players l, though.

BOTW was also a one time thing, Zelda will never sell that well again.

With that said, Bethesda's biggest releases are Elder Scrolls and Fallout which got big after years of building up those brands.

Starfield is new, putting it in November might actually kill it, being trampled by other big November games like a senior citizen on Black Friday.

They have to release it earlier to build hype and reputation.

AAA is a high budget game and I don’t think psycho naughts 2 is a high budget game. Same goes for Returnal, high on life, or ARK even if they charge full price.

AAA big budget games take like 5 years to make and MS didn't invest sadly until around 2018 in their first studios. 360 didn’t have many first party titles and that carried over to Xbox one because MS thought they can survive on just third party marketing. That is why we are now just starting to see their investments pay off.

With that being said, I will take most of these AA games like hi fi rush or pentiment over most AAA games that are the same cookie cutter games.

Phil's been directly in charge of gaming teams and planning since he got promoted in 2014, and giving him a few months after that to settle in.

The first changes he made at Xbox, and put money into, were not even related to games, but trying to increase revenue streams after losing money unbundling konnect and coming up with new ways to generate income.

Phil was never a gamer, he's just like Jim Ryan, only difference is Jim Ryan isn't quickly running games into the ground anywhere near as quick. Though we will see how that goes in the next two years.
