Along with its default wireless variety, there will also be a wired version of the controller available for those who are afraid of the invisible demons that are used for wireless connectivity. The wired version will feature a 9-foot cable with a breakaway connector, just as the Controller S has.
You can see the headset jack here, which you no longer need an Xbox Communicator to run as Xbox Live voice capabilities are included in each controller. Any standard cell phone headset can fit into the jack, though the official Xbox 360 Headset will include volume and mute buttons as well.

It's so funny, my friend asked me this very question and i told him, well they might but why wouldn't you want a wireless controller...and it's the same question i ask you guys why get the wired versions?

People bitching about battery life on the controller = owned. Then again, the 2nd generation Logitech wireless pad gets something like 800 hours of life on a single charge WITHOUT rumble and something between 50-75 hours of life with rumble.

Looks very fucking comfortable, and I like that there are shoulder buttons and triggers. Very nice. Aside from the wireless stuff it doesn't look innovative at all, but it looks like an extremely well thought out controller....for once.

From an aesthetic standpoint, I love this thing perhaps even more than I loved the N64's controller. As for functionality, it seems excellent although it offers nothing terribly new. All in all, I think it may be my favorite first-party offering.

They already said the headset was wireless.

Umm no, there's 2 different versions of the headset.

1 wired and the other being wireless.

The wired headset connects to the port at the bottom

This controller is just about perfect...it takes cues from the DC/XBOX/PS2 pads into one nice smooth package and give you wireless and wired option out of the gate! hat else would you want?

Yeah, that 40h estimate better be with rumble jacked up big time.

I still think the D Pad sucks. Apart from that, its a thing of beauty

Sort out the D Pad MS! Pro Evo is unplayble on Xbox pads because of it!

Gonna be hard to top this controller IMO. It gives you the best of everything.

Hell yes. This is the best looking controller ever. If Sony wants the best controller next-gen they'd better get to copyin' :P

I love Sony, but the DS2 needs to be changed. Dramatically.

Yeah that's what I like too. I've often wished the white and black buttons were on the shoulders.

It's kinda wierd, I have the logitech wireless controllers for Xbox and PS2, the little ones, and I still use the S-controller and DS2. I guess I just like the feel of those better.

I do use the wavebird though, so all things being equal I'll be happy with wireless.

Port on top is for charging (read somewhere)... the HW will tell you that you are low, and you can plug in a wire to the HW and keep on playing to charge it. KILLER idea!!

I still don't get how the 1,2,3,4 things work. If you're player one will just that one quadrant light up, or will it be a different color, or what?

Are you fucking serious? So there's going to be a wireless headset that doesn't need anything plugged into the controller (ie. node built into the system)? If so +1000000 MS. It just keeps getting better, NOW FUCKING FIX PD0 RARE!!!

Battery life will not be a problem, especially that you can charge them while you play. As you said, the new Logitech controllers can work seemingly endlessly on one set of batteries. However, the simple cable controller being available too is good news. It'll be no doubt lighter, and won't have that buldge at the bottom side. I wish someone could somehow make the wireless controller withough that bulge, it's the only thing that bothers me about the Logitech controller, Wavebird has it, and there it is again on this one.

I've used the 360 controller and it fuckin' rules.

Easily my favorite ever.

Before that, the little Genesis six button.

How does Halo 3 play on it? :D

I'm not 100% sure, but the 1,2,3,4 look clear as if they light up. I think the X button is lit to let you know you have power.

I think one of the best things about the whole controller is that you'll be able to turn off your X360 with it. It's about time someone did this.

awesome!

I don't really like the Xbox controller and it seems pretty similar. I might be doomed. ;(

I dream of a gamepad that's having joystick like the Dualshock and that is comfortable for the hand as the GC pad is.

Greatest. Idea. Ever. I hate being in bed after a long gaming session and having to go over to the console to turn it off.

Yeah, but with the Logitech and the Wavebird that bulge was passed on to the body of the controller. With the X360 it's neatly placed in a little box underneath the controller, so it doesn't alter the shape (making the thing bulkier) of the controller and keeps it out of the way of the tips of your fingers too. It's an intelligent design IMO.

I thought i was the only one to really like this idea.

Yet another device designed to remove even more muscle mass from the already emaciated, hard-working American youth.
