Seems like a lot of obligatory entries.

Does the writer really get that much enjoyment out of the Flintstones or is it there because it's "classic." I find these kinds of lists pretty dishonest.

I'm a huge Flintstones fan. It would always be in my top ten list.

100? That's way too many, unless they didnt want to be taken seriously?

The Venture Bros at 56 invalidated the list anyway, no Daria and Aeon Flux just makes them look even more stupid.

Death Note is awesome you haters! Just remember to ignore the last dozen or so episodes.

Even if it weren't for the story (which is pretty good, though too overly confident), I love the show for it's art and fantastic soundtrack.

At the 2003 Laputa Animation Festival, 140 animation artists and film critics from around the world were asked to list the 20 best animated productions. These lists were then combined into one with 150 titles on it. The list was widely reported in the Russian press because places #1 and #2 were taken by Yuriy Norshteyn's films "Hedgehog in the Fog" and "Tale of Tales". It's obviously a much better list than IGN's.

1. Ёжик в тумане / Hedgehog in the Fog (1975, Yuriy Norshteyn)

Reading most of the list... this seems to be animated movies... not shows... so don't see how list is comparable but okay.

I just swallowed my own vommit

Loony Tunes should be 1st, but only the Theatrical ones before the 60s.... not the made for TV ones from the 60s and after

Loony Tunes is eternal (with the exception with satire episodes which are considered to be the weaker ones), overall Loony Tunes can be watched in any time period and be unniversally funny for eternity

The Simpsons however suffers too much from parodies of the day. Relying to much on parodies that are constrained to the flavor of the month of that time period... make it not stand the test of time in the future when people will go "what are they supposed to be satirizing about?"

This is the straight dope right here.

Isn't this what you wanted to say?

:lol
I don't comment on lists for the most part.
I was just pointing out that they were comparing two different things.

And believe even made mention in OP that was surprised TAS was that high.

This should be taken as an opinionated list that bases off of officially released shows in America and nothing else. Don't take it so seriously.

Isn't it number 2 on the list?

list still fucking sucks

Haven't found a Top 100 List for ANYTHING that i've ever agreed with, and this is no exception.

You just gotta nod at the ones you agree with (Ren and Stimpy at No.12) and shake off the ones you don't (Family Guy in the top 30).

Seriously, I don't get the Batman TAS thing. I used to watch that show as a kid (junior high) and I liked it and all, but I don't remember anything great or amazing about the show at all. Maybe I need to re-watch it again, but yeah, nothing about that show made me think that it belongs anywhere near anyone's top 10 list.

... and what's with all the hate with Death Note? I love that series, one of my favorite of all time. I guess there are some things I don't understand here.

I guess they don't count CG. Reboot was one of my faves. And Roughnecks. I didn't see Eek the Cat either. Or Doug. Or Dilbert. Or Undergrads. Or Ebichu. Well, the last few are pretty obscure.

It's just a fantastic show. Cartoon or otherwise.

It's an anime that's trendy to the point of being on the windows of Hot Topic. Pretty much becomes a hate magnet at that point.

It's a pretty good show, though I hear the second half gets a little iffy. I haven't seen that much though.

I haven't seen the Death Note anime or movies :lol

I was all into the manga and didn't know it was so known or would become so known.

Beavis and Butthead is some of the stupidest television I've ever seen. I also really don't like Home Movies, though I can't say I've seen enough of it to know whether it's decent.

I approach lists of ridiculous length with a sort of top 10 mentality. I look at the top 10, and then everything after is an honourable mention, weighted equally. Even with that in mind though... this list is worse than most lists.

Warning: Awesome opinion incoming!

-Simpsons at no. 1 would have been okay if they only counted up to season 8. Otherwise, as a whole, it shouldn't be anywhere near the top.
-Southpark, Flintstones, Clone Wars, Samurai Jack and Dexter's Laboratory need to be much much much lower on the list.
-Ren and Stimpy and Family Guy have no place on any positive list, no matter what it is.

What no M.A.S.K, Saberrider & The Starsheriffs, Smurfs, Lucky Luke/Red Kid etc. ?

This America centric list blows. :(

edit: Smurfs and M.A.S.K are on the list

I too use to watch Batman the animated series when i was younger and i never once thought it was anything special, i was incredibly surprise to see people praising it so much on this board.

Family Guy over Futurama? No Beast Wars? *cries*

I agree with #1, but only if we're counting the old ones.

Is there some reason they couldn't just do 100 shows, and put them in alphabetical order? Numerical rankings for a list like this seems so arbitrary. Who cares if something was #18 instead of #17?

In any case, The Simpsons (s3-8) is my favorite TV show of all time, so I'm cool with it being first. But the list seems pretty solid as far as what was included, and that's really all that matters, imo.

I'll ignore the Family Guy part (since it's great). But uh..

You think Ren and Stimpy is bad? WTF?
