This thread has convinced me that gaf would make just as bad of a list as IGN has.

Pretty much the answer to life in this situation (And definitely echoing the other guy who mentioned that the list would probably end up quite similar in regards to anime as well. Hell, look at GAF's Top Anime List). Has there been a list of anything that GAF has rendered a halfway-consensus on?

Kind of hard to dispute Simpsons at #1, even though the show has been trash for about 12 years now. Family Guy at #7 can't be any more than a way to generate hits, can it?

Season 2 through 9 were all pure gold.

I realize everyone draws the line differently, but seasons 2 through 6 were unparalleled works of astonishing genius, season 7 was good not great, season 8 was mostly poor, and it is where it jumped the shark (Frank Grimes, obv), everything from then on was pure garbage. As others have said, though, you can't not put it at #1. Oh well.

I haven't seen the Death Note anime or movies :lol

I was all into the manga and didn't know it was so known or would become so known.

You need to watch it, if only for the soundtrack alone. (or download the soundtrack)

Plot in anime is lol for the most part. Most anime has awful pacing. You have a 26 ep series and it feels like nothing actually happened until ep 20. That's common for a lot of anime series people say have good stories. Terrible pacing, terrible. Bebop doesn't have this problem. Every episode is a gem.

Actually, I find that a lot of anime I start watching is usually only interesting until around the midpoint in the series/season, where things usually start to go downhill. If a series can make the leap into the final few episodes while staying compelling, then I usually like it. Ergo Proxy really disappointed me in this regard, as it wasn't really what it made itself out to be in the beginning. Maybe that's why a lot of what I like is only around thirteen episodes. That's usually where things go bad in a full length series.

Definitely Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex should be on this list. If I had my way I would also add Kino's Journey and Now and Then, Here and There. Obviously each of us is biased, but seeing some of the crap on this list...

All of the DC Animated Universe stuff needs to be a lot higher. I'd put most of that all in my personal top ten.

Also 90's X-men is too high. That show aged horribly. Its practically unwatchable now-a-days.

People seem to being wearing some pretty thick nostalgia glasses in this thread.

Where the fuck is Ahhh! Real Monsters... and Doug... wtf is this shit.

Doug, really? Doug was the biggest bitch on TV ever, if I went to school with a kid like Doug I'd kick his ass. Doug's only saving grace was Mr. Dink and Porkchop.

Anyone who has watched the old X-Men series recently knows it doesn't belong anywhere near that high on the list.

No Clone High is a bigger atrocity than no Daria.

and Simpsons 2-11 is gold. That's just fact.

Seriously, I would think no show is quoted more than the Simpsons.

IGN hires 14-year-old writers confirmed

I doubt a 14-year-old would know what the hell Muppet Babies is. I can appreciate a choice like that for pure nostalgia factor (although it was a good toon even if you ignore the nostalgia). Shit like Naruto and Pokemon has nothing going for it, though.

GitarooMan said:
Darkwing Duck is way, way too low and putting it below Tale Spin is basically the ultimate insult.

Uhhh... Tale Spin is better than DD. It's well documented fact that the Dsiney toon shows got progressively worse as time went by. As such Gummi Bears >>> Tale spin >>> DD >>>> Marsupialami (sp?), etc. The only exception to this rule is Gargoyles.

It's actually a better list than I expected, but I agree that not including Gummi Bears at all, much less high on the list, is a travesty.

It was like Hogan's Heroes, but with 4th graders.

I never heard of hogan's heroes until my girlfriend told me about it and had one of the seasons...

OH shit, I just remembered Animals of Farthing Wood, this list as well as me for forgetting it :lol are even more full of fail now. Man it was such a good series and no-one was safe, which wasn't something I was used to as a kid.

How could a list with 100 animated shows leave out so many of the very best?

well if they can have Johnny fucking Bravo on that list.....

After seeing number one on that list = immediate fail. The Simpsons stopped being funny many years ago (and even then it was only mildly so).

What's with the GAF Family Guy hate? I never understood it.

God damn fucking right. Also, Venture Brothers should be in the top 5, as its third season better than 92% of that of any live action series I've ever watched.

You think classic simpsons was only mildly funny?

Yeesh.

Anyway, I like Family Guy all right. The early seasons were the best, but if you want that type of humor (or structure) these days, you have to watch American Dad.

Glad to see Home Movies in the top 30.

Despite the last several seasons of the Simpsons being awful, i still think it deserves the #1 spot for its quality seasons and for the mark its made on television.

Star wars had an animated series?
WTF?

that's what i was thinking

No eek? No Exo Squad and Frisky Dingo is in? WTF?

Roughneck and Exo Squad should be definitely high on that list as well. I don't think Futurama should be on that list period. I despised that show.

Futurama's humor takes some getting used to. There's a plot to follow and everything.

I guess I wasn't in the country for the really classic Simpsons and so I caught a lot of it the second or third go around. By that time, the animation was nauseatingly bad when compared to other stuff out there.

You can't just make a list like this. Most of these are too diverse to be compared to one another. They should have just mad a list going by genre.

Death Note but no Daria and Beast Wars. GTFO IGN!

Just do a list without anime so you don't have to try and make the anime fans happy. They need to know that other good cartoons are out there.
