I've heard that some consider it commentary from Anno on certain unhealthy aspects of Otaku Culture, but I just take it as a sign of Shinji's sexual repression and fear of rejection. In that moment, Shinji saw Asuka as someone who couldn't reject him so he gave into himself and afterword he became disgusted.

I just started this show last night.

I agree, so, so, so much, but I think simply no one at IGN has seen it since it's "obscure" in the West.

Char Aznable is definitely the weirdest omission, dude's like the Darth Vader of Japan. I mean even LOGH seems to homage him with Reinhard.

I'm going to sum up the list's problems with three examples.
1. As far as I can tell, the list puts a shows' main character higher than it's secondary characters in every example. As if their aren't shows where the main character is outshined by a secondary character.
2. The characters seem to be listed by how popular/acclaimed their series are, rather than by the quality of the character.
3. No Kamina.

I am glad for the Monster addition, one of my fav series. Have they made an anime of 20th Century Boys? If not, they should!
