I'm convinced the biggest QoL feature any game can have is an "Always Sprint" option

So I was playing Dying Light 2 and after 3 hours of playing with default settings I finally decided to change the option to Auto Sprint instead of pressing L3 and it's the biggest game changer I've seen in a long time the movement and parkour is so fluid now it's crazy.

Why don't more games do this? before starting Dying Light 2 I basically murdered the ps5 left stick playing Remnant 2 and pressing L3 like an idiot all the time, hell I'm expecting the thing to get the stupid analog drift anytime now lol.

Or another alternative would be more games adopting the Gears of War/Dark Souls approach of holding a Face Button to sprint if they want to prevent players from running all the time, I guess.

"We didn't spend millions meticulously crafting every pixel of this world just for you to experience it as a high-speed, blurry streak. You will see this gorgeous environment, and you will enjoy it. Now you're forced to slow down and appreciate the art" A dev probably.

Talking about sprint, please devs, please....match the walk to the NPC walk...Is so annoying to overrun the NPC in those sequences that is killing the immersion.

I had the same experience with Horizon Forbidden West, Auto Sprint made the combat and movement so much better, I couldn't go back to Zero Dawn. I paid the 5-10 bucks for the remastered version of HZD just to get auto sprint and gyro aiming.

I think the biggest QoL feature would be if I could choose in the settings that a Japanese woman appears and massages my shoulders. But that's just me, I guess sprinting is cool too. (y)

Nah it's field of view slider. That shit should be mandatory or your game doesn't get published.

I don't like auto sprint in multiplayer games, especially games that have sliding.

If you need always sprint it means the open world sucks donkey ass. GTA V didn't need always sprint.
Hammering the button to run in Rockstar games kind of reinforces that you're not meant to be sprinting all the time.

Auto sprint is a game changer in Doom Dark Ages. There aren't any times when you wouldn't want to be sprinting in a game like that.

I'll never get why full sprint isn't the default when you push the stick all the way. It's analog... if you want to walk, just don't push it all the way forward. Problem solved.

developers still think we have digital ds1 pads. it's ridiculous. we have analog sticks for decades since n64. if i want to run i'll push the stick to its max, thank you
The problem is that they tie sprint into gameplay with stamina so doing this with an analog stick and having to find the non-sprint position would be weird.

In Lies of P Xpak
there is a new weapon that makes you run super fast while your stamina lasts and I think it was inspired by the broom in hogwarts. There is also a new weapon that is the first normal truely ranged weapon, a bow and allows ranged attacks with just stamina. You can take enemies into fatal attacks by charging the bow's strong attack from a distance, negating some of the old gameplay strategy. They also added +1s to my favorite rings, physical protection and stam regen along with new rings, weapons, armor, and grindstones. Every new thing seems to be better than almost anything in the main game. I haven't found any new wishstones yet but that's it.

Back paddles should be standard, that fixes for me. In games like COD I use the auto tactical sprint option, and it fits the game, any other title I actually prefer to toggle when needed.

I recently played thru fallout 3 and I forgot that game doesn't even have a sprint option.

Fortunately there is a mod to add it in otherwise I would have found the game unplayable today.

Not really because "Shift" or holding the analog stick full tinted to sprint is a thing. And mapping sprint to a face button leads to crappy claw grip.

If you need always sprint it means the open world sucks donkey ass. GTA V didn't need always sprint.
Or you don't want to be an easier target and/or waste time just walking around.

I think auto walk/run is the best QOL feature.

For open world RPG's especially, I get tired of pusing up on the dpad when just exploring.

I use REWASD for games that I play with a controller and map it to a button so that I just press it to auto walk.

Always thought Battlefield should have sprint as the default speed. And hold a key or double tap space bar to walk.

Also, for controllers, pushing the stick forward all the way should be sprint and partially forward to walk.

Yes in real life I push down the stick all the way when I feel running
