I'm hooked on Zoo Keeper DS

I sort of blew it off when I got it yesterday. I was like bah, this is nothing special. So I went back to playing Astro Boy on GBA
But all of a sudden I find that the game growing on me.

I played the flash demo and thought it was cool but it's different on the DS.. the control is so smooth. It's fast and alot more playable. The music is catchy too.

Quest mode is fun if you want to think hard but the main game is really addictive.
Anyone else playing this game?

What level have you guys made it up to?

It's out. Came out just yesterday.

I remember Alot of people were asking what the top screen is used for. It's actually pretty useful. It shows how many of each animal you need to capture. Also the big guy dancing around at the top is worth 2x score. If your going for high score It's pretty handy to glance at the top screen to see which guy you need to capture.

YOU'RE addicted to a DS game? :boggle:

If you want to sell people on DS games, you should probably create a couple different accounts. ;)

Zoo Keeper does look pretty fun, though.

I'm not afraid to admit when DS games are flawed.
Ridge Racer has bad collision and rubberband AI. The analog wheel is broken too.
Metroid Hunters sucks hard with the stylus (thumbstrab works ok though).
Hitofude is too easy.

Zoo Keeper is solid though. Expect it to score in the 8's

Pretty good review but I think what he said the music is debatable.

Sure it's somewhat grating and a bit maddening but that's part of the appeal. It's a puzzle game, It adds to the tension, IMO.

So

-Being Grating
-Being Maddening

=

-Added Tension

*Adds it into the book of seismologist logic*

Anyway, I'll wait for Hitofude and Meteos.

I want this game. I really do. I just refuse to pay $40 for it. It should be 30 MAX. By the time it drops it'll be impossible to find around here, though :(

Why would you want to resist?

Too much $$$! I just got Minish Cap in the mail today! I can wait for a sale or price drop or something!

One-Line (errr Polarium, I guess) really doesn't have that much longevity, I'm sad to say. It is probably worth $30, but just barely...

Then again, I haven't played mutiplay on that yet!

but how do you multiplay on zookeeper then???
are the gems trown to the other player after you have a nice combo?? Time stolen??

"Hitofude is too easy."

.... are we talking about challenge mode, or check mate , or squarepopper mode here?

Also, how long did it take you to clear all the challenge stages - i also assume that the US version isn't out yet?

Zoo Keeper is prolly my favorite DS game so far. Very simple, very fun puzzler. Enjoying it a lot more than Hitofude, myself.

I haven't even tried squarepopper mode. I don't know how to access it. :lol I will see if I can figure it out. I guess I shouldn't be complaining about longevity!

It probably took about 8-10 hours to do all 100 puzzles in check mate mode... Add another 5 minutes or so for each of the additional ones that you can program fron Nintendo of Japan's site (I think there are about 20 so far...).

and suddenly my desire for this game has skyrocketed :) I have to say it was also very high. The Flash version is bookmarked and I play it quite often. ZK DS rocks.

There is no appeal to the music. I'm hooked on the game, but the music makes me want to cut my ears off, ESPECIALLY the normal game's music, which is the primary mode. What a pile of shit. You can't even select your music, so if you prefer the Time Attack tune, the only way to listen to it is to play time attack. Normal mode has been sucking away quite a bit of my time, but the music BLOWS ASS.

Is it just me, or does this game not support the Auto-sleep functionality. When you close the DS, it doesn't go to sleep! What the hell happened there? Is this the case with the original Japanese version? I really liked the quick sleep in Tetris DX, and Mr Driller DS does this just fine too. It's a shame they've screwed that up.

First impressions of the DS version are good. I like the presentation and the voices are a nice touch too.

Go download Deluxe from this page - http://www.popcap.com/launchpage.php?theGame=bejeweled2

Play "Action" and tell me how the two compare. I can get ZK for $25 but the sale ends today so I want someone to let me know.
ok, having played that I can tell you to GO NOW and get ZK. ZK is a lot more fun because while chains are going off you can still move pieces to make larger chains. it's actually something that I missed while playing BJ2.

My copy arrived today. It's genius. The stylus makes all the difference in playing... It's so much better that you pretty much have to try it to understand.

On the flash game, I died around lvl. 10 or so consistently, but w/ my first time on the DS i got to level 15. The different modes seem awesome. I ran through quest mode once (and did badly!). I really like how even in quest mode you're going for an overall high score.

I shut the music off before it even started. :)

How is ZooKeeper multiplayer then??? How does it play??

I just hooked up multiplayer today.

It's a download play requiring only one cart.

There's only one vs mode, which is a head to head match.

Putting away animals reduces your opponants time. The idea is to make the other player run out of time first by putting more animals away.

The rounds go very fast -- best two out of three.

My wife kicks my ass in two-player mode. She plays this game like crazy.

How does Zoo Keeper compare to Meteos and Lumines?
I am all about puzzle titles on my handheld systems and it sucks that I cant play the best version of Tetris on my DS.

I just want the next best thing on a current gen handheld.

Zoo Keepers is definitely better than the severly limited Hitofude. Zoo Keepers is the type of game you'll be "playing" in your head as you fall asleep. It burns into your mind and you see yourself trying to solve the puzzles while walking around. It's highly addictive. But $40 is too steep. If you can find it for 30 do not hesitate. Easily the best DS game in the US (probably until Band Brothers or Kirby).

I got it on sale this week at EB Games for $34.99.

They were giving an extra $10 bucks in credit for every 2 action games you trade, so I got the game plus a deposit on a PSP and Lumines for the deal.

Less then 4 weeks away for this game and launch of DS. (europe)
Curious if the boxart is not too shocking for some Europe countries because of WWII.

Until that I´m playing the flashgame.....AAAHHH Can´t wait for spring and sit in my garden to play this game!! (together with meteos..)

Great, addictive game. Not even NEAR worth $40. Thankfully, I paid like $29 with my employee discount, buying a pre-owned version. I still think it was a little much. But if you can grab it cheap, you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you don't.

I got it for just under $29 at Kmart the week it came out, the lowest place I could find it. My wife plays it more then me though, so I'd say it's worth it at that price.

Exactly. I'd gladly drop $50 for a game that my wife likes.

:lol :D :lol ...
I hope she is gonna like it too..., at this moment she is still playing
Dynomite and Zuma from PopCap, and solitaire, unbelievable that women
can play games fro 4 years in a row. she beat me in Puzzle Bobble and true Pinball,
I expect a fight in highscores again this spring. Can´t wait.

I was going to get WarioWare but I decided to go with Zoo Keeper. WW gets kind of old if I play it too much, but I can never play out a good puzzle game! I ended up playing ZK at about every free moment I had since I got it earlier today. :D
