IMO Bloodborne and Sekiro are the best and second best games ever made

I will never argue against Blooborne on a GOAT list, it is in my top 3 games of all time.

Sekiro is magnificent, but a tier below BB for me. I've wanted to do another BB run for years but keep convincing myself that a 60FPS, 4K version will exist someday.

I get bored to tears playing 'soulslike' games. Elden Ring, Bloodbourne, Nioh, Sekiro, The Surge 1&2, Lord of the Fallen, etc. I've played them all hoping one of them would resonate with me, but after 2 hours of the same repetitive combat and razer thin narrative, I always nope out and play something else. I can appreciate their merits, but calling them the 'best games ever made' is insane. They are a niche at best.

Except that developer outdid both with ER. (that is not a snub to the other two games, awesome dev)

Except not - in fact, i'll never understand the whole ER dick riding thing , then again, people love min-maxing their characters and the one shot BS with broken magick builds etc.

Also : fucking ugly game with re-used assets up its ass, looked dated when it came out and it surely looks worse 2 years later.

I don't give a care if ER sold gazillions, Bloodborne and Sekiro are.much, much better games.

PS : it's not a dig towards you friend (just to be clear)

Cheers

Interestingly enough, Sekiro and BB are the 2 Fromsoft games I have yet to beat... Sekiro got shelved due to other releases, and I stopped BB about 80% through in hopes for a PS5 upgrade. (Still waiting)

Just cleared some other back log, so it may be time for me to get back to Sekiro.

I HIGHLY disagree with that, I'm big fan of Elden Ring's visual style, I dont give rat ass if its high tech or not but I just love the aesthetics of Elden Ring.

You're allowed to disagree Danj 😉
Also, high-tech and FROM don't go hand in hand (unfortunately) - something which we all know, we're here for their art-direction which is (almost) always very, very good.

Anyway, the visual style/art-direction of Elden ring didn't resonate with me at all in fact - and this is my personal opinion - it looked VERY generic High/Dark fantasy compared to their other games (even Dark souls) - that's one more reason on why I prefer both BB and Sekiro.
Cheers

Psh....have you even played Phantom Dust?

My top five
1. Phantom Dust
2. Elden Ring
3. Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow (yes it's better than Chaos Theory)
4. Ninja Gaiden OG Xbox
5. Mario 64

Now go play Sky:COTL - it’s the natural development from masterpiece Journey and a 85/100 at least in my book. Don’t sleep on the music playing. But has to play on smartphone for that.
It’s a must play for any Fromsoft-fan burned out on Souls-games.

Yes, I replayed Bloodborne too this year and on LG C1 with motion smoothing fake 60fps it feels great to play. Sadly I’m afraid the price hike on PS+ might kill the online activity in Bloodborne Chalice Dungeons and co-op.

Still haven’t finished Sekiro and honestly don’t feel much urge to revisit it. Need to try Tsushima first, although I’m afraid I might bounce off that one and go back to Sekiro. Nioh 1 is not my cup of tea. No fan of the Diablo loot mechanic, PS3 graphics and a Geralt-copycat.

I enjoy all From games but none of them has ever given me the same satisfaction that Sekiro did when defeating a boss/mini-boss. That game is the epitome of genuine skill and reward. No BS OP mage one shot builds or stupid summons like most souls and souls-like users play and call it SKILL lmao. Theres a reason Sekiro is not as popular, it's because people need to actually get good at the game instead of using OP builds and guides.

isshin sword saint should studied by all game developers on how to do a final boss

I never get this type of complain, If I wanted challenge for just sake of challenge they are MUCH harder games out there. I play games like Sekiro and Bloodborne other FROM games because they are super fun with fascinating story and lore, great combat and AMAZING art direction.
If there is one thing I do like about Bloodborne, it is the art direction, I’ll give it that.

Souls-like are nothing but trash with one thing going for them - challenge. I cant wait until this genre dies out. If someone says to me that their fav game is something like Sekiro, the first thing that comes to my mind is "jesus, this dude is boring", that or he played like 10 games.

But hey, challenge is literally the last thing that I can about in video games, where I care about escapism and exploring an interesting universe with a great story, not honing my parry reflex skills. Dont take it personally, but I'm not trolling, I really hate this genre of games.

In a world where games with rich universes like Mass Effect or The Witcher exist, to go ahead and just say Sekiro is your fav game, i just find it really weird, even if you care about challenge, really THE BEST game? nah man, something wrong happened.

This is suck a fucking bad take it’s astonishing. I’ve been playing games for over 30 years. Pretty much any genre you can imagine. The Souls games and their ilk are the best games I’ve ever played for many, many reasons.

Saying they only have challenge is incredibly intellectually dishonest and it sounds like you gave up 10 minutes into into one of these games and now whine in any thread like this.

These games elicit feelings and reactions from me I have not felt for DECADES until they showed up and I’m very far from alone on that.

Just because you don’t get it doesn’t mean people who do are beneath you in their taste.

Now go fuck off somewhere else.

I dislike Sekiro on a conceptual level. Hate mandatory rhythm games in my action games. I also think that Blood Will Tell is infinitely more interesting than Sekiro.

Bloodborne is absurdly entertaining, but it like Halloween should be relegated to an annual celebration as it is so one-note in its themes. There are also better action games like Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition. Not to mention Nioh 2.

Best game ever made is Tetris because it left no real room for improvement due to its simplicity. Every other game I have played has had flaws in its design. Even so, I would say that any game that manages to captivate and inspire the one playing it is a good one.

Having different opinions on what constitutes a good game/the best games is one thing, but calling Sekiro a rhythm game as a way of downplaying the parry mechanic is crazy.

That Perilous Attack symbol works basically like a rhythm game tho. Its almost impossible get away from it with positioning often times meaning nothing, can only be avoided in a specific manner (aka pressing the specific correct button), with a really tiny window usually too.

I'd go as far as to say this mechanic is the only bottleneck in the entire game that makes people say its a super hard game. Without it the difficulty would be just that from another souls games, if not easier.

Bloodborne without performance issues would be glorious, and maybe with a personal preference change from consumable blood vials to limited flasks type

That would make it a top 10 game of all time for me

Not true, for example thrust attack you can do miriki counter do posture damage it or use side step dodge to find opening for direct damage to health.

O even use Prosthetic Tools like Mist Raven and Loaded Umbrella to avoid damage.

No you cannot. I would always try and it fails 90% of the time, unless your positioning is very lucky, even if it looked like you were outside the range. Those attacks are literally trigger based rather than hitbox based. Its something they understood much better in AC6 actually.

Probably the only realistic alternatives, but not reliable as they have limited uses.

I did several times even with Genichiro, you just have to time it, same way you do when some bosses try to grab you.

That mostly depend on you how you want to use it, there are players use it very creative way.

If you want call game like Sekiro "rhythm" game because you have to time your parry then how is that any different any game you have time your dodge like Bayonetta.

I really like Sekiro but i'm not even sure if i could put it in a top 100 all time. If so it would be at the bottom.

Yeah, if you keep your distance it may be possible. But considering the whole game is constantly forcing you into a posture-break playstyle, keeping your distance isn't an realistic alternative.

I have no problem with the day-to-day gameplay, which is how the player is using these items. My biggest grip with the game are the perilous attacks, and as i said it is not realistic to count on them as an alternative to the normal 'press the correct button' moment.
If you mess up just a bit and overspend them, its pretty much over, and back to the rhythm game it is.

I love the Bloodborne world. I’d say it’s one of my most memorable games. I find the graphic novels and whatever they try to do with it beyond the actual game and DLC a bit less rewarding. It’s good as a stand alone work. I still have my art book sealed. Probably will open it and go through it some day when I’m old. Yeah, it’s that good.

How is that any different than most action games? Heck in Bloodborne you also have time your dodge or parry correctly.....enemy attacks and you respond correctly, which is true with most action games.

Then you are literally part of the problem and why this industry is going to shit. Because a dev makes a type of game and then we get inundated with endless clones and everyone claps.
Also, fuck off, you dont tell me where and what to write, it's a forum so I've given my opinion, regardless of how blunt it was.
