Impact of Xbox layoffs on Xbox and Bethesda studios

As we all know, Microsoft laid off 1900 people from Xbox division last week and from news it seems like Activision Blizzard was hit hardest. So I figured out it would be interesting to see impact of these layoffs on all Xbox, Bethesda and ABK studios. I used LinkedIn profiles of all studios and compared number of employees before layoffs vs. number of employees today. I know it isn't exact science and many people probably didn't update their profiles, but in grand scheme of things it's showing us which studios laid off people.

Blizzard 5978/5832 (-2,45%)
King 5506/5511 (0,09%)
Mojang 1031/1036 (0,48%)
Infinity Ward 679/664 (-2,21%)
ZeniMax Online 635/644 (1,42%)
Treyarch 630/628 (-0,32%)
Sledgehammer 580/535 (-7,76%)
Bethesda Game Studios 516/522 (1,16%)
Beenox 476/467 (-1,89%)
343 Industries 452/449 (-0,66%)
Playground Games 440/441 (0,23%)
Raven Software 373/367 (-1,61%)
Arkane 310/311 (0,32%)
id Software 307/309 (0,65%)
Xbox Game Studios Publishing 291/297 (2%)
Rare 282/278 (-1,42%)
Obsidian 281/282 (0,36%)
Demonware 274/271 (-1,09%)
High Moon Studios 264/252 (-4,55%)
The Coalition 234/234
Turn 10 219/220 (0,46%)
Toys for Bob 169/155 (-8,2%)
MachineGames 162/161 (-0,62%)
Ninja Theory 135/136 (0,74%)
Undead Labs 135/136 (0,74%)
Digital Legends 119/119
inXile 117/119 (1,71%)
Compulsion Games 101/103 (1,98%)
Double Fine 85/85
The Initiative 52/52
Alpha Dog 26/26

Basically Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda studios were almost not impacted by layoffs at all. Biggest drop in number of employees is for Rare (-1,42%). On the other hand, Blizzard lost at least 150 employees, but since they employ almost 6k, it didn't show as much in form of percentage. Toys for Bob and Sledgehammer were other studios that laid off significant number of people, but basically all of Activision studios had drop in number of employees.

So not accurate in any way then?

(Dont use LinkedIn for stuff like this, it's very inaccurate and many companies/people do not keep this up to date. We know the total layoffs is 8%, your figures above aren't close to that... Roughly 1900 from 22000)

That's why I said it's more for "Which studio laid off people and which didn't" and not for exact numbers of people laid off :p

I would not say that at all.

We know that Sledgehammer lost 30% employees, while Toys for Bob lost 40%. This LinkedIn analysis shows Sledgehammer lost 7.7% and Toys for Bob 8%. There is a difference of approximately 5x.

You can apply the same factor to other developers, and we'll start getting a relatively more accurate picture.

There's some info already out there about how much of a studio was laid off, like wasn't 40% of toys for bob laid off? you have a much smaller number.

Instead of LinkedIn use the facts first, then trickle down with Linkedin. Honestly, regardless, none of this matters, we just have to wait and see how it impacts things.

I get that, but then you get replies like...
It seems looking at it like this that the layoffs will have minimal impact, thanks for taking the time.

Have you tried counting up the totals? Your total figures of employees both before and after and do you get anywhere close to 22000 total before and 20100 after? (A 1900 drop)

It's not accurate at all. If they laid them off in the recent weeks/are about to lay them of soon it won't be reflected on LinkedIn any time soon. Not many people change their profile straight away or find a new job quickly to reflect changes...
