In-N-Out Burgers not coming east. Steak N Shake still secretly the best.

It's not that in-n-out is bad, it's that it has a cult like status for West Coasters, and once you remove the nostalgia of childhood memories of In-n-out, they are merely good affordable fast food burgers..

I didn't have my first In N Out Burger until college in 2000, which was around the time In N Out started showing up in Norcal (it was a socal only thing prior). Most of us in California don't have a childhood nostalgia for it. It's good cheap burger that leaves you satisfied without destroying your digestive tract; the definition of comfort food

People saying In-n-out is overpriced confuse me. A double double combo is like the same price as a McD's double quarter pounder combo, but infinitely better.

The only thing I don't like about In-N-Out is how obscenely busy every store always is.

White Castle is like a dumpster that every 2 or 3 months is worth sticking your head in

Always funny to see people look at it as some fast food jewel, then again we have tons of locations around here so it's hardly anything special

I'm so glad there are In-N-Outs near SFO and LAX (the airports). Makes it easy to grab one after landing (originally from SF, now in Tokyo).

Great food and a business I can get behind.

It's not just childhood nostalgia.

Anthony Bordain, who's a New Yorker, on In-N-Out:

"There it is. My favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. A city with many fine restaurants, by the way."

Gordon Ramsay, who's British, on In-N-Out:

"My go-to sort of fast food snack... it would have to be In-N-Out Burger.

Oh my god, honestly, it is, when I eat Double-Doubles. I am terrible. And I always bring it back on the airport when I'm flying from LA to London, I'll sneak it into the first class lounge at BA!"

"In-N-Out burgers were extraordinary. I was so bad, I sat in the restaurant, had my double cheeseburger then minutes later I drove back round and got the same thing again to take away."

1. Quality control: There are no freezers or microwaves in In-N-Out restaurants because the company has a strict policy of serving its food fresh. Therefore, all locations must be within 300 miles of the company's distribution facilities.

This is why In N Out will always be the best. It's easy to load up a burger with garbage to make it taste good, but that doesn't make it good food.

In n Out is great, great price and taste combo, no one that beat it. Other places that have better burgers cost nearly twice as much.

i understand it's an institution and all the hype involved but I really just want to eat that burger that Anthony Bourdain is eating in that video. badly.

Famous and highly regarded chefs/restaurateurs, if you didn't know who they are.

Stay salty about a fast food burger chain for some reason though lmao

That's fine, and I'm not salty at all. People simply have different taste. Not everything that Anthony Bourdain or Gordon Ramsey likes is the be all and end all of food.

I believed the hype and had it as my first meal when I was on my honeymoon in California. It was decent and that's it. Completely overrated.

This is the review everyone gives In N Out after hearing the hype for years. I always get suckered in when I'm on the West coast. It's always "meh".

Who the hell cares that it's 4 dollars? I'd pay twice as much to get a better burger and not to wait in the stupid In N Out lines.

I don't think the poster was saying that, and I think you know that.

They were pointing out the "you only like it because it's nostalgia" comment is nonsense. It is.

In N Out was pretty solid the few times I've been around one, probably the best burger at its price point. I have a Five Guys in town and it literally feels like some inside joke I'm not a part of. $13 for a burger and fries, and they can barely season the damn thing. Cajun fries are the shit though.

I'm actually legitimately debating now if I should bike ten miles tomorrow for In-N-Out while our vehicles are being used for appointments. Those pictures have me craving.

Quality Control is a reasonable enough point to not bring the chain further out. Still sucks for anyone out East that wants one though.

There are three American food places that I want here in England:

1. Firehouse Subs
2. Giordano's
3. Chick-Fil-A

Don't really care for In-n-Out as we have a lot of burger joints here already.

I don't know I just don't think most people here on the "Least Coast" really care if we don't have In n Out. West Coast guys are gloating for no reason, it is kind of funny to watch though.

Meh, as a Midwesterner, I'd take Culver's over In-N-Out any day:

Dang, I miss Culver's.

I have in and out, five guys, and habit within 5 miles.

I love five guys but it's getting pretty hard to justify the cost. 13/14 bucks for a double cheeseburger, small fry, and regular drink.

I've been going to in and out and habit more because of that.
