In only 3 hours Horizon Forbidden West is already the most watched State of Play ever for a PlayStation Studios game

It was a great presentation too.

Sony's popularity just booming and their "video we promote on Twitter every once in a while" strategy gets more attention than people hyping up big events.

I don't understand people who bash their marketing, it works.

Nice, because PS5 is a new system we all want to see the goodies on how the new feature will play out for games like Horizon. The story is open enough that I'm not really bothered by spoilers or anything as I avoided The Last Of Us 2 state of plays lol

Don't think their marketing is what really works. New generation system just came out and people are desperate too see the big guns as opposed to majority of the current cross gen 3rd party trash that's out there. Despite Horizon being a cross gen game its still one of their flagship triple A exclusive. Its a no brainer.

You would see the same results if Nintendo dropped a BotW 2 or Microsoft dropped Elder Scrolls 6. As much as I hate to say it, if GTA6 popped it would easily be #1 and beat the living shit out everyone else, but Rockstar...is well.. a Rockstar.

My point wasn't to say their marketing was responsible for the attention, my point is they don't need to throw some big show or do anything like that. It works, it also works fine for others too.

Fans for some reason get aggro like they are fucking up and it's silly.

We are already drowning in products placement, boards, posters, tv ads, radio ads, internet ads, etc. if we could have more companies that respect our time it would be great.

Did you really think I got angry over your post? Lol.

I think there were too many bugs and jankyness for it to launch this year, there were odd stutters etc between the cutscenes and gameplay. Very minimal but present. I think it will take more than 6 months to iron those out especially if this is just a vertical slice...but overall the views are impressive. This will sell gang busters on both PS4 and ps5. Amazing showing and can't wait to slide that disk into my ps5...just give us dat 60fps goodness geurilla.

How is 5 hour pre show respecting our time?

This has got to be worst shit I have seen pulled by a company on its fanbase.

Don't tell me I was only one to got fooled. The stream had 50k people watching.

Had no idea need to read fine print for a gameplay reveal trailer.

You need to have your eyes checked if you think that was fine print. It was front and center on the announcement tweet. It has the same font and size as the time of the actual show.

If you were able to read the schedule of the pre show then you'd be able to read the schedule of the state of play.

Keep eating up this shit and you will be served more.

How come 50k people were surprised to learn this on the live stream? They all should get their eyes checked too?

It was a countdown.

Why even make a state of play thread before the actual event? How many people were inside that thread before the event? How many people posted about their thoughts, expectations and just general conversation about it when nothing has been shown?

300k when the actual show was on. Just like posts ballooned in the thread during the actual show.

1. They didn't read the description right in front of them.
2. They didn't know the official start time.
3. They were curious to see what would be shown during the countdown
4. were altered as soon as the stream went live without reading the announcement.

Just about all of this could have been prevented if they read the description as soon as it was announced. You can't blame Sony for people no reading.

2.4m viewers for the livestream, another 300k for the Japanese livestream, and an additional 1.3m on the official gameplay reveal separate from the livestream. Mighty impressive numbers indeed!

This is the cringiest shit I've read all day.

Exactly!!!!

Now I need to read Sony announcements like I am purchasing insurance. Well done Sony!!!

Maybe they wanted to watch the preshow? You're blaming someone else for your own mistake, and assuming that everyone else was equally stupid.

I was reading the comments on video. Everyone was surprised and cursing.

If this shit was pulled off by Xbox, fans would've been up in arms and made sure they never tried it again.

As is evidenced since Xbox one reveal. Guess who is stupid now.

Probably got that high to the pre-show, gave it all day exposure.......
I'm not judging it good or bad, didn't bother me either way.

5 hours preshow

there weren't many people connected live less than 300K

I wonder how views are counted, I connected 2 times, are those 2 views?

Many of us watched the stream the full 5hrs. If you're basing your opinion on YT comments, then there's nothing else to discuss. You're reading the opinions of the dumbest fucking people on the planet. Little surprise there.

I don't know when this releases but I hope it's not a week before or after Zelda and/or Halo because it'll end up being pushed into my backlog for play in Jan/Feb 2022. September/ Early October would be great.

You watched it full 5 hrs?

That hideous footage?

I only wasted about 2 hrs after realising it wasn't on.

Not surprising when every state of play before this one is mostly garbage

I enjoyed what I saw but i expected more especially 60fps.

it really showed that the game is clearly cross gen

They showed all the locales, and we got to see day/night cycles with the fog machine at various levels. Kept it on in a tile, while people pointed out random stuff in the stream thread. It wasn't hideous, and the Twitch stream looked much better than the YT stream.

I don't watch trailers or game shows. I'll play the game when it comes out. It is your own responsibility if you engage with gaming culture.
