I don't know, I opened the stream... Looked at the nice valley for a little bit and noticed the countdown (it did not seem that small to me), so I moved on and came back a couple of hours later when the actual video was online.
Also, not to be mean, but if you can afford to watch landscapes for 5 hours not be happy about it, then feel fooled you did not notice this countdown... Maybe your time is not that valuable to begin with.
What other company gives you a 5hours graphics sample of their game before release?
Anyway, my comment was more about not flooding the news cycle with noise when you have nothing of substance to announce (which a lot of people seem to crave for some reason).

Maybe you should have read the DESCRIPTION of the thing you were watching? Or notice a countdown in the left upper corner?
I watched the whole thing on a second monitor and didn't think I've wasted any time - just multi task.

It was your fault for watching the preshow. They did tell you when the actual gameplay would start. Plus they uploaded the 4K version soon after.
They didn't waste your time you did.
Edit: After taking care of some errands I came back and watched the 4K footage when it suited me. Didn't have to deal with the 5 hour preshow that they warned us about.

50k people got fooled, this is not that much compared to the 2.3 millions who saw it within hours... about 2.2%, and I can only assume that at least half of those just left the screen there and came back to pay attention to it when it became relevant.

I wouldnt put too much stock into these numbers. Demon Souls did far more than TLOU2 and Ghost and only sold a fraction of units.

Definitely impressive and from those numbers by Benji, it seems that a lot of people are sleeping on Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart which is a shame.

it's a vastly improved sequel, on both PS4/PS5, and the original sold incredibly well
all the YT view metrics are insanely high

Horizon will probably hit marginally better figures than the original.
Maybe 10-11M lifetime sales. Despite how good the game looks I don't think it has the appeal of the juggernauts which sells 15M+ every entry.
10M is juggernaut enough. HZD sold 10 I think.

Tbh, I didn't think HZD was that special. Sure, it was pretty when it wasn't on the desert but I felt all th3 things it did had already been done before.
The story was good, loved how it was built and the mystery of it. Though the end twist was too typical and didn't make that much sense in the context of that game's story.

As overhyped and boring as I think the first game was and I am guessing this will be too, the one good thing I'll say is that at least the game is colorful and bright which sets it apart from other Sony exclusives which I actually like.
I just don't sympathize at all with how much value people put on graphical fidelity, it almost feels like it's the only thing most people care about and it carried the game ultra hard.
But what other games for PS5 that is new and shiny is the game competing against exactly?

Not only that, but Demon's Souls remake is out for a shorter period of time when compared to the other 2 mentioned games.

I saw that immediately. But I was waiting for event for 1+ hr checking YouTube timer every now and then. Couldn't believe what I saw.
So I spent some time in youtube comments section and here on Gaf before closing it.

YouTube timer was set for starting of pre show.
Once pre show started, it was a timer within video that count down to actual reveal.
