EA announces that they're creating their own home console.
My predictions are more what I'd *like* to see happen than what might actually happen. Here goes nothing.
• 2K Games snags exclusivity deal with the NBA and NHL
• Microsoft will show the Xenon and it will be playable
• RARE will have Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo, and a new Killer Instinct for Xenon
• Microsoft will show a trailer for Halo 3 on Xenon
• PlayStation 3 will be present at the show, but not playable (like PSP last year)
• Expect to see an early-in-development GTA for PS3 slated for launch with PS3 (megat0n!)
• First true details and examples of PSP connectivity will be detailed, perhaps demonstrated
• Capcom shows at least a teaser for Resident Evil 5
• Konami will show a teaser for Metal Gear Solid 4
• Nintendo shows a teaser trailer for Mario 128 (at their P.C.) and everybody shits their pants
• The new Legend of Zelda will be playable
• The rumored line of PDA-esque software for DS will be unveiled, not necessarily Palm licensed though
• At least a dozen previously unannounced first-party DS/GC titles will be shown, some will be huge surprises!
• Nintendo will show a collage trailer of Revolution titles in development (at their P.C.)
• Nintendo will at least give Revolution specs, lesser chance they'll show what it looks like
• Namco will show Soul Calibur 3 at some capacity, and be slated for multi-platform release like SC2
• The platform exclusive characters will be PS2-Dante, GC-Link, and XB-Master Chief (w/ plasma sword)
• I believe someone will announce an acquisition of Sega (hopefully not MS)

Yeah, I agree it would be a blow to Sony, but I think it really could happen...
RockStar could release the next-gen GTA on Xenon Q1 2006, giving it a next gen exclusive....the only problem is the fact that Xenon is THE ONLY NEXT-GEN SYSTEM AVAILABLE in Q1 2006!!!!
PS3 will launch Q4 2006 in the US (biggest sales of GTA are here) and then GTA could arrive Q1 2007(per the one year agreement), just 4-5 months after PS3 launch....
MS get their exclusive GTA, Sony gets the game soon after launch and Rockstar gets moneyhats from both...

Just a hunch but it wouldn't surprise me to see M$ buy Take 2.
They want to aquisitions from what I've read and the most obvious is T2 or Ubisoft.

Sony will cut their deals with Namco and Capcom for Tekken and Devil May Cry exclusivity and replace them instead with exclusivity (premiere) deals for the Soul Calibur and Resident Evil franchises, respectively.

- Microsoft eager to tap the HD market is going to annouce the much anticipated "Xenon HD"
- Microsoft is also going to have a playable copy of ONE Xenon game w/ LAN capabilities to showcase gamercards, Live NEXT features etc.
- Allard will further outline the roadmap for improved infastructure within the gaming industry for online transactions where anything from bonus packs for games to possible characters for MMO's will be able to be bought, traded and delievered all through MS's Live NEXT project.
- Xenon HD will be the talk of the show. Halo 3 will be annouced as a Fall 2006 title. A teaser of the Chief will be displayed at the end of games being shown for Xenon with a phrase along the lines of : "Was Earth a decoy?"
- Live NEXT will be talked about : More features, content and player cards will be displayed. Also, the interaction between people via web cam devices will be possible. I imagine that every Xenon HD game will have an option to pop you out to a menu within the console and talk to the person(s) you're playing with in real time.
- Numerous games that have been annouced for the PC will be upgraded to the Xenon platform. Expect World of Warcraft to go to the Xenon HD sometime in 2006.
- Built in Gigabit ethernet and possible (yet not confirmed) built in 54G wireless will be available for the Xenon HD out of the box.
- Supported monitors will range from CRT, LCD, DLP LCD Projector and Plasma HD TV's ; 720p 1080i for most will be the normal output. Expect "good" cables to come in box with the Xenon HD.

- Expect an overly ambitious campagin to win over the Sony fanbase with PlayStation ONLINE. A rebirth of sorts. The idea that spawned Xbox Live but Sony will have a revamped gameplan for making sure EVERYTHING is online in some way or form.
- Loss of 56k internet connections with the new hardware
- Major game developers to put their pledge towards PS3 development. Touting an easier code base to create more content, creatively and quickly to get games to the gamers.
- Expect a 5-9 month dev time on PS3 games. 9-18 month on Xenon HD
- PSP interoperability with the PS3. Content, music, video etc to be swapped.
- PS3 to have it's OWN intergrated web browser
- PlayStation ONLINE to feature a $19.99 sign up for the first 12 months, almost a certain stab at Microsoft for offering LIVE for $70 bucks.
- Most games to be at least 4 player / Online to feature 32 People (min)
- Major sequels to hit. Grand Theft Auto 4 will be ONLY on the PS3. Sony will have shelled at LEAST $150 Million for Next-Next Gen rights for the Grand Theft Auto series.
- New engine never seen before for the GTA universe. Rockstar to retire early.

I don't wanna make guesses on any of the three new home consoles. I wanna be surprised and blown away by all three.
I think PSP will come out with strong support from third parties, and I think games like GTA and other well known titles will make it clear how good a future it has to the media.
On the other hand I think DS will come out with strong support too. Possibly stronger than PSP, ya never know. I hope so, largely because I already own one, and I want to see the system used to its potential:
• Online plan unveiled with ready support from third parties as well as Nintendo.
• Mario Kart DS online would be nice
• Super Monkey Ball DS
• FFCC + Zelda FS online please!
• Mario Paint or new equivilent please!
• Point & Click adventures please! LucasArts classics would be nice!
Some kind of personal organiser package is bound to be announced by someone -- it could/should be online enabled!
I want:
• Updatable software
• Calander with pictochat-like post-it notes
• Utilities: internal clock, stopwatch, alarm, calculator, scheduler/reminders, PC info/contacts sync
• A personal ID that can be used and given out for Email / Instant Messenger / Online Pictochat
• They could set up a website for owners to create their own skins/themes and upload them
In terms of DS peripherals:
• Headset (bound to happen)

Gameboy 2 will be announced at E3, due to come out at the end of this year, will play GC disks, Zelda will be both the launch title for Gameboy 2 and the last hurrah for the GC.
Sony will counter by announcing new battery tech for the PSP that allows the cpu and gpu to run at full speed and Final Fantasy Portable. PS3 will come out March 2006 in Japan.
XBox 360 and Nintendo Revolution will be the same, Nintendo will release its own brand of controllers for the new console that will allow extra functionality. This new console will be backwards compatible with the Cube and not the XBox. Halo, Halo 2 and a bunch of other Xbox hits will be ported for the cube to support the Gameboy 2 launch, XBox owners who already own these games will be able to trade in their old copies so they can play the GC versions of the XBox hits on the new 360/Rev console as well as the Gameboy 2.
