I don’t think the issue is that this change might spoil the movie, more the reason behind the change.

The issue in my mind is that creativity seems to becoming more and more stymied by this relentless virtue signalling march to see that nobody is in the least bit offended, in any way, shape or form, by utterly innocuous factors. The intent doesn’t seem to matter anymore, you just need to steer the ship into calmer waters.
