In appreciation (or lack thereof) of George Lucas' Super Special - For Now! - DVD Trilogy Edition of Star Wars, let us answer the most important question the next generation of our planet must face...

WHAT ORDER WILL YOU AND YOUR KIDS WATCH STAR WARS?

In the way many of us remember, that being IV, V, VI, I, II and III (and thus making Darth Vader's most memorable line that much more memorable) or the nu-Star Wars timeline of I, II, III, IV, V and VI?

I'll be skipping ep1 everytime :)

Oh and Ill do the "nu-star wars timeline"

And deprive your kids of the most definitive moment in the series? You bastard!

I'm going to chuck the boxes at them and whichever one they catch they watch.

Haha! I actually laughed out loud to that one.

My kids won't be allowed to watch Episodes I or II, and probably III if those other two are any indication.

THOSE MOVIES WILL NOT EXIST IN MY HOUSE!

haha, a quick look at the title of this topic I thought this was another Star Wars Kid thread.

Anyways... I'll never show my kids, if I ever have kids, Ep 2. Ep 1 was OK but Ep 2 was complete garbage. I'll start with Four and treat 1 and 3 like prequels like they are now.

I think I'll expose them to episodes 1,2, and 3 first, and then probably a few years later when they are 'teh mature' I'll show them the real trilogy.

I don't think episodes 4,5 and 6 will capture their imagination as well as the first 3 will be able to, unless they were a little older. 1,2, and 3 could be watched when they are younger than 4,5 and 6 I think.

Any others besides me who liked Ep 2? (im a bit obsessive when it comes to Portman though :D )
I liked it quite a bit. Both Ep 1 & 2 were both cheese fests with great special effects but I enjoyed them for what they were anyways.

And even i am moderately surprised
"THOSE MOVIES WILL NOT EXIST IN MY HOUSE!"

IAWTP.

+ they will have to be distracted during the Ewok scenes so they don't see how shitty it is.

I will let my kids, if I ever have any, watch the LOTR trilogy and just skip out on Star Wars.

*Calls children's services to have firex put on a permanent watch list*

This is the order my kids will be exposed to:

1. Star Wars (1995 THX Laserdisc)
2. The Empire Strikes Back (1995 THX Laserdisc)
3. Return Of The Jedi (1995 THX Laserdisc)
4. The Empire Strikes Back (1995 THX Laserdisc)
5. The Empire Strikes Back (1995 THX Laserdisc)
6. The Empire Strikes Back (1995 THX Laserdisc)

So the order will be:

Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

Good one :D

Your daughter will bring home your worst nightmare one day, it's fate. Keep talking.

Nobody uses laser discs anymore. Get over it.

My, aren't you a little [stupid/retarded/idiotic/dim-witted]... take your pick. You only have two choices of watching the original version of the Star Wars trilogy. VHS or Laser Disc. Hmm, I think I'll go with LaserDisc's increased resolution and uncompressed PCM sound. There are many, many, films that are still not available on DVD, and may never be released. The only way to watch the theatrical cut of Blade Runner is on Laser Disc. There are many supplements on LD's that never made it over to their DVD counterpart. Nobody uses Laser Discs anymore? Funny, there seem to be thousands of fans of them talking on the internet about them. Check out eBay. Laser Discs and their players are being bought and sold, all the time. I guess "nobodies" are buying them.

Wow. I didnt know so many people like Laser Discs. guess Im wrong.

I think ill go out and buy one...

...wait no I wont.

There is reason those movies dont get made into DVDs. Because they suck and nobody would buy them. If there was a demand for this stuff they would do it to make more of your money, but there isnt so why bother. Nobody cares, nobody except the people who care about laser discs and their opinions dont matter anyways.

There's no demand for the original versions of the Star Wars trilogy?

[insert head-scratching emoticon here]

No. People demand DVD and we are getting it. Nobody cares about the original shit version with dark blue darth vader and no CGI.

Hm....If I have children they can watch whatever they want, I dont' give a damn. I would prefer them to watch them by original trilogy, then if they want, the prequels.

And for the record...I can only see arguments coming from this thread...

Is AeroGod just running with a joke here? Or is he a joke character? I can't believe that there's even a possibility that someone could think like that in real life.

No, every (sane) person would agree that on the first 3 movies to be shown.

In the way they were release, I don't think chronological order was ever intended by Lucas even despite his claims about why he jumped into the middle and whatnot. It just wouldn't make things quite as exciting. I wouldn't want to have my kids miss the surprise and shock of Vader's confession to Luke. Or That Luke and Leia are siblings. That's just a key feeling in Star Wars that I want them to feel as well.

Though if my original VHS copies ares till working, I might show them that before the DVDs... maybe. Can't really be sure. It's not that I'm bothered by the changes, it's more that I was used to seeing them in that manner and no other way. Of course they'd watch the DVDs afterwards, but uh gotta make them suffer through shitty tech for a while. :p

Alphabetically by subtitle ( - part of speech)

Attack of the Clones
Empire Strikes Back
New Hope
Phantom Menace
Return of the Jedi
Revnege of the Sith

which strangly pairs each respective portion of the two trilogies.

Does anyone know of website that points out the differences between the original SW films and the 'enhanced' re-release theatrical films (and 'super enhanced' DVD releases now)

Damn, I wonder why Lucas just doesn't go ahead and re-shoot all three films with today's technology instead of re-enhancing them all the time.

No. People demand DVD and we are getting it. Nobody cares about the original shit version with dark blue darth vader and no CGI.
You are so funny...

Let's go fake-color all the famous B&W movies, like Casablanca, while we are at it. Wait, some retards did that once, and everyone laughed at them. And yeah, let's re-write Shakespeare a bit, what's up with all those obsolete words he's been using?

Notice the big mouth on his avatar?

1. Star Wars
2. The Empire Strikes Back
3. Return of the Jedi

A crazy hermit will give them DVD copies of the shitty new trilogy after I'm dead and tell them, "Your father wanted you to see these when you were old enough, but your uncle wouldn't allow it. He was afraid you'd become bitter and angry at go on some damn-fool, idealistic crusade to kill Lucas like your father."

The order will be Phantom Menace > Attack of the Clones > A New Hope > Empire Strikes Back > Revenge of the Sith > Return of the Jedi

That way they'll hopefully gain more appreciation for the original trilogy, and the shock of Anakin being Darth Vader will be greater.

I'm going to make them watch the Star Trek movie where they have to save that whale in San Fransisco.

I love kids, but I'll probably hate my own.

Yes. If your kids are stupid.

I haven't seen Episode 2, but do they make it apparent that Anakin = Luke's dad in it?

Or is Anakin referred to as Anakin Skywalker or Skywalker in the first two movies?
