Indiana Jones will not be recast - says producer

But Ford is too old and isn't getting any younger, they really should have taken the Bond route.

Also they better not bring back Shia in Indiana Jones 5 or I will just skip it.

I really want the next Indiana Jones movie to have something to do with the egyptian gods as a mcguffin or having to do with china.

What this tells me is that the next person to "star" in the franchise after Harrison Ford will simply not be playing Indiana Jones, but a different character.

Yeah, it will be his son, Oklahoma Jones.

Yeah Rebels/Clone Wars style with a dash of Mystery Incorporated(random quests contributing to something bigger going on).

maybe a bit of Mystery incorporated's art as well.

Already picturing an intro that instead of showing all heroic moments has blunders from the movies litered in going into a credit splash.

Where did this come from? That looks cool. I'd much rather they continue Indy's adventures via this method than producing another film with an aged Ford, recast, or 'the adventures of Mutt Williams.'

Works for me. I'm not a massive fan of recasting and Bond is probably only place I kind of accept it (and Doctor Who of course - must be a British icon thing).

Let Ford have the iconic association and come up with new franchises and characters.

Frank Marshall is being dumb right now.

Whenever he has the talk he says he wants to have someone's going to tell him so.

They're gonna recast.

Time waits for no man, eventually Ford will die, and you will have to recast the role, I think it's time to just recast the role..

If you do a new character, it's essentially a new franchise.

If you want to continue using Indiana Jones, you have to recast.

Shit or get off the pot, I say.

They will probably have Ford narriating stories as Indy, possibly going over artifacts he had collected and are residing in a museum. Then you have a younger guy doing the action scenes. This way, Ford is Indy, yet we still get something plausible.

And I like it this way. A new character leaves room for a minority lead, or a female lead. Plenty of possibilities while not having to mess with the classic persona and looks of Indiana Jones.

Indy is an archaeologist and I think it makes more sense that he is played by an older man so Harrison is still perfect for the role. I don't get why people want to young buff guy to play him especially when Ford is still capable.

Do you understand the appeal of Indiana Jones? I mean, do you genuinely believe people watch those films because of the archaeology?

Have Ford provide bookends to an earlier adventure with a new actor in the role OR do a split thing that's half young Indy in the past and Ford-Indy picking up the same story in the (relative) present. That way you get Ford in there for one more movie, and you establish a new guy to take over as young Indy for future movies without going the straight recasting route a la Bond.

Yes. Indy running all over the world to visit a interesting site is big part of the movies. They're not all just about non-stop action.

Have you ever watched an Indiana Jones movies? Ford is too old to do any of the stunts.

So unless you want to watch a stunt double doing the work, with Ford's face being GCI in.

Why don't they just cast Nathan drake

Ew... no wants to watch a mass murderer.

What about Idris Elba?

I am okay with this.

It's simple: you open with Harrison Ford in bed talking about his old adventures and then you cut to a new actor playing Indy.

Done. Send me a check Spielberg.

Holy crap some of you are acting as Ford cant run, shoot a gun or do some stunt punches if it comes to it. He still looks fit and capable.

This was him a week ago...

This is great news to me, Ford IS Indiana Jones.
If you must continue the franchise let it be about a new character.
I just hope Ford gets one more film to himself before the baton is passed.

Ditto. Leave the Bond route to Bond. Also love that they are talking about getting another lead since Shia sucks and obviously burned bridges ("He's a fucking idiot" - Harrison Ford).

Bring back Harrison Ford, Spielberg, John Williams, and Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders, Empire Strikes Back).... get rid of Lucas & Shia...and we've got a proper sendoff in the making
