Indivisible: Valkyrie Profile/Metroid, Indiegogo, PC/Mac/Linux/PS4/XB1 -- funded!

Original Baozhai was far and beyond better but I guess they were having serious animations issues if they went for something far more basic. I don't understand why they couldn't keep her hairstyle and badass shoulder pads though, with that eye-patch... I like that more mature look see had because it screamed I'm a veteran badass.

Now she looks like a early 20's, wannabe hipster asian doing cosplay, I mean seriously if you don't zoom in the eye-patch looks like a strained of her hair has been dyed red, it's just looks lame.

I agree, more or less. I can take or leave the hairstyle, but the cannons, the big draw of her character, just look so...bland. They're just rectangles with a slightly flared tip, and they look really simple in comparison to Phoebe's bow and arrow. That, and the way she carries them is weird. It's like some...anchor backpack, I guess? I'm not sure I really get why they went with that over something shoulder mounted. I suppose it'd block her face when facing right, but since they've already changed it so they flip back for the new model, I don't see why that wouldn't work for a single cannon.

It's a bummer, because Baozhai was one of my favorite designs during the campaign, and now she's just...kinda "enh".

I was bored so I made/edited this quick Incarnation confirmation chart.

You are both wonderful and a fucking monster

I do what I can.

This makes me very happy. I was worried that as a post goal stretch it might not get met. Never so glad to be so wrong. You mentioned wanting fairly unknown actors that represent the areas the characters are based on, is that still correct?

Not unknown, exactly: SAG-AFTRA actors.

With this game's cast, we felt we needed a wider range of vocal talent, and needed to draw on more than the same voices you hear in every other anime / video game.

Doesn't necessarily mean we won't tap some of the Skullgirls crew, though.

I'm not sure I really get why they went with that over something shoulder mounted.

It happened naturally through design and gameplay iteration, but I believe there were also some concerns that the cannon was too big and asymmetrical and it'd be really noticeable if it popped from one shoulder to another.

Tangibly related, I wonder if the Indivisible political protest movement in the US will have any affect on the game. (Maybe prompt a subtitle?)

So far the only thing I've seen is that we've been accidentally tagged in one or two political posts, and someone messaged our FB page to ask if any meet-ups were happening in Connecticut.

It's missing the tune that plays on the PS4 dynamic theme. :-(
That track is heavenly.

Going to put this out before too long - it'll be the last piece I post before we start getting to new stuff.

Heh, interesting. Seems like it's getting pretty big so I imagine there will be some more of those in the future.

Maybe you'll attract some new politically minded RPG fans at the same time.

While that would mesh well with my personal politics, we are staying far, far away from anything overtly political in this climate.

When's Thorani?

Also I know you made Pheobe taller but she also looks a lot more lanky than she did before (and her thighs seems unusually long?) whereas she had a stockier look before. Intentional?

Are these all to scale? If Ajna is about 5'3" (which is what I feel I remember Ravidrath or someone on the team saying) then that would mean Dhar & Qadira are about 6'5" but Baozhai is about 6'10" and Pheobe is about 8'10". That seems unlikely for the latter two?

Phoebe is an Amazonian. They're really tall.

Also they no can dunk, but good fundamentals

Something tells me seeing her in motion will make up for people's gripes about her re-design

LabZero has a few videos of progress on her basic harpoon toss already in their Twitch archives.

I thought all incarnations were going to be playable, though..?

Via Ravi earlier in the thread:
All the Incarnations we revealed for the campaign were intended to be playable, yes.

Not all of them made the cut, but I'm not going to confirm or deny anything now. In part because some of them are wishlist beyond the 25 I mentioned in the update.

I thought all incarnations were going to be playable, though..?

Like UltimaDrago noted, the intent was that they'd all be playable, but we had to make adjustments after the project was funded for scheduling / game balance reasons.

Whenever possible we're going to keep cut characters as NPCs or Inner Realm Incarnations.

I'm still sad about that, though I guess on the bright side you now know how to better budget future games. However I'm glad you're getting this out of the way early.
If you dropped the redesigned characters and cut cast only a few months from launch I'm not sure you'd survive the outrage.

The original number was based on the animations in the prototype, and we decided that we needed more animations to make battles better.

i.e. The characters now all have forward and backwards movement instead of the dash/glide they had in the prototype, unique supers, and adding those animations to every character meant needing to cut back on the number of characters.

Are you guys planning on announcing the ones who didn't make the cut soon? The waiting has me nervous

Hey Ravi, does LabZero play console games in the office (leisurely)? I wonder with the Switch launch if someone will bring their console in for Show-and-Tell. lol

What do you mean by unique supers? What changed?

While late to the party, I am loving Bao's new look! Gives me Ruby Heart vibes~

Hope Nuna is playable and doesn't change much.....but then again you guys always pick the best designs so you might be able to surprise me if you re-design her.

Lately the artists have been playing Seaman and posting about it on Twitter.

As Samemind said, all the supers in the prototype were mostly combos reusing existing animations.

In the final game all the characters will have unique super animations.

Stuff like we showed here for Razmi, Tungar and Zebei:

The next piece I post will be an all-new track!

Also: we're less than $2000 away from hitting the Full VO stretch goal!

If only 63 people upgrade from the Digital Game tier to the Physical Collector's Edition tier, we'll be there!

So Ravidrath, how much of that art that Alex posted recently about Baozhai can we take to heart (see above)? I noticed her design in that art doesn't match up exactly with the art that seems to be getting animated. Which is correct?

Also, is that picture with the full revealed playable cast to scale? Are all the characters drawn in that image to the same scale? As I mentioned above, the heights seem a bit off?

Today we got an update with the lovely music that I believe everyone is listening and I mean everyone!

Yay! This is the one I was waiting for. :-)

I'll be backing the collector's edition shortly! :-)

When we give money to the tip jar does that help?

Slap on those Lanshi plushie add-ons so I can give more~

I hadn't heard this piece yet so it was a nice surprise. :)

The model sheet is the final Baozhai design - Alex's art are concept sketches from before we had settled on the final design.

And that should be to scale!

When we give money to the tip jar does that help?

If it's new money, yes. If it's credit you have leftover from IGG, no.

And while of course we appreciate the tips, I'd honestly rather you get something for your money, even if it means buying another item to give to a friend, etc.

If you have a PS4, it's the same song that plays in the Indivisible dynamic theme!

I can't get over how much Baozhai reminds me of the Navarch set for Corsair in FFXI - I recall a couple of nods to the game in Skullgirls, but those were references to much older aspects of it.

Purely coincidental, because I haven't played FFXI since... 2007 or so?

And while of course we appreciate the tips, I'd honestly rather you get something for your money, even if it means buying another item to give to a friend, etc.

You just want us to funnel more money!

More seriously, I'd be willing to buy another physical copy if this ever goes to Switch.

I guess the skull/crossbone bit on her chest was too hard to animate? It looked cool so that's a bummer. Can we expect the four cannon shot, grappling hook and cannon rocket boosters to show up in the actual game?

As for the scale, if that is true, can you address this post I made earlier:

When's Thorani?

Also I know you made Pheobe taller but she also looks a lot more lanky than she did before (and her thighs seems unusually long?) whereas she had a stockier look before. Intentional?

If that image is to scale then some of those images seem implausible?

The team has released a survey in their twitter.
While most of it is normal survey thingies, it asks specifically about the Switch, if you have one, if you'd be interested in a Switch version, etc.
So go do the survey if you want the game to come to the platform!

The question on the intent to buy a Switch lacks an option along the lines of "it looks interesting, but nothing so far has convinced me to buy it yet", since that's where I currently stand, most responses there make it seem either like a matter of time or an absolute rejection. I'm not that much into Zelda, but announce a new Smash Bros, some new SNK exclusive, the 2nd coming of Fighters Megamix and/or Project X Zone 3 for the thing and it definitely gets my attention.
