inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

Finally beat the game today. I won't comment on the ending because I didn't like the storyline/characters in the first place, so the ending is a moot point.

Overall I thought it was a pretty fun game. It could have been a great game but I think it has too many flaws, most notable being repetitiveness (by the third district I trudged my way through the side missions). I also really wish there was some type of fast travel between clinics in the game or something. Relying solely on power lines or train/train tracks was a bad decision (imo).

The main game was pretty fun, I would have liked it a lot more had I not done the side missions. The only main mission I hated (off the top of my head) was the hot air balloon one, mainly because of all the backtracking, and the fact they put the balloons around long stretches where there weren't buildings tall enough to jump on them.

And the flying machines are the most annoying enemies ever!

I have to say I wish I went pure evil instead of good. I always thought "I'll just do evil on second play through", but I sincerely doubt I'll beat this a second time. Now that I have 100% all territories though, I might actually go shard hunting and dead drop hunting.

If my save says '20 of 21 stunts', and the stunt description on the pause screen says 'Stunt 20 of 21: Suspended Sentence', does that mean that i've got 2 stunts left, or 1? I know I won't get the Ligthning Storm until much later in the game (I just tackled the Warren), so I don't want to waste any opportunity for the hypothetical other stunt...

Yeah when you get the lighting storm you can do the final stunt you only have one more to go.

Struggling to get through my second play through of the game as evil. It really does get a bit tedious. First time around was awesome though.

Happy days. Got my Platinum Trophy. I did all the tough stuff the first time though. Hard, Shards, Districts. Finished the game on Easy / Evil second time through, although I had a few stunts to complete.

The game was great and all but achieving the Plat calls for you to go above and beyond. Quite honestly, it became tedious. Healing 250 pedestrians and collecting 350 shards is yawn inducing and adds nothing to the experience considering the main story section is relatively short. It almost felt like Sucker Punch added these crappy trophies to pad the game out.

Anyway, it's done now. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Yeah I found the second play through to be extremely tedious even though I changed from good to bad. For me, it became a trophy hunt instead of being a entertaining experience. Good memories nonetheless. I don't think I'll ever understand how developers manage to stay sane when they play the same game for years xD

Bought this game due to partner's sister wanting to see what it was like. I said that it seemed relatively good in the eyes of the plebs but I wasn't interested in it at first.

Not a bad game, some camera issues and control problems related to myself and the sticky-character coded for platforms. But what the heck is it with all these damn sewers? I get to the next island after destroying that crazy Sasha woman, and the first thing I get to do? GO BACK DOWN INTO THE SEWERS COLE!

I know it unlocks more abilities and such, but it's beyond repetitive now, especially with these garbage bag goons that take forever to kill. Still I'll try and battle through it and see how it goes.

I've been itching to discuss the story because I think overall, it's a very deep plot that I feel I need to talk "out loud" about and get input from others to truly take it all in. *Wall of black*

Kessler witnesses a being, that he calls his nemesis, wipe out his city and later claim the life of his loved ones. So with his newly gained powers as a result of the attack, he goes back in time to take over leadership of the First Sons by kicking young Alden to the streets. It seems his goal is to recreate the incident with a device called the ray sphere. After many years of work and testing, he decides it's ready. I think it's safe to assume that he went mad after witnessing what he did because that's the only way to justify his extreme actions and methods of "training" his other self.

Sasha is a big time drug addict/drug abuser(?) who is/was a high ranking member of the First Sons. Being a conduit, she gains powers to design a drug that allows her to control those who are "hopped up" on the drug. I still don't know what happened between her and Kessler. Maybe she just finds his younger self more attractive? I don't know lol.

And Alden... pissed at Kessler for all these years, gains powers from the blast and decides to claim an island of the city for his own goals after acquiring the ray sphere. Poor guy had to contend with Sasha and her crew, Kessler's own First Sons clan and Cole, not to mention the police. I think his involvment really adds depth to the story because he wasn't your typical "second boss from the bad guy posse". He had his own plans and motives.

I've read a theory that the nemesis could very well be bad guy Cole himself traveling to the future and is the result of the training from Kessler. But while that seems interesting, his own timeline wouldn't have him being an innocent man Married to Trish so that's kind of moot unless he can jump timelines and enter Kessler's past? *Mind explodes*

I just can't wait to see what they do for the sequel. Will the nemesis show up and alter Cole's powers giving him time manipulation? That'd be fucking sweet. Imagine shooting lightning, warping behind the enemy and then grabbing them so they can't move as they take the blast to the chest. Hell, I'd settle for Kessler's powers.

Well I've just completed the second island and shit is really starting to hit the fan.

The double cross twist I saw a mile away, but scaling that tower? Defending the prison? Fighting those bosses? The giant conduits? The killing machine buses? All totally awesome shit which has made the second chapter of the game infinitely better than the first. Not to mention all of the new powers that have finally made me feel like an actual superhero.

I can sense I'm coming to the end of the game which is really sad. At the moment I just want it to keep going as the action keeps intensifying and the story becomes more gripping.

Safe to say I rate it above Crackdown now, something I completely did not expect.

Nothing profound in this post, just wanted to express the fantastic time I'm having with it. :D

Awesome post. I look forward to heaing about your thoughts of the missions of the third island. All I know is i certainly didn't expect to be doing some of what you mentioned nor what happenes in the third act at all. Such a refreshing game. I just got my platinum last night. It took me 3 tries as on my second time through i didn't want to do hard mode quite yet.

My wife just left for a week's holiday, so I managed to progress through the game :D I'm now in the Historic District with 9 neutral side missions and one story mission open, but all I do is
rain the motherfuckin' Lightning Storm on those bastard First Sons
:lol This game's really awesome, but I'm not sure I'll start my Hard/Good playthrough right away once I finish this round... I'm doing all of the non-story trophies (missing 2 Dead Drops and 68 Blast Shards, all in the Historic District), maybe that's why.

Gonna pick this up next week after enjoying the demo. Just a quick question, is there anything missable in the game? Items, powers, shards etc.

Your question has multiple answers:

- you can't miss a collectible (Blast Shard or Dead Drop) if you look for them, even after the story is over
- all the powers can be fully upgraded through the course of a regular playthrough, even more so if you only go for the trophy and leave alone the neutral upgrades
- some stunts are easier to pull off at certain points in the story, so I'd advise to devise a plan for these

Ok thanks, just making sure there isn't anything that's unattainable after a certain point.

If you do one of the good side missions when you're trying to do all the evil side missions (or vice versa) then you can't get the upgrade for doing all 15 evil (or good) side missions.

a lot, thats the beauty of it, you don't have to get 80% of the game if you dont want to, you can still beat it. But for those with OCD, there's a ton of powers and upgrades to unlock, shards to find, side missions to do, etc.

Thanks, can't believe I forgot that!

So I just bet Infamous, evil playthrough. I read the dude's black wall of text above but maybe you guys can explain some things to me.

So pretty much, Kessler is you, which I get, but why did Trish have to die to train me? Because to make him deprived of his emotions to her?Is there a logical reason how Kessler was able to travel back in time at this point?and even if Kessler can travel back in time, he's gotta have even more crazier powers than Cole. Also, who the fuck is Natasha?Yea I know she's a boss and everything but why does cole hear her in his mind? Why is she always talking about being with him?

If anyone can answer this without spoiling the good ending, that'd be awesome as I plan to do a good run tomorrow. I still need 500 exp to unlock my last power and enemies are so rare to come by, what's an easy way to get exp? You get exp from collecting dead drops right? and I also need enemy locations so I can unlock the rest of my stunts.

That's one reason. The other reason is that Kessler didn't want Cole to live his happy family life and ignore the coming apocalyptic shit just like Kessler once did.

Is there a logical reason how Kessler was able to travel back in time at this point?
I don't know.

Also, who the fuck is Natasha?Yea I know she's a boss and everything but why does cole hear her in his mind? Why is she always talking about being with him?
I think she was Kessler's lover. Then Kessler decided to stop being nice to her and started abusing Sasha. Sasha decided to stop liking Kessler and tried her luck with Cole (who basically is a nicer version of Kessler) instead.
That mind fuck was a side effect of the contaminated water.

I don't know what stunts you are missing, but some of them are bascially impossible to do after beating the game, because there just aren't enough enemies.

I think Trish had to die for the reason you mentioned: to make sure Cole's emotions don't get in the way. Kessler wanted Cole to be strong. An emotional bond might have messed that up.

I wasn't sure about your second question, but I found this on the inFAMOUS wiki:

"Sasha is the leader of the Reapers. She is one of the few people who had powers before the blast. Before the cataclysm she was in the First Sons and sometimes worked with agent John White when he was undercover within the organization. Post-Blast, she is the leader of the Reapers who dominate the Neon District.

Sasha produces a black tar like mind control agent, then she creates a plague by introducing the tar into the water systems of the Neon. The symptoms the body experiences when infected with the tar are hallucinations and, eventually, mind control, but it also has a unique effect on Cole, like distorting his ability to store electrical charges. On his way to confront Sasha, Cole uncovers the true nature of the Reapers; that there are people who were under the effects of her mind control agent.

Moya tracks her down and sends Cole to fight her but Sasha attempts to seduce him. If Sasha has any real romantic interest in Cole, like how she says that Trish is beneath him and Sasha even threatens to kill her, but what counters this seduction is the fact that Cole is coming to kill Sasha, so she may just trying to get him to stop the pursuit."

Also, we know that Sasha knew Cole before the blast and might have been in love with him. Although, the story never indicates how she knew him.

Well, I've just completed it and I have to say it didn't quite compare to the insanely high standards of the second island. There were some fantastic moments though, like choosing if
Trish lived or died
or taking down the
balloons that were spreading gas and making everyone insane. I also loved how the whole city went to utter shit with the jets bombing everywhere and whatnot - it made a really tense atmosphere that motivated me to finish the game.

In regards to the ending... eh. It's an interesting concept, but it seemed a little bit too cliche. I mean,
it fits in really well with the moral conflict that the game tries to build up throughout the entire game, but I didn't find it nearly as satisfying as the rest of the game. Especially since Zeke simply ran into the last fight, suddenly becoming a good guy again out of the blue, and then got batted off into the distance. Where is there any logical character development or closure there?

Really, though, I loved this game far more than I expected. After Uncharted and MGS4, it's probably the best PS3 game I've played so far. I'm going to go back to do an evil run sometime soon, though I probably won't get distracted with the side missions and whatnot as I can't imagine being motivated to do them again after getting 100% completion my first time.

I gotz my platinum trophy. RAWR.

Just beat the game and it has to be one of my favorite endings this generation. Bioshock and Fallout 3 are my two favorite games this generation but both of them had lackluster endings. Finally, a game I like with an awesome ending.

Can't Wait until my wife comes home so I can bore her to death as I tell her all about the ending. :D

Platinum trophy for this game seems to be SUCH A GRIND. Collect 350 blast shards? I hate shit like that.

How many hours did it take you?

It is a bit of a chore, especially when you've gone street by street twice and still miss one sodding blastshard. Especially when your shard is not one of the shards people usually miss :X

But when the last blue dot finally appears on your radar you feel it was totally worth it! (I'm so DONE with infamous now, but i feel none of the bitter resentment and hatred towards the game that i did when i was at #349 =)

I found it to be one of the easiest Platinum's I have ever gone for. Then again, I enjoyed collecting the Blast Shards.

Blast Shard Collecting is good Podcast gaming. Put the TV on mute, put your favorite podcast on and then go jumping around the city collecting shard (or dead drops or healing people to get the Doctor Cole Achievement).

*sigh* I am never going to find all these stupid shards. I mean how does a shard get blasted from point A, but end up being on the side of a building that is not facing point A?

Wow, I know this feeling. I searched forever for the last shard and it finally popped up in some random spot.

Same. After playing the demo I thought it was going to be a lot harder to get platinum. Such a great game, will replay in half a year or so.

Just got the Platinum. Real fun.

One more question though:

How do i get 100%??

I have one save file (good, normal) with EVERYTHING done. 85%.

Then, i have an evil hard playthrough, with 93%... every mission and side mission done, and all territories taken. I didn't get all shards, stunts and dead drops. But i read somwhere that that doesn't count. What im still missing?, is that i have some neutral powers to level up yet?.

If somebody knows, tell me please.

Anyway, was my third platinum :D

Theoretically you can actually zig-zag each island narrowly and be able to find all missing shards.

I beat this yesterday. Took me something like 10 hours, I did some side quests (10-15 at least), and I'll definitely replay this sometimes as there are many things to do.

Anyway, I loved the game. I won't compare it to Prototype cause it would be pointless but I think it's much better.

I liked both the platforming and combats sections, powers are great and you unlock them at the perfect rythm. I liked the art style very much too, even if the game was pretty much weak on a technical point of view (jaggies, framerate...) but it still looked decent, cutscenes were gorgeous and it has good physics too. Oh and, this game has an AWESOME soundtrack, kudos to Amon Tobin.

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

I'm going to take a break from this game now. I finally got time to play this game and I probably sat 20 hours with it (non-stop) and absolutely loved it. Got around 35% of the trophies... decided to go to bed.

Woke up last day. Started my save, played an hour and BAM! got a trophy I already got yesterday! "O_O" was my first reaction, I quit the game and trophy synced and BAM AGAIN! 1% Trophies in Infamous!

Good job Sony, what an awesome network structure you guys have!

This is one of the few games I've played through twice. It does get tedious but to me it was nonetheless compelling enough to complete it a second time.

The grunt enemy designs are pretty uninspired, except for the Trashmen, who are great. The way they animate when they're running fast after you zap them in the Walk the Dogs missions always made me smile.

Yeah I had a ton of bugs with the trophies too. :/

Got all my blast shards about a week ago or so and it was actually a pretty easy process. All I did was go around the edge of all 3 islands, picked up what I missed then found my remaining two close together in the middle of the warren. Drama free, was really worried about it. Now I just need to finish my evil playthrough on hard and I can get a platinum, but that'll have to wait after I exhaust Batman: AA and I'm killing time until Uncharted 2 comes out.

I'm really really looking forward to a sequal, the ending was just shocking for me and I hope there's some sort of DLC for this game at some point.

Thats really fucking unlucky dude. Wow.

Sorry for going all bat shit insane on PSN (and then log off instantly) :lol It's just that it feels damn empty when 20 hour of gaming goes down the drain just like that.

Got all the blast shards on my first run, not too tough, stunts were ok, having to max out my evil powahz took long tho since I had to do it after finishing the ending on my second run and it wuz hard to get the xp.

The only grinding I did to get the Platinum was for the 'Fully Upgrade All Good Powers' Trophy. I started on Hard mode and had done all the side quests before the end of the game, and I didn't get enough XP to buy them all, so I had to grind for hours after the game was finished. It didn't help that I had bought upgrades for the non-good/bad specific powers like the shield, but I didn't know they didn't count.

And then, after having started on Good, played another game Evil, and gone back to my Good playthrough to get the Platinum, it turned out the game had Autosaved over every one of my multiple Evil save files. I had so much fun with the game, but having to grind so much and then having it eat the game I wanted to play afterwards really soured the experience.

I need one more blast shard. I got all the "hard to find ones". This is just a regular ol' blast shard. I've sweeped the city twice, block by block. Once without the blast shard map, and once with it. This is so frustrating :(

Did you get that one shard on one of the piers on one of the islands? I don't remember the exact location but you had to jump from wooden pole to wooden pole out in the ocean to get it. It was the last one I needed when I was missing one.
