inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

Just finished this game about 10 minutes ago. Really loved it overall. So much fun and great animation on Cole. Story was pretty cool as well
Trish dying, Zeke deserting Cole, and the end twist
were all pretty unexpected for me.

I do have some complaints though. Camera got downright fucking painful at some points. Also the enemies and their fucking accuracy with firearms. I was getting shot from halfway across the fucking islands by these fuckers. It felt really broken to me.

I had already beat the game on Hero on Sep 2nd, and today I beat it on Evil. Man, the electricity changing was awesome
after you activate the ray sphere. Loved the black and red look to it, very cool.
So, yeah, I now have the Platinum trophy for inFamous. It was definitely fun playing through it again a second time. :)

I thought the game was way better on the Hero run. The story and missions didn't really suit Evil Cole. I think the game was meant to be played as Hero Cole.

after everyone crapping themselves over the twist and stuff it didn't live up to my expectations at all. but the game was still really good.

Fuck. I saved over my good playthrough.

This game is pretty awesome. Although its the first game where I enjoyed playing as the good guy more than the bad guy.

I am on my 2nd playthrough now, just one trophy away from platinum (stunt master).

I have completed 18 out of the 21 stunts and I just cant get the last few done, especially the one where you have to stick an airborne enemy with a grenade.

Any tips on how to do that with Evil cole?

Might be a stupid question, but if you start up a new game and immediately switch it to hard do you still get the trophy for completing the game on hard? I started a new game last night, but I wasn't sure if I had to change the setting before starting a new game.

not stupid... and yes, switching immediately to hard will get you the trophy provided you don't switch again during your playthrough.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't want to end up getting to the end of the game and find up that I'd have to play through again to get the platinum. I have a feeling that time is about to get limited so I'm try to go through the game again before that happens.

Heh, it's the total opposite for me. That was the first game were I liked the bad route more. I thought the infamous skills were a lot better than their hero counterparts and the little differences in the story progression were more interesting with the bad guy, too.

i got the game a few days ago..im pretty sure im close to the end and my frist playthrough has been fun as hell..this is the first game where given the choice to be good or evil i started off evil..im frying everything..i mean EVERYTHING.i wish there were puppies to kick..being evil is so much fun that im dreading my hero playthrough

Streaming this at http://www.justin.tv/evilgamer if anyone wants to see it. I think I'm about half way through, I'm playing good side since my friend played evil. For some reason the game recommended Hard and uh... I'm still going. We'll see if I break before the end :P

edit: Just finished it. Class fucking act. Great game. The game autoassigned me to hard, and I just sort of... played through it that way, good path. It was difficult at times, but the only really frustrating part was the mega-super-sniper AI that'd peg you from two blocks away, and lob grenades perfect onto the tops of buildings.

Otherwise though, great experience.

A very marked contrast to Prototype which was completely over the top, this is much more deliberate. I expect an evil playthrough on normal difficulty would be far more... explosive, but even so. I thought the cover combat and somewhat restrained abilities were really well done.

Too many damn buttons! Prototype had the same problem. Must be something with superheroes. When they resorted to down on the dpad for a power, I knew they were running low :P

But yeah, excellent stuff. If you own a PS3, get it.

I know I'm lttp, but I just got my slim, only stole my friends PS3 before to play the other exclusives, and missed this one due to business.

Im 349/350 shards (and 2 trophies away from platinum) and from counting each district theres:

147 shards in Neon (including the very first one you run into)
135 shards in Warren
68 shards in Historic

But for the life of me i cannot find the ONE shard in the Warren. Any tricky ones i should know? IGN provides a great guide but i spent an hour last night (fml) searching everywhere for it. Its annoying. Tips to you guys going for the platinum, i say dedicate a whole run and make sure you go section by section to prevent this annoyance.

Is it just me or do the range of electricity bolts differ in range depending on your karma? I'm fairly certain being evil has made it slightly shorter in range.

Is it me or is Evil Cole significantly worse than Good Cole? His powers suck, are less powerful and he has less health.

He only becomes good once
you activate the Ray sphere
.

chain lightning is pretty awesome, and having enemies randomly explode is crazy. But good Cole seems the stronger one with more health and slo-mo.

Ive been in a gaming slump recently with nothing really appealing to me. Ive had infamous for a while unwrapped so finally decided to stick it in and have a go and what an incredibly fun game it is! Ive just about finished the first island and having a whale of a time with it.

try on top of the prison one more time?...

or maybe in the stronghold places... like the one with all the train crates... orrrr.............. i dunno...

i don't think there's any that are particularly tricky... but i know there is one that you can miss on top of the prison

I personally think evil Cole is worse than good Cole, but it is easier being evil, all you have to do is run around and kill civilians.

I had the same problem; the last one was in the Neon District out on the lake on a few planks, it doesn't appear on the mini-map because it's so far off, I believe it was on the left area of the Neon District. Did you check around there?

I will try this in a few. I didnt scrutinize the prison like i think i shouldve.

You don't even get evil points for killing civilians. I've never seen anything pop up anyway. Also, I think its lame that healing someone gives you 3 good exp points but you can only get 1 exp point when draining an enemy.

If the civs attack you, you can sticky-bomb them for the stunt points. That's how I got my final 9,000 exp on my evil playthrough.

I just look for the Dust Men conduits that spawn those crab things and melee them. The crabs that is.

Pretty much. 5 in a row gives you that 50xp Stunt, plus if you kill the conduit you get another 50xp. I did this on a street fight mission in the Warren, and made 7000xp in less than 20 mins.

I rented the game a few days ago. I'm up to the eighth or ninth story mission so far. It's an interesting game. I might buy it when it gets down to $20. I can't afford it at full price.

Anyone noticed the game looked like complete shit on the opening level in the parking garage? There were so many jaggies I had to check my set!

The game got SO much better after the few couple of hours...is there a reason for this? Is it because games are created sequentially so it gets progressively better visually? Or was it because there was too much "fire" effects going on?

Who here wishes the boss fights were mor challenging and more Zedla-esque, meaning that you had to utilize all you powers to beat them, instead of mostly spamming R1?

I recently played through uncharted and this game back to back (borrowed both from a friend) and I've gotta say I really prefer the way this game handles scaling buildings and climbing on structures. Not to say that Nathan should be able to do everything Cole can, but just the way things were designed.. Uncharted felt more like 'Okay, there are 6 bricks sticking out of the side of this tower, you're going to have jump between them in a preset order to get to the next location' whereas in inFamous climbing is more of an 'okay, this is a building. There's shit sticking out all over the place, and most of it you can grab onto. Find a way up.' Sure, there's a few dead-ends, and it may take you longer to reach the top, but I liked it a lot better than the 'connect the dots' method.

There are obviously exceptions to this in both games, but whenever I hopped around a building in inFamous trying to find my way to the top, I couldn't help but think 'Damn, Uncharted could've really used this sort of design'

I just find it interesting that SCEI is releasing inFAMOUS with a straight up CERO Z (18+) in Japan. I guess with that said, not much of a localization outside of Japanese text and voicework.

Yep. My sentiments exactly. When I played the first Uncharted 2 beta I was just coming out from InFamous and it felt very, very bad.

InFamous has the best climbing/3D platforming system I have ever seen btw.

I think SP clearly stated they were not interested in DLC with regards to this game. I'm on my Hard/Good playthrough, and
Alden just escaped from the prison
:D This mission was the hardest so far, but otherwise I'm breezing through the game, only playing Story missions and Good missions. I guess I'll have to grind some Side missions to purchase all Good upgrades, which ones are good for that? Titanic Beatdown?

This is a very interesting subject, because it constantly had me on my toes and was similar to playing real people that might be just as skilled as you in a matchmaking game...

It would be interesting to see a multiplayer model with two completely different classes at play: humanistic characters with guns against superhero/villian(s) for control of the city.

This type of science-fiction twist could introduce more ways to interact open-world online. Your human characters might be metahumans that grow limited powers, and you could upgrade your superhero/villan like in the first.

Late EDIT...

This is one of my favorite bookmarks to have running in a tab as a song with dialog. It's delivery is very fitting for the character and the battle sounds mix well with the percussion soundtrack.

I've had this through GameFly for a few days now and it's so fucking repetitive. However, the promise of a twist ending makes me want to finish it now.

Actually, I do enjoy the game quite a bit but every now and then there's a mission that is just annoying as shit. Like blowing up the surveillance equipment on the sides of buildings or my recent main quest, which involves taking down those gas balloons. It wouldn't be so bad if there weren't 10,000 goddamned enemies all over the place. Ugh.

When I was hunting the last few shards, I had run around and through the prison near the ground level spamming the R3 button but nothing showed up. I decided to climb the prison anyway and once I reached a certain height, they began to show up on the mini-map. Pissed me off, never considered that height had anything to do with that.

Anyways, if you're sure it's the Warren that has the last shard you need, take a good look around the rivers too, as it's really hard to spot shards over water on the mini-map.

yeah, same her. I tried to climb everything and nothing worked. But I got used to it again, and it's better in the 2nd beta I think. ;) Maybe they added more obstacles to climb up because they played infamous. ;)

I had to come straight here to voice my love for this game, as I just finished it. It might simply be the most FUN game I have played this whole generation, gameplay-wise. If your someone who likes to "make" fights awesome, this is the game for you. Every encounter I was jumping off shit while blasting people, making things explode, aiming to make the most epic multi kills, headshotting, taking some risks ramboing people.....this game just oozes cool through the moveset, animations, and effects. Not to mention the sheer amount of choices you have in approaching most missions. While there are a few "Hey, follow thing guy" missions, all the combat related ones are open-ended as hell.

Oh, and its the fastest, most fluid, fun climbing system of any game I've played, period. (well, 3d anyways)

Now, I just need to buy myself a copy.... (borrowed current one from a friend :lol )

Even a new costume would be fine. Or the megawatt blades.

Bleh.

I want an uber jump power to propel me up in the air.

I'm in the middle of my evil play through, man I love the evil megawatt hammer.

I want that and a "long jump" move that looks kinda like the Shockwave, only you send it behind you, propelling yourself forward a great distance. Use it to jump out of firefights, refuel, then jump right back in and cause some mayhem. :D

Sony recently announced the God of War Collection, a PlayStation 3 title that contains high-def versions of God of War 1 and 2 for PS2. I presented Fox with the idea about Sony doing a similar collection featuring the entire Sly Cooper series. While he wouldn't confirm or even suggest the possibility of the project existing, he did express enthusiasm over the idea.

"Sly Cooper at 720p would be fantastic," Fox said. "The 2D art in those titles is some of the funkiest stuff I've ever seen on PlayStation, seeing it all in HD would remind me of a time when my vision was much sharper."

But since the release of InFamous earlier this year, Sucker Punch has been mum on its next project. Will it be Sly Cooper 4? I asked Fox when fans can expect to hear about the studio's next project.

"You'll just have to wait and see," he teased. But, what I can tell you is that as I write this there are dozens of people all around me jacked up on coffee and Red Bull, making game content with a speed and skill level never before realized at Sucker Punch."
Go crazy folks.
