inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

Finished up today playing on the good side and on hard difficulty, ran through the side missions as well. Hard to find a good open world game these days, Infamous delivers. I hope we get some more variety between islands/sections next time around and it could take a little more cheerful tone over all considering it's a superhero story(
not every one has to die
)

Yes it would be cool to have enemies that are vasty different between the different islands in the sequel if they decide to do one, I really want Sucker Punch to make another inFamous.

As for those of you who are still looking for shards, stay strong and get that platinum.

Three days and nights I traversed Empire City, clicking that goddamned right stick every two seconds. And yet I was still two short.

I still have to play through the Evil storyline, so I guess that'll be my chance to go for it again. But holy shit, next time make it a little easier, Sucker Punch. Let us mark off areas that have been cleared, like the billboards and fences in Burnout Paradise.

That would make it much easier indeed, but in the meantime, just write down how many you have when you leave each island, so that you know where you're missing some!

My method for collecting shards was:

Run the perimeter of each island, there are some radar dots that will show up over the blue water on the radar, making them hard to find.

Then, I'd go into the interiors and basically do neighborhood by neighborhood. In the Warren there are canals with a bunch of shards in the electrical towers above...and also some shards down on the sides of the canal. These won't show up very well on radar.

There are one or two shards on one of the bridges leading out of the city altogether...don't forget to check there.

I have my wife use the maps on ps3trophies and check them off as we go block by block. Should have them done in the next cuple of days.

And onto UC2. I dont know how I have the willpower to not have played it yet when I got it on release day.

I remember spending an entire night looking for one.

It was ALL the way on top of some skyscraper. For some reason the radar didn't pick it up.

No, why would it? They still need to address some things about Cole.
Maybe we'll get to play as Kessler though? O_o

For one, at the end of the first game
you're way too overpowered to begin a new game.

Honestly I have no idea what they're doing with the sequel story-wise, and I don't really care. This is my GOTY and I thought the story sucked.

I've played about an hour of the game. I don't like the combat but enjoy the platforming. Does the game have more extensive brutal platforming later in the game? I'm a sucker for that stuff.

Sorta. There are certain missions that are completely centered around platforming, but I'd say it's a 40/60 split favoring combat.

the end of every Metriod game ever.

Also, as to powers in a sequel
didnt the future bad guy look like he had powers of fire? I wonder if we will get a sequel where the powers are a different phenomenon, not electricity anymore. Or maybe electricity is a part of it only.

The free gigawatt blades are awesome by the way.

Now that I've beaten the game, I think the most fun part of the whole game is after it's over; exploring the city, looking for blast shards I've missed, and fighting the occasional bad guys left.

That'd be nice. I think the story in this game fell victim to taking itself too seriously.

you have to consider though that
Kessler (Cole) lost to whatever he fought in the future. Cole is probably slighty stronger than kessler at the end of the game but he will need to be more powerful to win against the future enemy
.

Just finished game on bad side and I really enjoyed it.

Trying to upgrade all my stuff now but Ive done every side quest, anywhere I should go in particular to get more XP?

I picked this up for £18 on the weekend. I can't belive I missed this when it came out - its an awesome game.

Kind of like AC2 btut with electricity.:D

Started playing this again after stopping in May. I'm playing the evil side, and I think I'm at the last mission. I will say, things towards the end start to get pretty repetitive. At first I was going for shards, doing as many side quests as I could but eventually I got tired of that and have just focused on the main story missions.

I'm kind of fuzzy on the story and all since I haven't played the game in 7 months, but I figure I'll read up about it when I finish it sometime tomorrow.

As I mentioned I'm towards the end (evil side).. :

Holy crap at Kessler you POS. The bomb mission where the 6 bodies were hanging from one building and 1 at another and you have to choose which to save (thinking the 1 body hanging is Trish) is CRAZY. Turns out it's not and she's actually with the 6 bodies and Kessler drops her and she fuckin' dies. That whole sequence...I just sat there and said..no way fuuuuuuuuuuuu

I was thinking more along the lines of "where have I seen this before? Oh, that's right, spiderman". :D

About the superpowers and the sequel, I'm guessing
whatever you're fighting in the future will magically strip you of all your powers and you will have to acquire some new ones along with restoring the old ones

Another thing I think they should emphasize in the sequel is fast movement. It should be challenging and rewarding, almost a Jet Grind Radio like system. I'm also hoping for a downtown area for the next game with some really challenging platforming parts, obviously Sucker Punch is more than capable. Looking forward to whatever they put out next...

So i just beat the game (Evil Side). Some story questions:

1. So Kessler and Cole are the same person...with Kessler being future Cole. Kessler travels back and starts development of the Ray Sphere a lot earlier and has the bomb blow up in Cole's hand to give him power.

2. Kessler gives Cole's these powers so that he can take on "The Beast" when the time comes and not be a coward like he was.

3. Who is Sasha? They never really say? Is she a future ex or something of Cole?

4. Is Alden still alive? What about Moya they don't say too much about her either.

The whole point of the game was to get you ready (basically) for the sequel :p ?

Heh, I loved that mission.
When I was playing good I tried to save Trish, since I was a nice guy in love and all. That got me the trophy for being "bad".

On my evil playthrough I chose to save the doctors because I wanted that bitch to fucking die. That got me the trophy for being good.

If only the game knew the real reasons behind my actions... :lol

That's one of the drawbacks of the game: it's quite painful to grind once you've done all the side-missions. It's also quite hard to get all the stunts once you're done with the story... The best way to get XP is either one of the big fights in side missions, or the story mission where you get the last power and must put the old generators back on line.

1. That's what it looks like, yes.

2. Yup. Having Trish die much earlier than previously is supposed to harden him, to give him more resolve to deal with things.

3. That bugged me too, Cole says she was a bitch before the explosion, but that's about it. She seems to be in with the First Sons, maybe she plays a part in the future?

4. Alden seems to have gotten away. As for Moya, I'd say she's served her purpose, I don't think we'll be hearing her again.

5. I think of it as a prequel/origin story that comes before the big adventure... inFamous 2: Electric Boogalo!

Man, fuck this game...I love it and hate it so much.

Why can't it just tell were the last shard is!

Spent 3 hours looking for the last 16 and I can't find the last one argh.

EDIT: Listening to the Shatter soundtrack while trying to track it down is somehow making me rage less.

LTTAP - Just got this mofo for 12 bucks, loving the crap out of it. I shouldn't have bought Protoype instead at launch. Ah well.

So I want to complete this game with trophies and all and since you obviously have to do 2 runs is it better to do my first or second run on hard? I'm kinda dying on hard now. I was thinking of hard run (goodieboy) first and just the story and then easy collecting everything and getting platinum. That should work shouldn't it?

I did run one on normal with good. And collect shards and all that way. A

lso make sure you write down how many shards you have as you move from island 1 to 2 to 3 the very first time. That way you know how many you have left on each isle. Also, do the stunts early on, after you beat the game, there are not many bad guys around. Those are two things I wish I knew before I started run 1.

Then left hard and evil only for the second playthrough. Which I will probably start next week.

Well, if you go down every road in an orderly & systematical fashion while spamming the radar button & still can't find them, they are most likely just outside the map's reach. There are a couple of shards that are out in the water or on top of really high buildings & you have to get really close to them for them to appear on the radar. Hope it helps you. Have you tried looking at a map online? I used an interactive map for Brutal Legend which I printed out & then marked off every item with a black marker.

I have no idea :( Just a booth babe at some convention I believe. Someone else posted it in its original beauty a few months ago in the OT section but I don't know where :( It was a pain to get it below 150kb from 4.5mb :lol

I've been assuming that
Sasha was never a member of the order but of the US government. She is likely a member of an agency that was trying to get John and his work for them self
I think what I would love to see in InFamous 2 is this: The first few chapters of the game happen after 'regular' people start getting powers by whatever means
Kessler
got his. This results in many super powered criminals and terrorists.
As our exciting story begins, Cole has been captured by Sasha and the Government. He gets 'released' into different areas of America to clean up problems, but with a explosive collar or something similar. He has to fight off the baddies and obey the Gov orders or blow-up. Eventually, he will start learning about the cause of the issue and the potential arrival of the BEAST, and he has to escape the Government and fight off the beast while fighting the Government.

Man I still have to go back and finish this game.

I still think it was one of the top games of last year without a doubt.

I remeber pre-release all the back and forth of Prototype vs. Infamous lol good times, I wonder what he consensus is on that debate after both games have long been out and many have played both to death?

Picked up the game two days ago, only cleaned up the first island so far. Really digging the combat so far, not a fan of the traversing though. The enviroments lack variety and all of the characters are really unlikeable.. That said, I'm having fun with it :]

I got a PS3 on Black Friday as a gift, and just got around to picking up inFamous. I've put about two hours into it. I'm so impressed, the game is absolutely gorgeous and very fun. I absolutely love running around the city from building top to building top, jumping onto wires to cross the street and shooting down towers to keep it moving. Often you have to fall to the ground, but I can't decide if I like the realism of that or would rather just love to be able to always run in the top.

Either way, the gameplay is very fun. The story is completely flat and executed in a cheesy, fast way, but I'm not playing it too much for the story. I'm a superhero in a apocalyptic city where I free roam and do missions. It's just fun.

How in fucks name did this not get any GOTY awards, it should have gotten at least best sandbox game. This nails every game like it into the ground, GTA you name it.

Anyway, I'm at the mission Vengeance, I'm guess I'm almost at the end? Played through it on hard, which is so, so satisfying. You die a lot in the beginning but once you get the hang of it killing all those bad guys is amazing. Can't wait to start the second run and play evil only and finish the game 100%. Storywise I like it, cheeseness included, it was cool how
Trish died
but they didn't really involve her too much. Instead it's more about Zeke. Really wondering how it's gonna end with him but really have to take a break from playing now since I need to catch some sleep

The game's sold 1 million which is way too low, should've been more. At least a sequel is coming. :)

edit, beaten the game. Ending is nothing short of amazing. Gearing up for evil playthrough, wondering if I should keep doing stuff on the first playthrough trophy wise though. Also, will evil playing affect storyline (ending for example)?

I've had this game for like a month or so in my backlog and picked it up this weekend and really put some serious time into it. I had just finished Assassin's Creed II and was looking for something similar and this game really... REALLY hooked me. I even set my alarm to wake up early on Sunday so that I could get a few hours in before everyone came over for the Super Bowl.

I'm in the middle of Warren now, just beat Neon 100% and doing every single side quest. Still have a few stunts to do but reading this thread... I'll make sure I do them before I beat the game. Going through as evil first but there was a mission that gave me good karma points (it was *not* light up in blue, but yellow) so I hope that doesn't screw with my inFamous ranking.

All in all it's a very addictive game and can't believe I let it sit on my backlog for so long. While the graphics aren't the best, they do hold up. There is some slow down here and there like when I blasted the crowd of protesters it dropped to 5fps, and I've had a few Reapers getting stuck underground where all I could see was their head popping up.

I don't think I've ever yelled "where am I getting shot from?" so many times in my life. Those reapers have pinpoint accuracy shooting me while they are running backwards and not even looking. I wish I had that kind of skill sometimes when playing MW2.

But glad I picked it up and it shows a ton of potential for a sequel.

ahhhh found my last shard finally! it was on the first island in a totally non-hidden area. took me at least 3 days of frustrating searching through each block of real estate ingame. feels so great to finally platinum this game. i hate blast shards!!

It wont screw your ranking. You can reach full hero or full evil without doing all the sidequests. The healing/life leech help a lot in that. Plus some missions give you karma ratings based on how you behave in the mission, not just the good/bad choice moments. There were many times I ultimately got bad karma in a mission because I accidentally killed a bystander while killing bad guys.

As to stunts, I would look up a guide and make sure you do them. Some are easy to do on certain missions, so you might as well before you get too far in.
