inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

Something I forgot to mention earlier...Every once in a while I've run into invisible walls, but they go away later. I even fell through the island twice and fall into the water under it.

I have someone on my list with like 15. :lol

But yeah... my plats are Dead Space, Resident Evil 5, Uncharted, and Burnout Paradise.

I have a friend with 20 of them! I wish I would just play the games enough to get them. 2 for me..this will be number 3 (If I get it). Uncharted & Legends of Wrestlemania(Super Easy!).

Just played the demo, and GODDAMN is that how you do a demo! I wasn't even thinking about buying this, and then I figured I'd download the demo tonight.....

Just bought it from Amazon, $54 and free two day shipping (Prime FTW) can't be beat.

The Developer Diaries on GT were really good. They had some funny stuff too. :D These types of things are always fun to watch.

What a small team too, less than 50 people?

Those developer diaries are some of the best ever. I really want to see more of this Sucker Punch group after watching them. They not only seem really close knit but also make the games they want. I loved the wall of mail they had and the jokes that were made.

Less than 50 but I'm sure at peak development it was more. I would like to know in case I'm wrong.

Seriously? Being annoyed by the gameplay in the demo and then proclaiming it to be "a top game" when he hasn't played the full game yet to see if his concerns have been addressed?

One of the most pathetic fanboy moments I've seen on GAF yet.
Cry me a river. review scores + demo [note: saying a game is quite hard doesn't mean i said it's shit. i enjoyed it and preordered it. i've made no contradictions, like you're suggesting] show it's a top game. You don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to figure that one out.

Also, could you please stop making shit up?

TOP GAME IT'S A FUCKING TOP GAME.

This thread has enough trolls trolling.

Serious clan play! Seriously top game.

Sony has done a really good job at bringing the big Playstation Console titles onto the PSP and I hope it continues with this one! Playing inFAMOUS on the go would be a blast! All of the side missions they have would make for a great game.

That would be a genius move.

Too bad Sony aren't geniuses.
And it would take Sucker Punch a long time to develop another game.
Plus, they need some time off / vacation time.

Well I certainly wouldn't assume Sucker Punch would do it. A lot of the PSP versions are not done by the original studios.

Hey I just saw and Infamous commercial. :D

Was kind of far away but it was comic sequences with (what looked like) CG parts.
EDIT: Narrated by Cole, I thought it was pretty cool. :D

It was CG. But it captured the feeling of the game very much.
I told my girl to shut up when It came on :lol

Not many teams are able to do an open-world game to begin with, let alone an open-world game on the PSP, and I doubt few if any developer out there is equipped with that kind of tech.

No, they still all have jobs they get paid for. My guess is they'll work on some DLC and increase production on the new Sly Cooper or Infamous 2.

Just played the demo, and found it pretty meh.
Standing on the train and having to go below the rails to recharge the generators every thirty seconds became boring after the second time, spreading devastation among civilians had no real consequences because of the lack of police/military forces (also... everyone getting back walking aimlessly mere seconds after you blew up cars and killed people in front of them, with you still around? really?), baddies only spawning once you get to some coordinates was downright unacceptable (if you know where they are and try to get them from above - or from behind - then no one will be there, they only appear once you hit some hotspot and this kills immersion completely). When I got to the spot where - I think - fire-powered (the ones that charge and instakill you) baddies first appear, got killed once and couldn't find a way to use the environment to catch them by surprise I got bored and turned the demo off (who needs an open environment when things only happen when you follow a predefined path?).
I liked the intro, explosions and special effects, and climbing buildings, gliding and then falling to the ground blowing everything up with the consequent shockwave was completely awesome, but that's it.
Probably some of my complaints are related to the demo itself (train mission being boring, lack of any consequences for slaying people because of the mission being pretty early in the game, nothing else around except nearly useless power sources), or are caused by the hype surrounding this game (which I can understand, Sucker Punch are awesome) or myself expecting a much different game, but I didn't like what I played.

EDIT: I forgot to mention controls were excellent. You did exactly what you wanted with no difficulty at all, in both platforming and shooting/fighting. Many developers should take some notes here.

The karma is locked in the demo to show you what being bad and evil feels like.

Yeah, I assumed you couldn't change it in the demo (maybe it changes automatically later, but I didn't get that far so I don't know). What I meant was that blowing shit up gave me satisfaction for about five minutes, until I noticed no one of the pedestrians cared that much.
Okay, they run around for five seconds, but then they start behaving like nothing happened and that's it (and it made messing with them completely useless, so I simply ignored them and stopped wreaking havoc because I couldn't find any fun in using my powers that way).

I enjoyed beating the pedestrians, then healing them, then kicking them again.
I wonder if that makes me neutral?

I would play past that first mission, the other ones are much better, like the medical crate one.

It makes you bad because you beat them twice and only heal them once :lol

Thanks, I might try giving the game another chance (how many missions are there in the demo?).

4:
Train Mission - Hero
Water Tower Mission - Infamous
Medical Crate Mission - Infamous
Truck Destruction Mission - Hero

Also random pedestrians can run up and give you little missions. Something like "Hey Mr. Cole that person just got mugged!" and then they point you in the direction it happened. (I thought this was pretty cool).

The pedestrians thing looks like a nice idea, at least they aren't completely useless.

Yeah I saw that same commercial when I went to see Terminator Salvation.

The side missions have been pretty fun so far, there's variety........ until they start getting repeated :(

Exact objectives, the text that fills you in the same word for word. It's not THAT annoying, but the stealth missions got kinda irritating at some point.

What I like about them is that they must always be a consideration when you start fighting in the streets... that is if you intend on being a good guy. Just like in the comics, you have to show restraint and mastery of your powers.

I wanted to play as a good guy, honestly, but showing consideration for innocents while assholes are shooting rockets at me? Yeah right. I'll probably hit inFamous-level within 30 minutes.

That reminds me... Is there a way to free the civies (or even enemies) after restraining (read: accidentally restraining) them?

I fucking love this game. Played the demo twice last night, and now again to get all the shards I can. Took me several times to get a few as I glided/fell down through the stupid "abandoned mission" instances to reach the shards out of area. Kinda fun. :)

My meter's got to be about half-way across the screen now and I've barely passed the park on the train mission. :)

I just played the demo. Wonderful. I don't see why everyone is upset about AA and jaggies though, it didn't look overly aliased to me.

It's aliased, but I don't mind the rough-around-the-edges look. I just write-off the stair-step aliasing as zig-zagging lightning bolts surrounding everything.

If by "free" you mean kill. The only way I can see to get them out of the restraints is to shoot them.

Are you sure you didn't download your momma by accident?

If you want to attack him personally, go for it (I'd still be against it), but don't bring in other people's mothers and family members in the attack. Even if it's in jest or whatever non-malicious reason may be.

Even while joking, doing so shows you don't respect your own parents enough to realize others may.

You may find this funny (or stupid) but I was kinda hoping you to post something I could answer so I could ask where your avatar is from. And you quoted me !!! I know that i won't do anything with her name but I'm just curious :lol

I couldn't tell if this was sarcasm or not. Then I saw what was edited, and it's even harder to tell now :/

It's not. No need to bring mothers into joking attacks. The guy said the game was ugly, and if that's how he feels, he's not wrong.

Beauty is subjective.

I didn't assume he was being sarcastic, I meant that's it's just impossible for me to tell anymore. To the point: eh, I laughed. I don't see many yo momma comments anymore so it's funny.

haha, totally understandable. Her name is Cristina Del Basso. She is like 21 or
something like that.

Oh GMAB. I specifically used "momma" as in "Yo' momma is so fat..." jokes. anyone offended by that is twelve.

That was not a personal attack. If he was truly offended, I am truly sorry. But chances are he can take a joke.

You learned that from your dad, eh?

;) <-- joking. Really. Lighten up. :D It's all fun.

In fact, my momma's so fat, when she sits around the house, she sits AROUND the house!

When my poppa was born, the doctor slapped his face by accident.

And my sister, well... Let's not get out of hand now. She's a beauty, and I use her grad photo as my avatar. Sweet, sweet child.
