inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

That's not true at all.

Killing bystanders on accident (or purpose) definitely negatively effects your karma. I kept losing Karmic Overload because of it towards the end of the game on Hero.
It won't show up on the screen as "Killed Bystander +1 Evil XP" or something, but believe me when I say it counts.

Never happened to me. I've even thunder dropped in a crowded area, and obliterated the whole block. Does it not show on the screen as negative karma or what? That's strange if it works that way since everything else has an indicator.

There isn't a message but your karma meter flashes red for a second.

Yes playing on Hard the last island is definitely more difficult karma-wise, I finish the occasional mission with slightly negative karma and it always seems to be because my fights are so big and my powers so deadly that a lot of bystanders get killed. It's cool to see the crowd fighting back and rushing to help but damn people don't blame me when you catch the occasional lightning bolt to the back of the head. :lol

The game communicated the increased stakes pretty well my last mission, it's so hard to kill some of the later enemies that I was busting out a steady stream of grenades and finally had to use a Thunder Drop on the last two guys. Blew up have the damn block, and I got a bit of negative karma. When I looked at the dead people in the cars that where driving by when I did the drop I couldn't really argue. ;)

So there are 2 missions I simply cannot finish on the 1st island. When I'm on the 1st island, the side missions show up on the map (on the first island). When I travel over to the 1st island, the two side missions disappear off the map.

I have NO IDEA what to do :lol

The bystander with the mission may be shot or if its a cop, they are trying to attack reapers. Go to the area where it shows up and clear the enemies, the mission giver may show up.

How the fuck do I destroy this stupid fucking police station at the fucking marker? What the fuck they keep spawning right on me with their machine guns and fucking turrets.

Fuuuuuuck

This is the first game in a LONG time for me that has given me that addicting feeling where I just keep coming back. What a fucking amazing game.

And Sony is doing a GREAT job at marketing it too. My friend who doesn't know much about video games was over yesterday and saw infamous on my shelf and he was all like "holy shit you have infamous, that game looks dope as fuck lemme try it! I gotta get me a PS3 for this game!"

Not saying it isn't true, but I'm bombing the crap out of people right now, and torching cars near them and I don't see any flashes. I thought there was no penalty, I've only lost a rank because I executed someone and it says it.

To those who didn't get the Uncharted 2 beta, go to any EB Games or Gamestop and look at the InFamous box in the store. I saw in a couple of store where they didn't remove Uncharted 2 beta from the inlay. Last I checked, the beta isn't activated yet so that'll give you guys a chance to use it :P

Just saying :D

So guys... epic win happened yesterday. My friend Julie came over for a couple hours and she tried out inFamous.

Following an hour+ of the game, she started calling places to see if they had a PS3 and inFamous and stock, then we left to Best Buy and came out with the Uncharted PS3 bundle along with inFamous, LBP, and Motorstorm 2. EPIC WIN!!!!!!!!!!

Played through the demo and had fun, my only gripe would be the frequent drops in framerate which is kind of annoying knowing the same game would run better on 360. but ill still most likely buy it.

Well what the hell that has to be the most unclearly marked police station i've ever seen. It only has an entrance on the second floor? That's retarded.

Alright, I'm just trying to find an excuse for what should've been a pretty simple mission. Thanks for you help.:lol

I'd love some evidence of that.

This may have been already asked but bah, do the hidden package missions count towards the shard count? I am stuck at 334 and I have looked everywhere D:

How does one go about meeting these rich women that love gaming?

I do agree this is a lot more accessible than some PS3 exclusives; which sometimes, IMO, are more interesting than fun.

Haha, I wouldn't use "rich" but as a science researcher who does tests on animals she gets enough money to not know what to spend it on (as in, she doesn't go shopping for clothes all the time). Anyway, just met her through a friend. A lot of these "mysterious" gamer girls and whatever are just women who frequent the INTERNETS. Nerdy girls can be very hot :D

I agree, though, that this game is VERY accessible. A few of my friends wish they had a PS3 already (as in, if there was a price drop) for this very game, along with Killzone 2, and all the big titles coming.

Just glitched into the wall during a mission, when I managed to get out my legs constantly have a huge buildup of electricity. Looks darn cool :D.

i just played 3 hours straight...
MGS4 was the last game that make me do it.
Now... im 50% on the campaign and my question is were is my inFAMOUS 2 announcement ? :)

Stand on top of them and shoot the generators.

Also doesn anyone else get a "Oh shit not again" feeling whenever you see a platfrom covered in electricity? I just spam megawatt hammer till the bleeding stops. :|

Oh lord,
the bus mission. I just wanted the rocket guys to go away.

I can't believe how good this game is. I absolutely love it. At this point, I'm ready to declare this the single best sandbox game I've ever played (or at least my favorite). It's an open world without the problems typical of open world games. They didn't skimp on scripting, story telling, atmosphere, or anything nor did they present dodgy controls. It plays like a dedicated platform/action game with complete freedom. Even the side missions are fun as they actually test your platforming and combat skills quite nicely.

AHAHAHAHA.

I might have just convinced a friend of mine to buy a PS3 for inFamous WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING. All I did was suggest we play the intro to the game after they get here.

We'll be eating these super tasty and super strong edibles:

It turns out that he already saw the intro to the game online and is trying to stay away from it because it could mean turning in all his new monies into a PS3.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure at this point in time there stands only a handful of missions between Cole and the finish line... and then round 2 with EVIL COLE :D

I have just started this and so far it's pretty cool, I'm going for a Good playthrough first. I just did a Medical Emergency mission where i had to defend a clinic which was easy enough, put afterwards when it awarded my XP it said my intentions were slightly evil :s

How come? Does it calculate that off of innocent pedestrians killed?

Ditto on the Evil Cole part. I'm not even to the third island yet but since I'm 100% Hero now, I'll be focusing mainly on the story missions to get through it now. :D

I'm on the 3rd island as now on my second run. God I love evil Cole.

So is it me, or is all that's different on hard is just less exp?

Played on normal as heroic, doing a hard run as Evil, shit dies just the same, I just get less exp for whatever I do.

Maybe I'm just better at the game now? But the exp cut is real.

If you care for the trophies, might as well finish the game as Hero cole and upgrade every single ability.

Easy:

* Crush - Kill an enemy by crushing them with an object.
* Sticky Bomb - Kill an enemy by fixing a sticky shock grenade to them.
* Highfall - Kill an enemy by making them fall from a high place, usually over a ledge.
* Enviro Take Down - Kill an enemy with environmental explosion.
* Melee Finisher - Kill an enemy with the last hit of 5 hit melee combo.

Tricky:

* Air Strike - Kill an enemy with the Lightning Bolt move while Cole is in the air.
* Blast & Bolt - Kill an airborne enemy with the standard Lightning Bolt weapon.
* Flying Head Shot - Aim carefully, and take out an airborne enemy with a headshot.
* Flying Melee - Kill an airborne enemy with a melee attack.
* Unquenchable Thirst - Be like Tony Hawk and transfer to 4 different grinds without touching anything else.
* Premature Detonation - Kill an enemy by making a bomb-equipped kamikaze enemy explode near them.

Tough:

* Right Back At Ya - Use the Shockwave move to make enemy kill themselves with a grenade or rocket.
* Air Sticky Bomb - Like #3, but kill an airborne enemy by sticking a grenade to them.
* Insult To Injury - Stick a grenade to an enemy, but then kill them with another weapon (or melee) before it explodes.
* Whack A Mole - Kill a Conduit with the Thunder Drop move.
* Suspended Sentence - Kill an airborne enemy with the Thunderstorm move.
* Up Close And Personal - Kill 3 Enemies back to back with just the melee. Don’t fire in-between.

Daft:

* Crowd Control - Kill 5 Enemies at once, easier with a grenade.
* Splash And Crash - While in the air, Shock an enemy and then hit the same enemy with the Thunder Drop move.
* Have A Nice Fall - Kill 3 enemies at once by making them fall from a high place. Again, easier with a grenade.
* Ride The Lightning - Kill an enemy with Precision while rail grinding.

:D Stolen from here.

Quoted for new page.

Yep, MGS4 was the last one to do it to me too.

EDIT: Actually Gears of War 2's Campaign had the same effect on me as well, it just soured once I got to the multiplayer.

Climbing around and jumping from building to building, grinding the wires and flowing through the air is all nice and the best part of the game, along with trying out the new powers you get. But there are so many other things lacking here.

The combat is, just like with Crackdown, way too messy. Half of the time I'm being attacked by a whole bunch of enemies from different angles to which the obvious response is just to throw grenades and shoot everywhere.

The story is, again -- just like Crackdown, so uninteresting even though storyscenes in between look good. On top of that most characters are kinda flat.

The side missions start off good, but after the first island they're just boring and the only reason I do them is because I'm hoping I won't have to fight enemies all the time when running around. The city isn't exactly dull but the different areas look way too similar to be fun to just roam around in the long run, unlike GTAIV for instance, where each area had its own look.

So in short; finding the powers and climbing and grinding around is what's making me enjoy this game right now, but I doubt I'll think it's that funny after a few more hours.

I was I had a camera, I just had the best glitch yet. I got shot way up over the city (I could barely see it), and I was stuck until I press square and did the biggest thunderdrop ever! Also, has anyone had problems with he'right back at ya' stunt. I just killed 5-6 guys in a row doing nothing but repulsing rockets. I'm not ever getting a takedown credit for the kill

Done and done on the stunts.

Has anyone got the trophy for draining 750 megawatts? If so at about what stage did you get it, 'cause I'm near the end, and I still haven't got it. I've actually been travelling to places by using precision to drain all my energy, then moving forward, draining everything I can, then repeating it every step of the way, and still nothing. I could swear that I've stickied more than 50 guys at this point.

I got my 750 way after I finished the game. I think it still registers even if you're full, because I got mine when I was sucking juice from stuff when my bar was full. A good place to do it is in the sewers, where there are those things that give out infinite electricity.

So I did a Thunder Drop right onto a Conduit when it was pretty close to dying. All of a sudden, as soon as I land, I get ported out to the sea and die. Went back to find the conduit and it was gone. Didn't know whether to laugh or cry, it was the first one I'd seen in ages.

Lol, when I posted that I was doing a mission, unpaused it, ran forward into a cutscene, the scene ends, I fire off all my electricity, and the next thing I drain I got the trophy.

This game has sucked me in. My wife was sick last night and went to bed at 8, so I popped Infamous in (after playing it all afternoon too) with the intent of stopping around 11:00 and at 2:30 I looked over at the clock and couldn't believe how fast the time had gone.

I just love the upgrades. It hands them out at a perfect pace so that you get comfortable and good at using each new move/power and then hands another even better power right when you need it. It's just so much damned fun.

I only have 2 minor complaints so far. The first is that the sound quality of Cole's voice over is horrendous. I don't know if they data compressed the shit out of it or what, but there's this annoying ringing going on in the high frequencies that just sound terrible. All of the other sounds and voices in the game sound excellent, so it's totally mystifying that Coles sounds so bad.

Second, on the second island
That stupid shipping container maze/building thing is really lame. It kind of kills the atmosphere, and takes you out of the experience. I don't understand why they felt the need to have this lame ass building/maze made out of shipping containers, but it makes no sense. I love the prison area though.

The platforming in this game is just so much fun. One of the best 3d platformers ever made IMO.

Yep, the dialog in this game is compressed to SHIT. I fucking hate it.

I don't get it, why would they do that? I can't imagine they filled a bluray with this game. Is it just a bandwidth/performance thing or what?

The same exact thing happened to me. I got teleported all the way back to the first Island, and right into the water.
