Injustice 2 Roster Discussion & Speculation Thread

Is Scarecrow made of straw? What's the context of this? How did they meet?

It's from the first issue of Swamp Thing (New 52) written by Charles Soule. Scarecrow himself is not made of straw, but the sack he wears over his head is; meaning Swamp Thing can manipulate as he can the Green.

Framerate's gonna be the same for both, no way a fighting game's gonna have disparity in that regard.

Resolution/Load times is still up in the air though.

Ohh true, the problems that would come from not having framerate parity didn't even occur to me in his context. It's just typical of Pro patches.

Hal's super will probably look a bit better in the console version. A lot of the mobile animations (the super moves in particular) look janky and less cinematic for some reason.

Is there any mobile footage of the others we've seen in the console game?

Here's a few examples of the mech/suits Kyle has created to illustrate what I mean about them being more closely associated with his character.

I'm not feeling Hal's super, but I'll reserve judgement until we see the console version.

I'm not sure, but I saw a couple of them in a stream yesterday and they didn't seem as detailed.

Same camera angles and everything? If I recall from the last one they were the same, but lower poly/res and without as much graphical flair, but otherwise the same.

Because people on the fence about Injustice may get it because Spawn is in it and that's cool.

Is Spawn even still popular.

I mean from a pure syngery standpoint what's the point of those two when you can add in characters That will be in TV or film soon like Etrigan or Black Lightning.

I don't understand why they would make Canary that strong.

From the mix ups to that cry stun ability, something has to get nerfed.

She has stubby normals, no projectile, and is generally unsafe. If anything he parry needs to have more recovery, otherwise she's mostly fine.

You're right, the supers in the first game were essentially the same as their console counterparts, albeit less impressive and interesting visually.

Popular enough that people were hyped and disappointed he didn't make MK. Hell, are Alien, Jason, Predator, and Leatherface still popular? Yet people got ridiculously hyped over them.

Because they can still do that AND have guests. We have 9 DLC characters that we already know of and they may have more coming. They can have 3 guests, 3 fan favorites, and 3 promotional tie-in characters.

Spawn is not popular at all.

Just MK fans have some weird fucking obsession with his dumb ass.
Not to mention Todd himself shilling the idea because he will literally do anything to make Spawn a thing again.

Yeah, they're comparable to the Injustice 1 mobile supers: same camera angles, just... slightly off and cheap feeling.

Speaking of that, what kills me in NRS games is knowing when it's my "turn" to attack when someone's on me. I was using her in the beta, and can't seem to get any strings started when I get in close. I know the solution is to study the frame data, but it seems to happen to me with everything. I guess you gotta know the opponents strings. I'll have to get used to them, as this is the first NRS game, I plan to put time in online, but I'm not a huge fan.

It definitely wouldn't surprise me if we saw another Season Pass for more characters beyond the initial 9, not unlike Mortal Kombat X's second "Kombat Pack".

Depending on the release schedule of the Season Pass characters, we might see all of them released before the end of 2017. Thus a second Season Pass for 2018 could help maintain game sales and bring in continued funds to support whatever NRS project comes next.

I want to know what they meant when they said they wanted to do something "unexpected and long-term" with this game.

Maybe this has been envisioned as more of a service or platform for continued support and content? As opposed to the traditional fighting game model. It's not exactly unexpected within the genre; see Killer Instinct, Street Fighter V, etc; but it is unexpected from NRS.

Yeah, it's knowing your frame data and theirs. Canary's best punish is 112 as it's...6 frames I believe and leads to 40 percent combos. It's a high though so, depending on your opponents strings, it's duckable. You also need to learn what's plus with her so you can punish punish attempts. I'm playing Canary heavily right now, I'm uploading a set I just played and I'll link it to you.

I fully expect some kind of "This week X type of gear is more likely to be obtained" stuff. I want info on STAR Labs and if they're going to have anything like the MKX Towers.

Wait, has DLC been leaked or something? How do you know they're in?

Just speculation. Spawns creator gave the okay for NRS to use Spawn in one of their games though.
And Sub-Zero wouldn't be a big surprise, i think its fair to say that next to Scorpion he's the most popular MK character? I could be wrong, i dont know much about that series.

Sounds good. Thanks. I think my issue is I end up holding back or forward causing me to use different strings. I was trying to do that one, but kept messing it up. I'm coming off some bad habits from other games.

I'd be thrilled with more DLC beyond the first nine characters.

Super Smash Bros.
Marvel vs. Capcom
Injustice

The three series that I'd spend endless amounts of money on for additional characters.

Makes me think they'll update the game with new gear for a while.
Although that wouldn't really be "unexpected".

The complete quote is:

"the goals for the sequel are to do something unexpected and long-term. Kind of like what Destiny did with shooters."

Destiny did see continued support and new content through bigger expansions and smaller content packs. If we're to draw comparison with Destiny as Boon did, that's what I'd be expecting of Injustice 2.

Smaller content packs could include new abilities, gear and shaders to keep the game fresh, whereas the bigger expansions could include new characters and story content. Regular events also helped to maintain interest among the player base.

Is there a way to make folders or something when you make a post? Doing a fun but image heavy post about the current comics looks of the confirmed characters with an example of an old costume of theirs as well.

Yeah, you gotta be careful with strings, most games you have unique normals like forward + HP but most normals allow you to move backwards and forwards and still have the same normal come out.

Thanks, i dont think i have seen that before actually. More Star Labs mission are probably coming too, should the mode return. And i hope it does!

I guess you have to upload 'em somewhere and link it here

I've been re-reading older interviews and I think this quote is especially important to keep in mind when discussing the DLC/Season Pass:

"We are definitely, with every game, trying to extend that DLC even longer. As a matter of fact, Mortal Kombat XL, which had the additional four more, that reached out so far that we’ve announced our next game Injustice 2 and we still had a tournament last week with Mortal Kombat XL. We certainly plan to extend it even further than we did in the past."

It's clear that the goal is to support Injustice 2 with more content and updates far beyond 2017. What form that support takes, albeit new gear, abilities or shaders, or more new characters is what I'm most excited to see.

For those curious as to whether or not we'll see cross promotion between Injustice 2 and other DC media projects:

"I think it would be a missed opportunity if we didn’t do like a Wonder Woman movie skin or something like that."

We already have confirmation of
CW Flash
via the mobile game; there has also been speculation that Katie Cassidy did some motion capture for Injustice 2 if not another game. We now know the DCEU costumes aren't out of the question.

The mobile game also has "M" skins for Wonder Woman and Superman, which likely stands for "movie." There's also an "SS" (Suicide Squad) skin for Harley.
