Innovation is dead... so let's talk about next-gen remakes!

Innovation and creativity is unfortunately dead this generation, but it’s going to get even worst next generation especially with escalating budgets and more complicated hardware. This just proves older games were better and developers were more imaginative imho. Remakes of PS5 or XSX games next generation wouldn’t really surprise me.

If they gotta do these remasters and remakes, at least do some older games that could use the enhancements. In all honesty, I wouldn’t really mind seeing something like a Heavenly Sword or Ninja Gaiden remake, but they’ll probably make it for the modern audiences unfortunately.

It's not dead, just slowed down, innovation curve is logarithmic, not exponential.

I just want puppeteer and Muramasa remaster
Vanillaware needs find a way yo somehow buy the IP or Marvelous get off their ass and re-release this game on modern systems.

What I find it weird is both Odin Sphere Leifthrasir and Dragon's Crown Pro got both PSVita and PS4 release and thanks to that we can actually play them on PS5.

Muramasa Rebirth is only got released on PSVita and with no PS4 release the game is forever stuck on dead system.

Oni was a great idea with great characters, a compelling story, and an inventive combat system.
But the technology of the day was not sufficient to bring the design to life with reasonable quality and playability.
There are no such limitations now. This is a remake that needs to happen.

"There are no such limitation now". There are: sexy women and fun aren't allowed anymore at video games.

There are hundreds if not thousands of retro games that could make use a remake and or reimagining.
I would love to see Demon's Crest, Jumping Flash, The Guardian Legend, hell even 1943 recreated.
Originals were fine for their time, but are super outdated.
I do enjoy playing those originals, but i've always wanted a more updated version with grander visuals, more animations and limitations removed.

I wouldn't mind Nightdive remastering or remaking Deus Ex. I imagine I might get a bit of flack for that but it deserves a touch of paint and some QOL so I can play it on Steam Deck.

The classic Need For Speed games: no story to modernize, no politics to push, no pronouns needed. Just develop the graphics and sell.

Rewarding the industry's lack of innovation with less innovation... great incentive. I'm honestly over this "remade content" phase AAA publishers and unimaginative developers are going through.

At this point, I'd settle on developers creating clones and homages of previous classics/hits rather than seeing them continue this sludge of remade fluff and filler.

Except, it does now:

I, of course, am talking about original releases - or I could talk about https://www.shipofharkinian.com/. And by the way, this version, simply with a free camera control and the ability to change equipment with one button makes the whole original game so more fluid (including Water Temple).... That is a example of what a remake can do.

- MGS4: MGS 3 is being remade, why? Of course because it's the most popular, but MGS4 would be fantastic. It's the only one stuck on PS3 (although it's probably coming with the Collection Part 2), and it would look great with modern graphics, and even with MGS V gameplay. Although this one would be tricky without Kojima.

MGS4 is one of the few MGS games I finished and I loved it. What a funky, weird game. That final fight, lord. And as you mention, MGS V gameplay is incredibly good, would be awesome to have a fully fledged remake of MGS4.

Now that we are talking Metal Gear... Metal Gear Rising comes to mind and that game with contemporary graphics and QoL would be really dope too!

Complaining about lack of innovation while begging for more remakes is oxymoron. Also why wanting remakes in an era when most remakes are trash (with only few exception) ? Let alone from companies that are infamous for their shitty, modern remakes.
