could be fake or not, no idea, lot of interesting stuff though..

Xbox Live needs your help to improve our service! As a current Xbox Live subscriber, your opinions are very important to us, and we need to know what you think about some future Xbox Live offers. We invite you to complete a brief survey and become one of the few lucky individuals who get to have their voice heard. Only 200 users will be able to complete this survey, so click on the link below right away!

Next we'd like to tell you more about Xbox Live.
Xbox Live is an online gaming service through your Xbox console system. Xbox Live allows you to meet and compete against others worldwide anytime of day. Use your headset to strategize with friends or talk trash to competitors, set up a buddy list so you can see who is online no matter what game they are playing, send them a game invite or put them on your friends list to set up a game for later. It is easy to get into games quickly with the Quickmatch feature and easy to find an opponent at your skill level with the Optimatch feature. You can also download new items for specific games such as new weapons, levels and maps.
As you may know, Xbox will soon come out with a next generation of video game system (dubbed Xbox 2) that will be far superior in look and feel to anything else on the market.

• If you are already an Xbox Live subscriber through the original Xbox system, you can continue to play against gamers who are on Live through Xbox 2 -- as long as they are playing a current generation Xbox game.
Xbox Live is an online gaming service that works across both the current Xbox system and the future Xbox 2. You will be able to play online and compete against others across both consoles. If you are playing an Xbox game on Live you will be able to compete against people playing that same game on Xbox 2.

• If they are playing an Xbox 2 game on the Live service, you must own Xbox 2.

Xbox 2 offer available at your retail store
12 month subscription to Xbox LIVE, including the full game of Project Gotham Racing 3 (exclusive game for Xbox 2 that is just released). Also includes a headset to allow you to communicate with gamers online. All for £59.99

Direct – The following option allows you to subscribe and renew directly through the Xbox 2 console
12 month subscription to Xbox LIVE for £39.99

Xbox 2 offer available at your retail store
12 months subscription to Xbox LIVE, including a demo disc with game demos for MechAssault 2, Xarcade, and Burnout 3. Also includes a headset to allow you to communicate with gamers online. All for £44.99

Xbox 2 offer available at your retail store
3 month subscription to Xbox LIVE, including the full game of Project Gotham Racing 3 (exclusive game for Xbox 2 that is just released). Also includes a headset to allow you to communicate with gamers online. All for £49.99

don't know about the demo disc with burnout 3 and mechassault 2, sounds a bit strange.. and talking liberally about PGR3 sounds strange as well.

FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE

I think. the person who posted it has 3 posts there and nobody else is able to corroborate that they received this email as well.

plus the whole calling it XBOX 2 thing. has MS ever done that?

a prank perhaps?

Have to define "current generation" here to determine exactly whats meant.

could also mean that people can play Xbox 360 Madden against Xbox Madden or something similar. Not neccesarily that the 360 can play Xbox games.. but that the 360 version of games may be compatible with the xbox version.

Pretty much confirms BC for 360.

I think it's quite clear. It says with Xbox 1 you can play against Xbox 2 gamers, but only if they're playing Xbox 1 games. To play Xbox 2 games against Xbox 2 users, you need to own a Xbox 2. It is clearly not about different versions of games.
It would be quite a mess for MS if this liberal leaking of info was real. I wouldn't be surprised though, since they've been having so many PR problems lately.

If it's real. The way it states and restates the same thing several times in one paragraph makes it sound as if some fanboy REALLY wanted to get his point across.

If its BC, thats fine.

Its not a big deal with me.

I don't seem to keep a hold of older consoles for too long after a new one comes out.

They go to nephews and the like.

Could be as well fake, i mean offering mechassault 2 and burnout 3 in xbox 2 demo disk sounds a bit strange. He might have gotten an email about xbox live survey, and just added that paragraph or something.

It looks kind of suspect just because they refer to it as "Xbox 2". If they didn't want to use the 360 moniker, I would think they would go with a generic "next generation Xbox" or mention the system being tentatively code-named Xenon.

I mean it's kind of pointless to say "Xbox 2 will do such and such" if there will be no "Xbox 2".

That sentence probably just mean that Live works with both consoles, meaning you don't have to subscribe to XBOX2 Live.

So basically they are saying if you are a live subscriber, you don't need to get a new live service when you get your xbox2. Doesn't mean it's backwards compatible.

I just checked this out. I am pretty certain the survey is genuine and officially a Microsoft survey. They have to call the new machine something to get feedback from consumers about it and "Xbox 2" will do until they "announce" the official name to consumers. The format of the survey and the company doing it is identical to other official Xbox surveys that have been done in the UK before. I know this because Microsoft advertised such surveys on Kikizo. I call NOT bullshit on this re: genuine or not. As for what exactly that bit about bac-compat means, who knows...

It's either a really poorly worded way of reassuring people that XBL will work with both Xbox systems, or it's a slightly-less-poorly worded way of saying that cross-platform online gaming is coming.

Here is a 100% OFFICIAL survey URL I have from last year.
http://www.promio.net/0403_xbox_start_uk.php?srcid=4 (Doesn't work any more but...)

You can see that a lot of the market research companies do not necessaruily have the professional looking/sounding/legit looking URL edge you would usually associate with MS's Xbox material. It does not necessarily make it fake.... not does it make it fake that it's similar to a recent one...

Having said that, if you try and access the site route where this new survey lives (http://gmrgsurvey.net) then you get nothing. So... er...

I also agree that I will not disclose to any third parties for a period of two (2) years from the first day of the Project any "confidential information" provided to me by Microsoft or its agents, including but not limited to information concerning unreleased products or services, marketing materials relating to any such products or services (advertising and packaging concepts, web site designs and text, local event concepts and promotional programs) or any other information that is not publicly available that Microsoft designates as being confidential or which a reasonable person would treat as confidential.

;)

Ha! I said I was dissatisfied with Xbox Live (I am just at the minute..), and that was that...no more survey for me!

MS doesn't want to hear your opinions if you don't like their products!!1 ;)

I said I was very satisfied and then they didn't want to hear me :)

It's fake.
There is a survey. It wasn't commissioned by Microsoft.

How do you know? It looks quite legi and similar to one I took from microsoftt..
How do you get past question 10a?

It's the exact same format (and site, probably) as the earlier PD0 survey.

I guess it could be fake if anyone can put these up under anyone's name. Can they?

If this is true, it would be a big plus for me getting an X360 sooner rather than later. I wasn't terribly motivated to get an Xbox this gen, but there are enough games (Otogi2, PDO, Ninja Gaiden) that i'd go back to make this a major selling point.

As it reads, it certainly sounds more like the latter than the former and that by itself means this doesn't confirm anything.

Good God people. Take these off next time you read that survey.

rose-colored-glasses.jpg

That thing was so horribly worded it couldn't possibly be real. It just can't. It can't decide whether it's written for gamers or soccer moms, the wording is awkward, and it releases information that Microsoft has been completely unwilling to divulge publicly. The 200 user thing? wtf?

If it's real, someone better damn well find a new day job, because their gift is not survey-writing.

Dude. Fuck off.
I asked someone at Microsoft. They said it was nothing to do with them.
I could show you ten links to sites quoting the survey, declaring it confirms BC.

That don't necessarily make it fucking so!

Of course, I'm not ruling it out. Just that the wording is a joke and Microsoft here has never heard of it. Also, if you knew anything about what they're doing with Xbox Live, you'd know it doesn't really stack up. :)

Why are you so aggressive? It's OK, I just wanted to know who you'd asked. The link wasn't related to my question that I asked.

This needs to be quoted. Even if the survey is real someone is misundrestanding it. It simply says that you'll be able to play Xbox 360 versions of games versus people playing tha same game but on the Xbox version (and, AFAIK, also the PC version of the same game). And that's all.

Your question was weighted, slightly sarcastic. If you say the link had nothing to do with the question, okay sure. I asked a senior staff member connected to Xbox Live. They said they'd never heard of it.

I wasn't sure who you meant with Microsoft. Microsoft could mean everything! Every person who works there. So sorry for that.

Let's tell me what they're doing with Xbox Live, OK? :lol

Sure, a mild GAF exclusive. I can't run it anyway.
So please, no sp0nG!!11 TEH LIES!!!11!!

Live video script said:
It offers a glimpse of what you might expect too. It's a small leaked piece of the script from the video presentation filmed in Seattle last week. The guy who lifted the scripts was at the filming. Much of the info comes from what he saw during that day. :)

That's why I don't want to play the game anymore. And I don't want it to just play me like I'm person A-slot B, the same as the next guy, the next finger on that button, cause I'm not. I want to play the best of the best and I don't care where they are - If I can get to them I will. This is war and I don't want to go to war against a machine. It's like in school. I want you to be more cooperative now, I want you to work with the rest of the class, do your assignments with the group. Choose the slow guy for your team-for your group.

But what if that's not my group? What if my group is across the city, in another country, all the way on the other side of the world? I want to choose my group, I'm not ready to have you do it for me. I want to make my team, I'm not ready to let you throw me in with just anyone, and if that's not your rules, too bad because I need to make my own on this.

*Mods. Please remove link if this is seen as pimping. Posted in the best of faith.

This is exactly what I read here. If you're playing Madden 2006 on Xbox on Live, you'll be able to compete against people playing the same game (Madden 2006) on Xbox 2. Obviously, the Xbox 2 version of the same game.

This has nothing to do with BC, but simply with the fact that Xbox Live is accessible from both Xbox and Xbox 360 (and PC, I add).

It's quite clear to me. As long as someone is playing an Xbox 1 game on Xbox 2, you'll be able to play on live with that person through your Xbox 1. Madden 2006 Xbox 2 and Madden 2006 Xbox 1 will be completely different games, with totally different graphics, animation, physics etc. how do you expect them to play together?

Did you ask him about the content of the survey itself (ie if Xbox 360 would have BC) or did you just ask him about the survey then hang up?
