I'm going crazy over here!!!! I can't do anything anymore because IE keeps encountering a problem and shutting down. It happens randomly, but especially when I click a link. Does anyone know how to fix this? Also I can't go to the microsoft homepage to download a newer version or something. Oh and don't tell me to download Firefox because it's too slow on my computer.

My best edvise is to download and use Opera instead.

edit: If you still want IE (which is insane IMO), an update might save you (you can d/l updates from other sites too) but if it doesn't, I don't think you can do much about it. IE isn't the type of program you can uninstall and reinstall so that you can fix your problems. It could also be a spyware problem (IE is very vulnerable in this kinda stuff). Use Search and Destroy. Check the version of Java too.

I would suggest updating your AV software and taking that for as spin. Download Ad-Ware and Spybot S&D take them for a spin then see what is up. Once you clean your system I would not think about not thinking about firefox.

Thanks for your help Che, everyone is so full of firefox that I forgot all about Opera, but it seems like a very good program, I'm posting with it right now!

My main concern though, is that downloading another browser is, for me, kind of like running away from the problem. So I will definitely use search and destroy to check my system for spyware, although I'm pretty certain it won't find a lot of it.

And sorry for being a bit short in my first post, but I was afraid my browser would break down for the fourth time in a row.

FIREFOX EDIT: I ran Firefox a few moths ago, but my system just doesn't cut it (PII 350 mhz, 384 RAM, Geforce 2 MX) So Firefox is not an option for me.

heh well I can still do everything with it, except gaming. I can listen to winamp and browse the web while having two or three torrents and photoshop open and it all works fine. I can burn DVD's at 8x and play DVD's/divx/Xvid so i don't really see the need for a new computer. I have my PS2 and GC for my games fix.

Get Opera 8.

and yeah its alot less resource intensive and more stable than IE and Firefox. Opera also is better for security and inbuilt features.

40 GB Harddrive, pretty big four years ago, but I'm thinking of upgrading...or deleting my pron collection for space......what to do!?

I'm now really glad with Opera btw, so I guess IE really is a thing of the past for me.
