So iTunes match is a google beta or apple beta?
zazrx said:So how do I access the stuff in my cloud from my Windows 7 PC? I don't see the option anywhere on iTunes.... don't tell me I need a Mac computer for this to work...
This is a great tip. I went through again and now it's matched 10k out of 11k I have. At first it only matched 6k. Some more tips:scorcho said:okay - this is the same crap as it was with Lala - you'll need to have the scanner go through your collection multiple times in order for it to catch songs that it may have missed previously.
if you have a ton of songs missing, you'll have to stop the process at Step 3, then go to the menu and select Update iTunes Match to restart it.
First scan - ~8000 songs matched
Second scan - ~12000 songs matched
i'm now on my third round.

I see, thanks. Was hoping for this to be integrated into iTunes somehow but I guess going to a website works too.RPS37 said:
I see. I just thought you could like, browse the stuff that's in your cloud space from the computer.infiniteloop said:If you have the local files, there's nothing to access.

on your iPad or iPhone it'll stream while downloading onto the device. the audio track will be saved on the device.Tron 2.0 said:Has anyone tried to see if you can still "stream" music from iCloud?
Thanks.scorcho said:on your iPad or iPhone it'll stream while downloading onto the device. the audio track will be saved on the device.
in iTunes you can only download. once that's complete you can then listen to the album.
Baha, I would love it if my photos just appeared in a folder. I think on osx it has to go through iPhoto. Which is a terrible app, I don't even have it installed.RPS37 said:Word. The way that photo stream works on a PC is pretty lame.
It just automatically uploads your pictures to a folder that you choose, but you can't view your photos from itunes or anything which would be preferable.
Is there an easy way to go about doing that?giga said:I kind of want to erase all my local files that were matched and just redownload them from iTunes. Perfect 256kbps AAC encodes, album art, and metadata is enticing me. They keep all my ratings as well so I don't think I have much to lose.
First make a backup of all your current songs.Tron 2.0 said:Is there an easy way to go about doing that?

Then enable the "iCloud Status" column from my previous post. Sort by that column and select all the matched songs. Delete them but then make sure to keep this unchecked:

Then you'll just see your matched songs still there in your library but with an iCloud download button next to them. Select them all, right click, and download.

I think that was only true for a day or two until Apple issued a new beta version that changed it.Tron 2.0 said:Thanks.
With the beta you could "stream" a song by clicking on it (not clicking "download") and it would cache to your iPhone but not show up as "downloaded."
Is that no longer the case?
Thanks.Liu Kang Baking A Pie said:I think that was only true for a day or two until Apple issued a new beta version that changed it.
Anastacio said:So, about this iCloud stuff. Why don't the Pages and Numbers documents I write turn up automatically on the Mac? They do on the iPhone and iPad whenever I edit them, but on Mac, am I supposed to download the documents from iCloud.com all the time, like I just did?
I think you just saved me many future headaches. Can't wait to get home to see if this fixes my problem!zazrx said:Ok so what the hell is going on? iTunes keeps starting up randomly on my computer... as if I plugged in my iPhone or something...
Edit: nvm figured it out, I had the "Start iTunes when iPhone is connected to this computer" checked. That plus sync over wifi will make iTunes start randomly.

scorcho said:stupid iTunes Match - ripped a copy of Pavement's reissue of Brighten the Corners ages ago, and it was the only Pavement album that didn't get recongized.
take out the perfectly pristine CD, rip it using XLD to ensure a bit-perfect rip, encode it to MP3 and now all but 4 songs are recognized from the rip. redoing those songs doesn't change it at all.
...motherfucker.
Ken: Store -> Update iTunes Match

But Wario posted just today that:Ken Masters said:beta is over
Wario64 said:iTunes Match out http://www.theverge.com/2011/11/14/2561227/itunes-match-now-available
"Apple's pushed its iTunes Match feature live, with a new version of iTunes (10.5.1) to download that will do the magic. The service, which costs $24.99 a year, gives you iTunes Store-quality and cloud availability of all your music, whether you ripped it from a CD, bought it from another store, or, uh, otherwise acquired it. Apple naturally isn't crowing about that latter possibility, but some see the service as a concession to still-rampant piracy. Unlike some cloud services, you can't upload any of your own music. Instead, Apple matches your library up with its own set of tracks in the iTunes store that saves Apple the hassle of hard drive space, but that sweet album your brother and his band made in 1995 in the rec room won't be available to your other devices through the cloud, you'll still have to sync those the old fashioned way. The service is currently beta, and if you sign up now you get an extra three months free, but at the end of the beta you'll have to start over."
Gila said:I had to restore my phone cause their was a problem with the speaker (I couldn't hear any sound when I answered calls, but the receiver could hear my voice)..so I searched the macforums and they told me to restore the iPhone.
But now, it just keeps showing "restoring iPhone from backup" (It's done in like 4 mins) so it apparently gets restored but it doesn't backup. I've done this process about 5 times now, it just restarts and I have to go back and restart the process of restoring.
i imagine that means you're paying $25 for 15 months, not 12. there aren't free sign-ups.cooljeanius said:But Wario posted just today that:
That's the Verge being wrong again today about iTunes Match. He was referring to the beta testing period that just ended. Apple Developers could sign up for $25 to beta test it and would get a free 3 months extra for their trouble.cooljeanius said:But Wario posted just today that:

actually, let it go through step 3. it seems to still be verifying the song matches. on my Windows machine it's still uploading album artwork, but the # of songs keep rising at a pretty rapid rate.Ken Masters said:so it actually went up by 300 matches, so I'll take that as a good sign, I wasn't paying attention and didn't stop step 3 and I noticed it uploaded 600 songs, will iTunes match still look to match those uploaded songs?

also, where do I see the songs that are matched?

create a smart playlist in iTunes, and make the rule for it as iCloud Status is Matched. You can also change it to iCloud Status is Uploaded to verify what is being transferred.
i've now had iTunes uploading album art in the 3rd step for an hour and only seven obscure jazz tracks have been sent to Apple. in that time it's continuing to match songs.
