Hmm, what do I do - I have iOS5 Beta 7 on the iPhone 4 and iPad 1, and iTunes Beta on the Mac. Do I do this?

01) Back up everything.
02) Erase iTunes and download the new version.
03) Update the iPhone and iPad to iOS5 through iTunes.
04) Restore from backup on both iPhone and iPad.

?

Hurrah, it's updating it now!

Edit: Or not, the bastards. It got a little further than last time and then failed gain. Grrr.

Thats more then me, I get even get the download started

Yay! Up and running!

Such a terrific update - notifications and wifi sync are awesome updates. Reader is nice, too.

The only thing it bothers me is that I need to double tap the home button to bring the camera icon on the lock screen, imho it should just be there as default.

I guess tabbed browsing doesn't work on the iPhone, oh well this update may have just pushed me more interested in an iPad, why won't apple put newsstand and ibooks on the mac? I would rather use my laptop since I am at school all the time to read magazines and books, but it seems only amazon wants my money.

Maybe this has already been explained but how does one delete a photo from Photostream? It's going to be kinda annoying when I can't remove a blurry photo from there. I don't see an option to delete.

Trailers app is really nice. See ya flixster.

Oh FFS.

Set home sharing, ticked the allow wi-fi sync as instructed, synced while connected, re-started iTunes and the phone and I STILL get the greyed out Sync button that says "lol will do when Home is available".

Both are connected the Wi-fi and the iPhone is plugged in to the power...

Pulled my Mac out of the closet haven't used it in a long time...About an hour of software updates to download :(

Was getting "Error -34" even though the phone seems to be restored.

Trying again just to ensure iTunes and the phone are in step with each other.

Getting an error while doing the backup, it says something that the backup failed and if I want to continue, I won't be able to restore any of my iPad 2 information.

Just hitting cancel for the moment. Any ideas on what to do ?

There is none! NONE! Kinda weird.

Do those of us still running Snow Leopard get ANY iCloud love or is it a Lion-only feature? I have iOS 5 on my iPhone 4 and iPad, but apparently no way to sync them back to my computer because I don't have iCloud in my System Preferences? That kinda sucks :(

Tim Cook is a goofball he should have known ahead of time that the servers would get swamped today and plan accordingly!

They did by building a 1 billion dollar data centre... not much more you can do than that.

Did you sync once when it was connected via usb first? You have to do that.

By that you mean enable Home sharing? I did that and unchecked the "stop auto sync" option as well and then synced manually.

The sync button is still greyed out.

Home sharing has nothing to do with it. Just make sure 'sync this phone over wifi' is checked in the summary tab. Sync once, while this is checked, WITH THE PHONE PLUGGED INTO USB. Its now setup.

I feel like if I ever defeat this stupid Internal Error message, I feel like I should do shots or something...

This is just annoying, since It got as far as overriding the other software, but it won't update the new stuff..so.. I am like stuck on the recovery screen and i can't make a phone call :(

Well, took me many tries but looks like it got through. If it's a server problem, then either waiting or trying enough times should do the trick for everybody.

YES!

I was updating the macbook at the same time and funnily enough once that update had finished the iPhone update installed with no problems.

Now I'm getting "There is no SIM card installed on the iPhone you are attempting to activate" when I try to do it through iTunes instead of WiFi connection. I hope it's just Apple's servers getting hammered :(

For anyone else who was confused about the email address / Apple ID weirdness, DO NOT create a new Apple ID. Instead, go into your account settings and change your Apple ID to your primary email address. Voila!

Lion only. Just update.

Is it plugged into power? Is has to be plugged into power to sync

It is yes, I go into Settings, General, Itunes Wifi Sync and the Sync now button is grey, says it will resume when "Home" is available.

Itunes is open, I synced via USB AFTER selecting the tab on the Summary as well.

Might be a mistake, but... I'm updating on a machine that doesn't have my iPhone backup on it. Shouldn't be a problem once i get back to my main PC and sync it, right?

Fucks up when verifying with apple stage. Tried everything. Uk gaf manage to install os5?

Yep it's installed but is currently being restored now which is gonna take a while.

errors: 3200, 3002, and 1654.

tried both updating, force-updating (skips the drawn out backup) and force-restoring (skips the backup). blerg.

so i just wait for itunes to get its shit together?

it only gives me the option of restore to factory settings - which i aint doin - so i should wait for the server load to drop? my phone is stuck in recovery mode :(
