Hmm, what do I do - I have iOS5 Beta 7 on the iPhone 4 and iPad 1, and iTunes Beta on the Mac. Do I do this?

01) Back up everything.
02) Erase iTunes and download the new version.
03) Update the iPhone and iPad to iOS5 through iTunes.
04) Restore from backup on both iPhone and iPad.

?
Is this the correct way to do it?
I don't wanna screw anything up.

Not that easy, my iMac isn't properly equipped to run Lion. (Otherwise I would have updated the day it came out.)

Goddammit. :(

I'm sure if you wait a few days people will have found how to add them manually. Email is likely imap, addresses carddav, etc. you wont be able to get all features, but some is better than none.

For those stuck in recovery mode, why not right click on the phone and click 'Restore from Backup'?

Then just wait for this to blow over.

Anyone else having trouble with migrating from MobileMe to iCloud? It says it cannot be done at this time, even though the system status says all services are working.

Having the same exact issue.

Do those of us still running Snow Leopard get ANY iCloud love or is it a Lion-only feature? I have iOS 5 on my iPhone 4 and iPad, but apparently no way to sync them back to my computer because I don't have iCloud in my System Preferences? That kinda sucks :(

Start using Google's services if you want cloud based mail, contacts, or calendar then. It'll work pretty much the same.

i dont understand your comment. im a tard. this icloud shit is confusing.

right now, iTunes in the cloud is limited to stuff bought in iTunes. what you see is what you get.

after “iTunes match” comes out of private beta, you can pay apple 25 bucks a year to match your non-iTunes purchased songs and have those available in the cloud for all your devices.

I just did that 2 times and it gave me more wonderful error messages

If you guys with errors have been doing regular backups/synching, may be try a clean install? I'd restart the phone, restart computer/iTunes, then plug it back in and do a clean restore. You can always resynch your contacts/music etc after the phone is updated.

Of course, if you don't have a backup/synch that's good, I wouldn't recommend it.

Already did this, same results

Ie 'set up as a new phone'

just to be clear...non-itunes purchased music can not be uploaded to the cloud?

Requires iTunes Match due out later

Tried everything...still having "Internal Error Occurred"...fix this Apple.

Patience will fix it. Their authentication and download servers are just swamped right now.

Someone seriously needs to write an extensive FAQ for iCloud because a lot of it is confusing. Even the way the laid out the settings makes things hard to understand completely.

Best not to think about it and just turn everything on and let it do the rest.

Guess I'm the only one?
When that has happened to me, it's been due to an Exchange ActiveSync issue. I deleted the profile, restarted the phone, and added the profile again and all was well. From what I've read, it's due to a corrupt calendar item trying endlessly to sync and failing.

Not sure if that's your issue, but that's been the cause when I've experienced the hot phone/battery drain phenomenon.

ahh gotcha. Thanks. Will look into match next month.

+1 for a FAQ on all this.

I synced my device before updating, but when i right click it doesnt give me any option to restore from backup. :(

I swear I am getting more interference while on Edge than ever before. I moved my phone across the room and its still making my speakers freak out. Its doing it more while not in use. It does it a bunch while using Messages which is weird because the person I am texting gets iMessage so it should be on wireless. I had to turn on 3G to shut it up, but I hate to do that while at home. Hrm.

That's just not true because there are certain conditions when things get sync'd or updated to the cloud and when they don't. It's not best to just forget about it because then you may think you're backed up when you aren't.

My BIGGEST problem with my iPhone is that incoming texts/notifications completely STOP any video I'm watching. So if I'm streaming news video or watching a movie and I get a text, I have no choice but to dismiss the text and manually resume my video.

Does the new "non-intrusive" notifications in iOS5 resolve this issue for video playback?

Yay switching usb ports work!

What's the point of the notifications area? It just notifies me when I get a text? And is there a way to take the stock market off?

God, I hope so. Nothing is worse than watching HBO-GO and having it interrupted by some damn twitter or SMS notification.

It might be faster to just buy a 4s on friday then to wait for these downloads

Hmm.. that's strange. Not sure what the issue could be.

Any particular error? Maybe restore it to factory and then try restoring it from backup?

Judging by everything I've seen, it should resolve this. The non-intrusive notifications are non-modal, meaning they don't take control/focus away from the app.
