Anyone having problems with photo stream in iPhoto? I've got everything set up, took a photo on my phone but it's not showing up on my Mac.

Give it a few minutes. Did that to me but eventually updated.

I recommend everyone who is having issues to just go and do something else for a while. Try again in a few hrs.

Yay, finally support for subtitles for Netflix on AppleTV. Also love the WSJ addition.

Photostream for AppleTV is ridiculously awesome. So easy for my parents to check out photos Ive just taken.
Photostream will soooooo get a lot of people in trouble. I predict a class-action lawsuit soon :-)

Check your Photostream library on your iPhone. If it's not there or there is no photo in it, then you need to go back into settings and turn it on. This happened when I turned on Photostream in settings before using the camera (and selected "later" in the dialog you get the first time the camera launches thus setting it back off).

I don't know why I bother. I posted the five links when replying to you to illustrate to you that I had posted help/faq in the OP. I didn't post the five links to direct you to go to all five links. It was a quick copy/paste job.

Look, I appreciate the work you did for the OP, but it doesn't help the situation to post me five links and then complain that I think there are too many links referencing for help on the matter when you posted me five links showing there was a wealth of info out there in the OP. Especially when you really wanted to discuss two of the links only in the topic at hand. A much more simple but comprehensive FAQ could do wonders given the questions we're getting in this thread. Simple stuff like, when do I need to be plugged in, when do I need WiFi, what can be backed up over 3G. iCloud is such a dramatic shift that it's natural there is going to be some confusion and I think a nice FAQ could help aid that transition.

The help and faq don't cover all the information, no, but they do a good job. I disagree with your opinion that the Macworld FAQ doesn't have much information.

For something that calls itself an FAQ according to your link, it really doesn't have a lot of info. Even the article itself says it's more of a getting started guide rather than an FAQ. It's misleading for the amount of info it has.

Everyone just take a fucking breath, put down your iDevice, and go outside get some fresh air. Busy yourself with something else. Comeback later. Geez.

I'm going to install the new iTunes 10.5 now, will it be able to recognise my iPhone 4 which is still in iOS Beta? So that I can update it that way?

att iphone4 with the GM now says 'up to date' when i check for software updates on the phone.

verizon ipad2 i got the itunes-released ios5 on it via restore, icloud all set up.

icloud control panel set up, photostream works between my laptop, my iphone, and my ipad.

no one i know yet has ios5 on their phones/etc, so i cant test imessage yet in terms of the blue imessage bubble.

all apps up to date on both my iphone and ipad. yay, everything is done, wifi sync set up, used wifi to backup both to icloud, and......now i can go out this evening. woohoo.

You could have easily made a FAQ by now with the amount of time you spend trying to explain why you misunderstood my post or intentions.

Good idea. Then when everyone else is away, the process will go smoother for me!

So I'm trying out Newstand with Edge Magazine. Are other publications a better experience than this? I caved in and tried out a $5 magazine to see what it would be like and it really feels like it's just a PDF that I'm scrolling page by page. Even the index isn't great let alone the table of contents which is non interactive. On top of that, it just doesn't work well with being displayed on an iPhone. Maybe it would be more useful on an iPad, but if this is what Newstand is like, I just won't be using it at all on my phone.

I was on a random elevator in a parking garage today when someone said "Yeah, I know it's taking forever, but it'll eventually download. It's worth it, too. iCloud is awesome."

Wired and GQ are great examples of how to do magazines right. They're more interactive and made for the platform. But they are, of course, made for iPads not iPhones. The extra screen real estate is a must for magazines.

i love it when you try to update your iPhone 4 and it just deletes everything off of it then takes 2 hours to install it all back. gosh I'm a lucky sod.

I really hate that I can't delete Apple's mandatory apps. Is there really no way for me to hide or get rid of the new tiles? I'm never going to use the Newsstand or Reminders or half of the other forced apps. And I can't even hide Newsstand in a folder. Ugh.

Um... As I mentioned in an earlier post I got a "Please verify the contact email address for your Apple ID" after I logged in for icloud.

Did anyone else got this? Could it be a scam to get my info?

Ya, I'm doing a lot of zooming in since the formatting is clealry just an image of what the magazine layout normally is. It just seems like a chore to read. I thought it might be neat every now and then but now I feel Newstand is just wasting space on my phone. Hopefully a jailbreak app will let me hide it.

So iTunes Cloud works for music and TV shows. But does it work for movies?

And what about movies you've downloaded through iTunes that were "digital copies" included with a Blu-Ray or DVD purchase? Do those not count as "purchased" items from iTunes?

Dammit, I wanna go home and update

Fucking studying :(

E/ nvm seems like everyone's getting errors and whatnot. Imma wait till tonight then

Yeah I was kind of surprised they even put it on the iPhone release - I don't think anyone's really going to be using it :/

What the hell happened? I did the update, it wiped out all my music and apps. Now when I try to do a restore in itunes it tells me "this will reset it to factory defaults."

When I do a sync, the songs in the library and apps don't sync. Fantastic.

All my apps are on itunes in windows. How do I sync only my apps to my ipad?

Gah, do I have to do it individually?
Shift select works... hmm good good.

The more I'm dwelling on it, the more burned I feel about the $5 lost. I wish there was a way I could get my money back. It really is almost useless. I may actually write my first app review cuz of this.

If it's anything like EDGE in Zinio, then it's worth it to me, be it "just like a PDF" or not, it's great and will be even more fantastic with a Retina iPad. Of course trailers and a little interaction would be welcome, but hopefully it won't take it as far as the Al Gore developed magazine.

It's barely taking up any extra space. There used to be a title bar. That's gone now. Whatever cramped feeling you're having is nearly the same as the not-cramped feeling you had before.
New Safari sounds really messed up :/

I really think iCloud is going to be a clusterfuck for houses that have multiple Apple users that share somethings but not others.

For example, my girlfriend and I share the same purchased applications, music, and videos. We have separate Game Center accounts. We have separate Twitter accounts. We do not share mail, calendars, contacts, reminders, bookmarks, notes, photos, or application data/documents.

So how do I set up her phone so that she shares the same iTunes/shop account but has her own separate iCloud account?

Edit: Bonus controversy; we do want to share photos on desktop platforms, so iPhoto should be able to download photo streams from both hypothetical accounts :p

Seriously, waiting for this thing to back up for 20 minutes, and then fail connecting to the server (after I've completely downloaded the update file earlier today) is fucking ridiculous.

is there a to get rid of the weather and stocks icon on the home screen being as though they are now widgets?

edit: nevermind...i found out you can't.

Simple table of content links to articles or even an index that let's me jump around easier would be nice. Formatting that will let me read easier on the phone would be nice too. Right now, it's zoom, scroll around, zoom out, zoom, scroll around.... it's kinda annoying.

Also how do I get rid of the notification badge on Newstand? It's telling me I have something new, I've opened it and looked at it, but the badge won't go away.

Great, an error occurred while updating my iPad. Now I've gotta do a restore.

Buy some more damn servers with all that money you've got Apple.

So the update error'd out on me and now I''m having to restore my phone... problem is I can't because that's giving me an error too. Right now my phone is completely useless.

Great!

I believe you each use your unique Apple ID for your iCloud account. Simply associating a shared account would be secondary and everything on the phone is backed up without a hitch.

I thought you could have separate Apple ID's and link them?

You do the same you've been doing so far, and setup her iCloud with her own Apple ID. Same for your own iCloud.

She just won't be getting automatic downloads from your account, but by all means she'll still be able to sync her devices with the same computer to get your apps/stuff and even log into your account on her device to get your stuff directly... without messing up her iCloud at all.

Edit: Bonus controversy; we do want to share photos on desktop platforms, so iPhoto should be able to download photo streams from both hypothetical accounts :p
You won't be getting that.

So basically you won't lose any bonus from sharing accounts and stuff but you won't get extra benefits from iCloud. That's pretty much for single user purposes atm.

EDGE magazine on iPad is a major UI disappointment (all old zinio stuff feels this way). nothing has been done to reformat the text from the printed page to the ipad screen. so text is way too small for a 10” screen when it was laid out for something larger. this requires pinching and zooming around. it’s just a straight up image dump of the print edition.

a shame but I can’t justify 40 bucks a year for a subpar experience, despite the quality of the writing. if they start to reformat articles for the screen size and the capabilities of the device, I’d jump in.

This sounds mad confusing. haha

I am absolutely loving this update on my iPad 2 but it's gonna take a little getting used to typing with the split, undocked keyboard, but I'm already making good progress. Something I was wondering though; can you adjust the position of the undocked keyboard? Not a big deal if you cant since when it's undocked it's pretty much in the perfect position.

Does iMessage tell you if the message has been "read" by the recipient? That's one of BBMs strengths, you know when someone's read your message or not.

Oh lord I do not know what is possessing me to update both my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 at the same time on the same computer.

Also wtf is with Apple's download servers, it says it is going to take 3 hours and I have a 35Mbps connection.

Yes.

without being too thick can anyone advise: i already have an @me.com address/login, however my iTunes account isn't this account, do i migrate my me.com to iCloud then use that as the iCloud login even though its not my iTunes account etc?

Yes. It's an option in settings.
