iOS 5 & iCloud |OT|

Can you view what is actually being stored on iCloud from Windows? I installed the control panel thing but I can't seem to find the information I'm looking for.

I think I've got just about everything set up. Kind of a pain in the ass but it's all working well so far. And I gotta say I'm shocked by how smooth iOS5 is on my 3GS. But I'm scared for what's gonna happen when 5.1 drops...

just updated, does imessage have to be downloaded from the app store? didnt appear after the update. or is it unavailable for 3gs?

It's built right into the standard text message app. Messages.

You have to go into settings though, and then messages settings, and add an email address to allow iMessages to work.

I went ahead and purchased the $20/10GB iCloud upgrade for a total of 15GB. Now I can let my iPad and iPhone back up without worrying about micro-managing individual apps.
you mean it counts your apps as part of that storage when it's fucking redundant since apple already has those apps on their servers anyways?

Sorry if it's been repetitive: Am I screwed if I've always been manually putting music into my itouch? I never liked using the iTunes Library to put all my stuff, and I always installed apps directly from the app store from my itouch, so I'm not sure if restoring from a backup will help D:

Sigh, I hate the fact they still don't allow you to delete the numerous useless apps (Stocks and Weather). No one who actually cares about their money would follow their stocks via a non-real time ticker.. it's insane and that hasn't been a relavent way to do it for at least 15 years now! .

I use the weather, but I'm totally in agreement with you over the stocks.

Also, the wi-fi syncing requires you plug-in to a power source to sync? Wha? If I have to plug into something, why wouldn't I just use my computer's USB cable?

To be honest, it may go faster. Same thing happened to me.

I feel like i am going insane with this crap. now my iphone download got stuck on my other pc so now i have to wait another 4 hours. wtf.

Can just one thing go right today for me. ugh.

Actually it doesn't, I've done wireless syncing from my phone several times without it being plugged in.

It's weird that it says that, because I've already synced without being plugged into anything.

So I downloaded the iTunes beta last week, as well as the iOS 5. Updated my phone and iPad and everything was all good.

Well, now I'm trying to update my wife's phone, and it's telling me that iTunes needs to be updated in order to install iOS 5 on her phone. But when I check for a new version of iTunes it tells me I have the newest version. :/

What gives?

I'm quoting myself for the new page. Hopefully someone else knows why this is happening to some of us.

The limited future forecast and lack of doppler, etc. makes it very limited. Weatherbug Elite is 99 cents.. just pointless to have the on-board app.

Is there any reason why I should ditch my google ical settings on go with icloud? I have an iphone 4, ipad 2 and imac all of witch share my google calendar at the moment.

The best thing about iOS5 is that we'll never have to go through updating our iOS devices with a pc/mac. We can finally cut the cord for good.

no

Do you have to go through Settings -> General -> iTunes Wi-Fi Sync to force it via Sync Now? Or will it automatically sync without the press of the button while you're not plugged in?

That is a really nice feature. I was happy to see that.. but at the same point in time, if the update itself isn't faster it really makes it fairly unrealistic to do it unless you're at home and not in "need" of your phone.

Are you a new race of superhuman that doesn't sleep at night? I'm fucking pumped to wake up every morning with all my new podcasts on my phone without having to do anything. Awesome.

Are reminders supposed to show up on in the notification center? If so, I can't get them too. :(

Also, can you view these things while in the lock screen? I saw the option but nothing happens when I set it to on.

So when none of my 3rd party apps will load, does that mean I need to do another restore of my apps eventhough I went through the restoring apps dialog after the update?

They will only show up if you set a due date and you are within a day or two of that date.

iPhone Question:

Why is my "Photo Stream" album empty?

I'm taking photos, but nothing is populating the folder on my PC, and only the Camera Roll album is being filled with photos on my iPhone.

Thanks for any help.

[edit] Alright, it decided to sync 2 of the photos in my Camera Roll. How can I force the rest? :/

Crazy question.

Does anyone know what time an iCloud backup is done via wifi?? Once a night/day it is supposed to do a backup if you turn the feature on.

I'm getting a 64GB 4S and planning on filling that baby up but up to 64GB of uploading is gonna take a while.

Did you enable Photo Steam in your iPhone settings? Did you download the iCloud Control Panel for Windows?

Did you turn photo stream on?

Yep. It would appear it's just kicked in, but photos taken prior to iCloud's lighting up are not being sucked in. How might one force them into the cloud?

Photo Stream appears to possess a significant amount of lag between devices as well. There are several photos in iCloud according to my iPhone, but my PC's Photo Stream folder is empty as a dingleberry.

Question for you guys. None of my notifications are appearing on my lock screen even though they are set to on (mail, reminders, etc, each one is set to on to appear on lock screen). Anyone else having the same problem?

So are the only 'widgets' or whatever for Notification Center are Weather and Stocks? That's kind of lame lol. I'd love to be able to show reminders and eBay stuff and whatnot even when it isn't expressly notifying/alerting me about something.
