iPad2 ONLY. Despite it working perfectly well on iPad 1 in beta, this is another artificial restriction to 'encourage' upgrades.

I agree though, that closing, and swiping between apps is great. I'll enjoy it on my iPad 3 ;)
Oh I didn't realise that. Sucks for you iPad 1 owners. :( I don't see why iPad 2 shouldn't get Siri either... grrr Apple. Grrr.

A few questions (feel free to answer all or none of them ;) )

- Is iTunes matching live yet? If so, when?
- I upgraded early with the iTunes beta and the GM copy of iOS 5. Will I be ok with future updates, or will I have to recover the phone to access the updates?
- What are the new multi-touch gestures on the iPad?

So I'm still getting problems trying to update iTunes to 10.5 on Windows 7 32-bit. It stops at 8.90MB of 9.10MB with Apple Software Update, and when I try to grab it through a browser from itunes.com it fails right at the end with different browsers. Anyone else run up against this?

Edit: FIXED: After choosing the update from Tools > Download Only, it gave me an 'invalid signature' error, which was what I needed to get a useful Google going. I fixed this by going to Programs and Features in Control Panel, finding Apple Software Update, and hitting Repair. After that completed I was able to load up iTunes and update it with no issue.

4 finger swipe up for the multitasking bar, 4 finger swipe left and right to quickly switch between open/recently opened apps, 4 finger pinch to close app.

I think that's all?

Multitouch gestures + Fruit Ninja = bad :(
If you were a real ninja you wouldn't need more than one finger ;)

You can turn them off...

Nice, I created an @me.com email for myself, signed into iCloud and checked it out. Super impressive, wish I could re-route all my gmail/yahoo emails to this one and read them in the cloud.

uh, gmail and yahoo already have their email 'in the cloud'.

:lol Duh, but what I meant was i'd like a unified email. About the iPad 1 and gestures, didn't 4.3 have gestures? They actually REMOVED this feature? Makes no godamn sense.

Im confused how iMessage works. My friend has iOS5 and when i attempt to message him i can either send to his e-mail (iMessage) or his iPhone (which is a text).

Is this normal? I assumed it would be more fluid.

How do I access Notification center?

Drag the bar at the top (where the time is), down.

Forward gmail and yahoo to @me. I have hotmail and gmail. @me is better than hotmail for sure, but trying to decide if it's worth leaving gmail for.

Forwarding makes this simple. Don't even have to tell your contacts your new email address.

D'oh!

Thanks.

I think it's worth it, tbh. Nice and clean. And how do I forward emails from those to @me? Or do you mean manually and not automatically?

Swipe down from the top of the screen, access it whereva wheneva.

My location-based reminder didn't remind me when I left my location :(

Do you both have iOS5? Do you both have iMessage turned on?

It is seamless for me. It shows a green button for SMS recipients and a blue button for iMessage recipients. iMessage seems a lot faster than SMS too.

For some reason, I keep getting error messages whenever I turn on iCloud on my iPad 2. It says "iCloud backup failed." Yet it works perfectly on my iPhone 4. Anyone else have this problem?

Very easily. Yahoo I don't know but I'm sure it's in your email options somewhere.

Gmail just click mail settings and go to the forwarding tab and add the @me email.

It's pretty simple for any email provider. Just go to your options.

I'm turning off iMessenger, not only does it seem to really eat away the battery but it's a bit hit and miss. I just tried to send an MMS there and it took forever to try and send, then when I finally thought it did, it says it sent it as a txt message :/ Plus sometimes it won't send in iMessage so have to send it as a txt anyways.

Yes it's quicker and has it perks but it's a bit too problamtic at the mo.

Sometimes it takes a while, or some decent distance between you and the location you left.

Nice, i'll look into it. Doubt Yahoo allows it though, they're pricks and charge for such features last I checked, which was why Yahoo mail on iPhone 1 was a big deal since it 'pushed' new stuff.

Thanks though.

Sorry if this has been covered but why the f do I have a GameStop ad in my multitasking menu. The brightness and volume menu to be specific.

Love it, especially message delivery messages & find friends.

Not being able to put newsstand in a folder is going to drie me bonkers.

Not saving me notifications order will send me batty too.

Can't wait to dig into it more and find stuff that's & more stuff that doesn't work.

... take a screenshot and upload it. Go to the menu in question, home the home button, press the top button. Upload it. I've never heard of anything like this before and it certainly isn't happening for me.

Buy cheap used videogames at Gamestop, obviously.

You now have this "swipe down"-option with weather, notifications etc. Can I put more stuff in there?

Edit: Btw. the option to have the camera already in the lock screen is pretty nice and fast!
Wait, how do you put the camera on the lock screen? I know you can enable it manually by double tapping the Home button.

The new OS works wonders. I'm was expecting bigger changes, but the smaller ones keep surprising me. I keep fiddling with everything to find new stuff.

However, I am a bit annoyed that the notifications don't work like a live feed. Once you've read you're new emails, messages or missed calls, they disappear. Oh well.

Is anyone else bothered by this?

I understand the need to show notifications, but the lockscreen background seems almost pointless now.

If you didn't have three copies of Twitter contacting you, you'd have most of your background back.

You can turn off lock screen notifications.
I'll probably end up jailbreaking and disabling the lockscreen GUI entirely, if that's possible. All I really need is a clock and a group of app icons for notifications. I'm hoping it's not too difficult, though, because I've had a bit of trouble with that in the past.

Yep, actually managed to get my name too. I can see me starting to migrate over slowly (helps that I'm planning on getting a Mac next too).

Yes and Yes.

Hes separated into two contacts. An SMS one and an iMessage field :S

I've had a couple of niggling problems with iCloud - first I ended up with two of everything in my calendar, then it wouldn't push changes to my phone but would everything else - but now that I've got it all working smoothly it's great. At one point I was thinking of subscribing to MobileMe just to sync my contacts and calendars automatically, so I'm happy.

It falls back to SMS in the event that it can't get a data signal (Wifi/3G) as far as I can gather, so it'll depend on the quality of your data connection.

You realize you can turn off notifications by app, right? You don't have to let EVERY app post something to the lock screen. Just go to Settings/Notifications/(whatever app)/and turn off "View in lock screen." It's not that hard.

Question there was a bug (at least I think it was a bug) in IOS4 where if you were on a call and you hit the standby button it hangs up your call. In IOS3 it didn't do that, can anyone test it and see if it still hangs up in IOS5?

Also does icloud take your game saves to the cloud?

You can end up with "double entries" if you happen to sync with multiple services (e.g. iCloud/Gmail etc.) since the contact book by default shows all sources and doesn't merge them into 1 entry. You can pick to only view one source of contacts in the app similarly to how you can view only 1 mailbox in the Mail app if you want to. Personally, I find syncing with just one works best - just one source to manage.
