Okay, so I've got a question that's always bothered me. Why does iTunes sometimes splinter an album? For example, right now "Relationship of Command" is split into two albums, the first one only contains track 1, while the second album contains tracks 2-13. No matter what I do, I can not seem to merge the album as one, and it transfers to my phone as two albums. If someone can help with this issue I'd greatly appreciate it.

Typically what I do when this happens is this:
- Select every track
- Delete the artist and retype it.
- Delete the album and retype it.
- Delete the album artist (and if it's a compilation, type in Various Artists--but here you'd just leave it blank)
- Make sure "part of a compilation" is either checked / Yes for every track, or unchecked / No for every track.

What about the other fields?

I usually use MP3TAG if I'm having issues with this kind of thing, gives a better overall view of the tag information and handles bulk changes better (also allows you to do some scripting for bulk changes). Give that a try (it's free, you can donate if you choose I believe).

Pretty disappointed that even when you back up to iCloud and then delete a game and redownload it to the same device, the save data isn't there anymore. I guess if you want to delete a game from your iDevice and reinstall it back with the save data still intact, you still have to use iTunes.

iCloud backups are for restores. iCloud backup restores don't require iTunes.

I was hoping that if I needed space, I could back up to iCloud, delete a game, redownload it down the line whenever I want and iCloud would put back the save data for it. Would have been really convenient for me.

I have a feeling that it would probably never happen since it would incentivize people buying smaller capacity iDevices and just deleting and redownloading games more often which would mean less money for Apple.

Finally got to download ios5 and the one thing I wanted corrected most has not been fixed.

It seems even with iso5 there is no way to delete pictures from an Ipad without computer syncing? And is this the same case with an Iphone 4s?

If you make the album on the phone then you can delete it. but if the album you created was from iPhoto then you gotta sync. I'm not sure about any other app on the mac/windows though.
That includes the pictures inside those albums, unless you edit and resave them to your camera roll.. but then whats the point of that..

That's what I noticed. I can only delete pictures on the iPad if I created them on the ipad (i.e. coping a picture from one album to another on the ipad). If this is the same case with the iphone 4S then that may be a deal breaker for me. I should be able to modify the contents of my cell phone without the use of Itunes!

I guess I'll live with the limitation on the ipad 2.

The only thing I've ever worried about is the screen brightness. Nothing else seems to take up any real power.

keep on location services. don't turn it off.

an app is only using location services (and draining battery faster) if that arrow icon appears in the menu bar. otherwise, it's not making a difference.

a lot of folks on gaf overthink the amount of administration work they need to do to get good battery life from the phone. Apple does a lot of this for you.

Optimize Your Settings

You can actually do it now, but once you go out of the YouTube app you gotta press play in the multitasking pane or the lock screen.

Edit: At least you can on the iPhone. But I assume the iPad too.

Correct. But they really should add a setting on the YouTube app that gives you the option for the audio to play continuously.

Buy iCab. Seriously. You can browse to mobile youtube and play songs from there. One swipe from right to left let's you browse in another tab, while YT keeps playing in the background.

Bit more expensive solution, but it's also 10x more convenient, imo.

How on Earth is swiping left to right to open the app and right to left to close it confusing? Especially when it's a damn notification? You're swiping the app's icon to open it, so if you don't want the notification, you don't swipe the icon. It's the simplest thing in the world.

Believe me there are people out there who would easily get tripped up by this. I honestly don't see why unlocking the phone to clear out the lock screen notifications is a big deal. If there are notifications on there you don't care about then ignore them and once you unlock the phone to take care of the ones you do care about they are gone.

The only problem is there are times when I see the arrow and I can't figure out what is causing it and it stays there for awhile draining my battery. I'd like to limit that.

On a different note, I set up a location based reminder for my wife on her phone today, and I don't get why it was telling me the location was named "Home" for the hospital I selected. It seems rather odd and I'm not sure how that got defined from just selecting it. Also afterward, the GPS arrow was on her phone. Is that going to stay on until the reminder is hit so it can tell? Is her phone going to get drained of battery today because of it?

It still said iMessages in the type box when I sent the messages. That is a big problem for me. And incredibly stupid. For local contacts it is fine since I have a text plan and most people do to cover that. Doing that with international contacts is a BIG NO NO!!!

But some situations it makes sense, ie. local contacts. It's a handy feature but still flawed.

You should be able to turn it off for international contacts only. Keep it on for local ones.

I hope this happens soon. Basically had to download iexplorer on my PC to work-around transferring my Angry Birds saves between phones. An annoyance, but it wasn't too bad.

If there was a way for iCloud to just back up everything - including game saves and game settings between devices, that's one less program I need to download to make it happen.

Don't really understand Photo Stream.
There is no method of managing my files. I can't even manually pick which photo to delete without wiping out all of the photo stream data all at once. I also can't pick what photo go to iCloud. The new pics I took do not appear on iCloud.

Surely that's exactly the same as this; inferior if the post below yours is correct. My photos are available for viewing on whichever iOS device I log in to and fully downloaded to my Mac.

Not exactly the same, obviously. The Google+ instant upload is far more convenient for general use since it's platform agnostic. However, as another poster already stated, you don't get the full uncompressed image. This is where iCloud syncing has the advantage. However, it will only show up in whatever folder you set on your Windows PC, or on any Apple device running iOS 5 or Mac OS X Lion. It would be really cool if they added support to view your photostream on iCloud.com Maybe someday they will.

It's not a service like Flickr or Picasa, it's purely a mechanism for delivering your photos to your attached devices - hence the 1000 photo limit/30 day timeout.

Doesn't show up for me in the main notifications page either, but there are settings in the app itself (... > settings > notifications).

You sure you have the most recent version of the official Twitter app? Also, are you signed in to the system Twitter via the main settings?

The same thing happened to me. I ended up turning my phone off then back on. Fixed the problem.

Is there any way to set the notification style on a per-account basis? I want pop-ups for emails from Gmail, but I don't want them for my work email. I have my work email set to manual fetch, so I don't have to worry about them normally, but whenever I manually refresh my work email, I get a bunch of pop-ups. Really annoying...

Ever since I updated to iOS 5 I have an annoying problem on my iPod Touch. When I'm listening to music, I'll take the iPod out of my pocket, press the home button twice to bring up the music control on the lock screen. This still happens but whenever I press "next" to skip songs it will go to the next song and will then pause for half a second and then resume play. This is extremely annoying when I want to skip through like 10 songs at a time.

Anyone hear of this problem?
