Translated from the game's site
The pilot Nolan Carter crashes on a distant planet. To survive, he follows a mysterious, rhythmic signal to its source, he hopes for help. What he discovered, however, all calls into question what he has not believed in and makes him doubt his sanity.
Monolith is a classic adventure that tells a science fiction short story. The average game time will be around 4 to 5 hours.
Style and atmosphere of the 50 detailed, hand-drawn scenes based on genre models such as "The Dig" or "Beneath a Steel Sky".
Cel-shading technology provides a perfect combination of 3D characters and 2D backgrounds.
The game will be released in Q2 2015 for Windows, iOS and Android.
Adding Gunbrick to my purchase list, the flash game was great but the mobile version looks to top it by far, especially with dat art.
Have you played Meltdown? If so compare it to Space Marshalls
It's much more story oriented. Dialog boxes, etc. Little slower paced than Meltdown but the AI seems pretty aggressive (so don't think it's a cake walk). Even though stealth is not required, you definitely should use it if you want to be successful (at least the cover shooting option, but sneaking up on enemies is also cool).
I haven't played it real long but really like what I have played so far.
That sounds great. Been wondering how well the stealth works ever since it was announced (I love stealth games). Is it a sufficient enough system to go completely stealth, or is it for mostly just a bit of an upper hand befor starting a battle?
Is there a stealthy sort of takedown ability if you sneak behind a guy or something?
And thanks for the translation Bronx
One of the games I played and loved more than any of the others in 2014 was Hoplite. It didnt make it onto our Bestest Best list because it was released in December of 2013. On iOS. Its a single-screen turn-based tactical game with a handful of enemy types and special abilities that can be played to completion in less than half an hour, and it has one of the tightest and smartest rulesets in existence.
The Depths of Tolagal, a commercially released expanded version of a free browser game, is a full roguelike experience with some of Hoplites tactical trickery threaded through its design. I could spend thousands of words on Hoplite without properly articulating its genius, but, in part, its a simple case of the challenge being perfectly pitched. As soon as a level begins, everything is predictable every movement of every enemy and every hitpoint lost or taken which means that failure can always be traced back to one of your decisions.
Holy moly - that was a serious price increase Apple just enacted in the EU app-store.
For instance the Baldur's Gate games went from the equivalent of 8,72 to 10,6 in my store. Dragon Quest 8 just crawled above 21.
Auch.
Thanks for the info awp. That's a tad of a let down. Would like to see a fleshing out of the stealth aspects in further episodes.
Is the game linear? Or do you like pick what missions to go on? How does it work?
Game seems linear but there is a world map so not sure if that changes (so far the main use is if you want to replay a mission to achieve a higher score).
Out of curiosity, I asked Pixelbite on Twitter about more stealth attacks. They said there are more in development.
Apparently you do get access to a throwing axe (obviously would be quieter) at some point in the current version.
A few pages back:Is there going to be a January thread? Or we partying like it is 2014?
Given that it's past a week into January, I guess it would be good to move to a new thread. I'd start it, but I have my hands filled with other stuff at the momentI may not have time to put up January's thread in a timely manner. Anyone else want to jump in as host on short notice?
Pako got updated with new levels and vehicles

Kingdom is an atmospheric exploration/strategy game. It is about taking the time to notice your environment and enjoying it, but using what you learn to your advantage. It's simple but difficult. Establish a kingdom and ride out to discover how the world changes. Supply coins to your loyal citizens to build an economy and a fortress. Defeat is inevitable, so have a last look at the sun as it sets on your kingdom.

^^^ Why did you post that JCho?!?!?
I've had some interest in that game due to those animations but held off. Now, what is going to hold me back from buying it?
Urghh, I'm going to drown in a sea of iOS apps.
... Just... One... More... App....
Valiant Hearts is IGN's free game of the month:

Do codes run out, it keeps telling me that the code has been already redeemed.Nice.
Nice.

Just want to mention that you'll only get the first chapter for free. You'll have to pony up for the rest! (But it's well worth it).
Wow, they should really mention that somewhere instead of implying the game is free. How many chapters are there?
Space Marshal is so much better than Meltdown IMO. Just the fact that you can aim without shooting and can cancel your shots tell you that this isn't your typical dual-stuck shooter. Stealth is a tool in your arsenal rather than the focus, allowing you to flank enemies, get critical hits, trick enemies into grouping up to take them out with grenades. The controls feel tight and are very responsive, allowing you to seamless crouch and move into cover or swap guns. A hub area between areas let you modify your loadout and gear, from various body armor and grenades to SMGs, assault rifles, sawed-off shotguns, and more. The visuals are detailed, the environments are varied, and the shooting feels satisfying
I've been playing kotor on the iPad fora couple hours. I dig it but steam has it on sale for $4.99. Should I give up on the iOS version and play it on pc?
Hey JCho, how did you hear about that Dolphin sale anyway? I guess it has something to do with the price changes going on around the world but AppZapp is dead in the water right now. Hasn't updated with sales in like 20 hours.
Hero Emblems is so good.
Because the iOS version of every game is always the worst. I was reading a thread yesterday about Final Fantasy VI, in which many people were against the iOS version without even trying it.I don't see why. I have played both versions and the iOS is the better one. Native wide screen and cloud saves.
Hero Emblems is so good.
This.
Finally able to buy, played 1 hour straight.
Soooo good.
OMG! Hero Emblems is sooooooooooooo good! Such a great rpg/puzzle/brawler-mix!
Glad to see people picking up this game. Really great stuff. So much better than all the crappy F2P "RPG" match threes. Just amazing quality for a small dev.
