iOS Gaming September 2015 | GOing back to school with a backlog

I'm surprised that the Mini 4's pricing is in line with the Mini 3 in Canada despite of the fact that the 6s totally adjusted itself to align with the most recent exchange rate with the USD

It still starts at $440 and goes up in $110 increments. for 16/64/128

Not that $550 pretax and precase in cheap for me in any way.

Hopefully I can save up to get one during the holidays

As far as I know, as for my tastes, these are the games coming in September:

Gravity Duck 2 from Ravenous Games (VVVVVV... with a duck)
Hopiko from the dev of ALONE... (wierd cool "platofrmer"?)
Astra from Fabuloso Games (greek inspired platformer)

The rest of the games releasing in 2015, for my tastes of course:

Super Meat Boy Forever (so hyyyyyyyppppeeeeeeeed)
Vector 2
BeMuse
Love You To Bits
Lynn and the Spirits of Inao
Mini Metro
Cloud Chasers
Punch Club
new game from Nitrome

Also, bought some over due Coin Doublers and Remove Ads IAP.. only to delete the game shortly after... more like a "thank you Dev" farewell.

^^ Yes, Tetrabot is quite good. Actually need to start playing it again... Too many good games!

Yes it is. Up until june it was my favorite release of the year. Lovely stuff. Hard as nails but based in logic. Perfect point and click movement, drag crates to shoot. Will test your brain, some levels are ingenious and devious at the same time, requiring some brainpower to solve, something great since a lot of the newer games aren't like that (Divide by Sheep is another one). Graphics are also top notch with fluid and colorful animations, lovely protagonist. You can't get much better games than Tetrobot & Co.

Also, Splot, a racer platformer hybrid is on sale for a buck, just 1€/$, very highly polished, premium app, fun, etc... I love it. For 1$... buy it (All Gafers). Wont regret your dollar I assure you all.

I was reading Pocket Tactics' new article on the KoDP successor Six Ages, and I was surprised to learn that the mobile version of KoDP sold much much better on mobile than the original desktop version. That seems like a rare occurrence

That's exciting news!

I'd imagine that greater KoDP sales on mobile are merely a function of digital distribution and huge platform base. It would seem that a retail-only disc version of the game back in '99 would have been an incredibly niche proposition.

Glad it found greater success on mobile and even more excited to hear about Six Ages. As for the short term, I can't wait to get my hands on 6s Plus in a couple weeks so I can reinstall DP and play it on a much bigger screen!

I'm playing Storm Casters Ultra (which is awesome btw), but it made me realize that I wouldn't watching ads in games if the ads were for movies, TV shows, and PC/console games. Why do they always have to be for run-of-the-mill base builders and whatnot?

Because that's the F2P crap that requires their publishers to brainwashing players into thinking they like them and need to spend more money on them. "Player acquisition"

Today Halfbrick let go two of its long time designers, Layton Hawkes and Ryan Langley. Two designers.

That may not seem like much but, according to some, it’s part of an ongoing shift at Australia’s most successful game studio. A move that’s taking Halfbrick away from it’s previous focus as a design-orientated games developer to something else entirely.

In short: Halfbrick has no designers left on staff. At all. Literally the role of ‘designer’ has been made redundant at Halfbrick. They have no designers and they won’t be hiring new designers.

http://www.kotaku.com.au/2015/09/whats-going-on-at-halfbrick/

Maybe I'm being overly hopeful, but it would be cool if they shifted gears to be an indie-focused publisher, kind of like a Devolver Digital for mobile
“Halfbrick will continue to develop mobile games that are fun and innovative while remaining relevant by creating experiences that resonate with what mobile gamers expect today. There are new games and exciting partnerships on the horizon and we will be sharing these with you very soon.”

That really sucks. Halfbrick was an iOS pioneer.

Yes they were. First they lose Luke Muscat, responsible for Jetpack Joyride and Fruit Ninja, both amongst the first awesome iOS games to arise on the platform who now created PrettyGreat and will be releasing Land Sliders on his own soon, and now this. HalfBrick, I hope you come back as you were the greatest back on the iOS golden age.

Following @AppStoreGames today's initiative, I would like to share my games page. What about yours? Care to share?

PD: iOS 9.1. I uninstalled the Sorcery! trilogy since the fourth part is underway, prefer to finish them one after the other one and end the series at once since your actions move from one to another and I dont have much space to deal with... and I have another hidden folder deep within another folder with more apps that I can't delete -not like I want to-, like Worm Run, Out There, Splot, Race The Sun, Dragon Hills, Alto's Adventure, Boson X,...

Not sure whether you were implying it, but Luke isn't on his own as such. He has two others from Halfbrick that with him, so he has some great support.

Halfbrick CEO, Shainiel, will be coming over to Wellington for a conference here in a couple of months as a speaker, so will be interesting to chat about where he is taking things. Have known him pretty much from the year his studio started, I think over a decade ago, so crazy to think how much has changed since then both internally and within the greater market.

Sorry for the confusion, I knew that two others left with him as well, wasn't implying it. That will be a great chat with Shainiel, please tell us something when you have it, we are dying to know about the future of Halfbrick.

And also, my new Twitter header...

I have 4 promo codes for the SpaceChem/Perfect Paths-esque puzzler The Sequence
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq3Q0OR1NeU

It's already out on Android, coming to IOS on the 25th

Anyone interested?

If no one else takes you up on the offer, I'll take one. Otherwise I can grab it on Android so others here can give it a shot. Has a 4.8 rating on Google Play with reviews that sound great and is only a buck. Sounds quite promising!

^^^^ That looks like an extreme challenge, maybe too extreme for me as I watched the video and still dont understand it lol

It is kind of funny though. I liked Perfect Paths but found Space Chem a little more daunting and not so much for me so I'm wondering which side of the fence this falls on.

Pretty simple. Need to get the node to the output area using different tools. The challenge comes from figuring how to use the tools together, in such a way that the process loops without any collisions

More on the Perfect Paths side. More complex tools than Perfect Paths, but less daunting than SpaceChem

Okay, so Sequence gets tricky really fast. Actually has a unique element that neither SpaceChem or Perfect Paths have, in that your modules can manipulate each other.

Woah where did you hear this?

I think you skipped the part in bold in that reply...

"As far as I know, as for my tastes, these are the games coming in September:

Gravity Du....
Hopi...
Astr....

The rest of the games releasing in 2015, for my tastes of course:

Super Me....."

Not sure it's accurate

Only recent mentions of SMB Forever are that it's back in development now that Edmund released Fingered
http://www.pcgamer.com/super-meat-boy-forever-is-back-in-development/

I highly doubt it's releasing this month

Super Meat Boy Forever is coming this year, I am hearing november but who knows

I cant have just a folder with one app inside, instead I will have them out on the homescreen...

May I have one?

Yeah it happens to me too with that game xD

Just 100% Lara Croft GO, amazing and totally well worth experience all around!

I'm very much looking forward to any expansion they'll do to this or other "GO" branded games. A Deus Ex GO is high on my wish list now after Hitman and Lara. Maybe even a Final Fantasy GO? (that'll be $20 for mystery reasons)

Haven't really kept up with recent iOS releases outside the really big ones. Woah Galactic Keep finally came out huh? Need to check that out (seems like a game you do not want to play while having a fever-delirious-cold going on like I do atm).

This year has been insane. Every week, at least one good release. Keeping up with the quality releases can be pretty tough

If anyone else wants a promo code for the Sequence let me know. More_Badass was nice enough to PM me one but I can grab the Android version with some credit if there's another GAFer who wants it on iOS.

If I don't see a post or a PM by tomorrow morning...well, then it's mine, all mine. LOL.

Prediction: We'll see a Thief, Deus Ex and possibly Just Cause Go titles. Maybe CoD, too? But yeah, they're basically the only IPs Squeenix have.

I'd love, love, a Thief and Deus Ex GO. They lend themselves so well to the formula. Different tools (blackjack, arrow types, different augmentations, silenced pistol), the emphasis on exploration and stealth, etc.

But I can't see a Just Cause, Kane & Lynch, or Sleeping Dogs GO working

Wow. Thanks, man! Very excited.

Unrelated, my goal this month is to beat TWEWY before iOS9 probably breaks it.

Anyone still have a promo code for The Sequence they can send me? Spacechem is one of my favorite games of all time and would love to play anything that's even remotely similar and as good as it.
