I think that's a fake (at least it says so in the comment) and that's 9Gag after all ;).

Thanks I didn't know what 9Gag was... and what a relief as well... charging 10 bucks for a poke-ball is abusive. Was worried for a second that f2p was about to get a lot worse.

You know, Spider 2 was too little too late. I loved the original, but even I got bored with the sequel before making it far into the house. In my memory it plays the same as the first, though of course in reality presumably they added a lot (a bigger house? Some puzzle pieces that don't even start until how far are you into the house...?). Discussion for the game lasted less than a week because something new and different had already come to take its place. I'm not surprised at all. The App Store is an embarrassment of riches if you can find them (and we tend to highlight them here), and competition in the space is crazy. A sequel probably wasn't the best choice.

Also the studio is way too creative to be making sequels anyway. I'll be really disappointed if next we see Walking Mars 2: Walk Harder. Come on, they wanted out of the AAA sequel rat race and then spend years making a sequel.

I really loved the first Lifeline. If you like these types of games, I don't think you can go wrong. The second one seems good too from what I've played so far.

Also if you haven't already, check out the sorcery series.

I really enjoyed it a lot, you really get sucked into this and first thing in the morning I checked was how this guy is doing :D Too many other games at the moment on my table though to get lifeline 2.

Lately I tried seashine, great ftue (emerging from bubble, music, illumination around you, all feels so good) but gets stale quick, I just wanna chill in that game and enjoy the atmosphere but you gotta survive on catching little fishes (?) and so it' gets pretty hectic.

I also made a jap. apple id the other day and tried games from there, they have fun stuff really, I just checked top downloads and got a game where I am the producer of a girl band! It's part music game (like ddr, ff theather rhythm etc.) and part builder I think (the girls have their own house and you put furniture there and stuff). Also has a dress up game part (you can buy them outfits), plus on top of that it seems like you can focus on what girl will like you the most or so in regards of what you buy them (like doa xtreme beach volleyball), not sure about that though. I just wish I could understand whats goin on, the music is great if you are into bands like girls generation etc. :D

I can't say I disagree, on the contrary...it's my feeling for many 'still great' games.
But I'm really sad to see 'punished' a great dev anyway...they deserve much more success (sure, it took them too long to publish...6 years are AGES in the Appstore and they probably lost momentum).

Generally it's a good problem to have when monthly (or even weekly) we have several great games to choose from (just 2 years ago there were 1-2 every month at best)....but this means that many will be neglected nonetheless if they don't really stand out (and as you say, it's more difficult for sequels, unless they have a huge installed base).

Still it hurts...I hope they will recover and the fact that many people didn't get the game on day one (so they can have a longer tail) was just due because they were busy with something else at that moment (myself included, last months were pretty incredible gaming wise).

There is a zen mode coming in future updates that will let you explore the gorgeous and intriguing submarine world at your will, without worrying about catching fishes.

No clue about that new Simogo game too!!!!

To be honest, if anyone else made the same game description in the Appstore I would have classified it as trash...but...it's Simogo...hmmmm.

EDIT: Judging from the video looks like a blend between tetris and threes.

Have to head to work, but played the first few levels and it's fun and unique. Kind of a puzzle micro machines navigating tower defense like circuits with portals and other things to throw you off course in the attempt to find the exit.

Only possible concern is length. There's only 36 levels. However, I can see the levels getting trickier and maybe longer as you play so I'll stay hopeful that it isn't too short.

It's really sad to see this happening to such a creative team. F2P is taking over the app store sadly and it's punishing companies who spend years working on a quality game asking for a reasonable price. I hate the direction that mobile gaming is going. With so many F2P games, there are a lot of people out there who consider 4.99 too much for a mobile game. It's just really unfortunate and I think there's room for both types of games but it seems companies are starting to realize how risky it is to try and put out a full price game and hope to profit off of it

Which is why successes like The Room, Prune, and Monument Valley are so nice to see

But to be fair, as another poster said, you need to strike when the iron is hot. Tiger Style was the darling of IOS gaming, with Spider and Waking Mars. Waiting three years between Waking Mars and Shrouded Moon only hurt them, with no other games in between. Spider was a revelation when it released. Nowadays there are many more, and I'd say more effective, mobile games that embrace touchscreen controls and have interesting stories. Spider 2 didn't have the advantage that Spider 1 had. Mobile gaming has evolved since then

I completely agree with everything you said. Between the competition and likeness of the game to the first one...they would've been better off just having DLC to the first one instead of creating a completely new game. I'm sure it killed them waiting so long to release it.

The big Triblaster update is out. Great Tempest like game if you never picked it up.

I have noticed over the past few weeks that fewer and fewer games are launching on Android (at least not the same week).

It seemed to be getting better as far as parity with iOS. Now, it seems like it completely tanked.

Really annoying to me because, while I prefer my Mini 2, I sometimes like to split things out with my phone and Shield Tablet because of storage, etc.

I also have some Google Play credit I'd like to use.

Oh well, just means more things have to wait.

Also, Lifeline 2 just released. Doesn't seem to be connected to the original though, sadly.

Seems much more fleshed out though

Found even an alpha old video on AppSpy that better show the mechanics.

Actually the core mechanic is that you move the tiles with your finger to have the main character reach the ending point.
A bit like Lara Croft GO but it's in 'realtime'...you have to move within a certain timeframe or something bad can happen, like the giant snake (WTF?).
I see in the trailer guards patrolling and various different tiles too.

Hype rising.

It's a strange psychological behaviour. I would bet that most hardcore F2P gamers that are in the same demographic as the ones premium apps are targeted towards would spend more money in their F2P games than the upfront cost of those premium apps.

Some parts of the non-success of premium I believe is tied to the fact you cannot demo (outside of F2P + Premium unlock games which technically are "demos").

There used to be a lot more "lite" versions of games, but that kind of went the way of the dinosaur and it's rare to see one today.

I actually would prefer premium unlocks. But I know Mario from PikPok has said they don't have a very good conversion rate. I still think it would generate more sales than straight premium.

F2P in general has just changed the mindset of casual gamers who now expect games to be free. It's just sad.
 
Is land sliders Freemium or is it fair with its IAP? Game looks interesting.

^^^ I too have never played the bridge construction games but this one looks like wacky fun.
 
I wonder if we're getting Prison Architect on iPad around October 6th. That's the release date (well, out-of-Early-Access date) for the game on Steam. Devs had said they hoped to release the mobile version in October too, so I hope so
