I went to the Apple store in University Village near the University of Washington yesterday evening, and one of the employees there said they still had plenty in stock even though there was a huge line that morning. The store was packed with easily over 100 people, too. Lots of people getting new iPhones.
 
Just got the wife a 4S. Had to wait in line outside the store behind a few people (nothing too long, really), but they had them in stock and everything. She's really loving things so far, since she upgraded from a 3G.
 
I want to get a black bumper for my phone but is it true they scratch the shit out of the metal sides of the phone?

And are they a firm fit? Or does it slide off easily?
 
Wow.. Fido's network in Vancouver is not bad at all. I'm getting 3mb/second.

Mine's in a case but I think I'd feel some sort of heat. I notice nothing. Yeah I'd talk to Apple about it.

I really want to go all nude, but I've since decided against it. The phone is just too damn slippery without a bumper or case, and I've had one close call already. As sexy as she is naked, I'm going to pick up a case of some sort for the inevitable 3-5 foot drop to concrete.

Thinking about that iSkin claro someone linked to.

Also, what is all the hype with Siri? Have people never seen speech recognition and this level of "AI" before? What am I missing?

I'm guessing its because of the integration into iOS5.

My 4 got really hot the first while when I upgraded to ios5 and usin a lot of 3G data. It stopped after That first day. Figured it was some initial iCloud stuff.

This is what I was afraid of.

Looks like I'm ordering the bumper now.

Directly from Apple or any cheaper alternatives out there that are just as good or better?
 
Anyone looking for a case but something that doesn't hide it, I still highly recommend the Incase Snap Clear.

The bumper has some issues though. It gets looser over time, and obstructs the headphone jack and dock port for a lot of things.

Ugh. Don't know what to do. I like the Incase and was just looking at it on the apple store website. Reviews seem to say this case is good for anything BUT dropping the phone. Not too big a deal since I've never dropped my phone ever but another thing is I can't stand branding on any case. It looks so tacky. I know people say it isn't noticeable but it is to me. (OCD)

Check out the clear "case mate" case they have at the Rogers wireless store (you are Canadian right?). I don't know the exact model name. I'm really happy with it. It's got a bit of invisible moulded branding that basically covers up the FCC crap on the back. It doesn't bother me. It's nearly unnoticeable.

Otherwise it's clear. Rubber on the edges. Clear plastic on the back. A good lip around the front. Comes with screen protector.
 
I love the 1080p video but I do wish there was a way to select a resolution to record at.

Also, my key sounds and system sounds disappear every so often. :/
 
Just defected from Android to the iOS camp <3 The 4S is a amazing phone O.o It renders OpenGL very well :-o some of the games blow my mind!
 
I tried out the message dictation for the first time. "Lemme smang it girl" became "Punishment girl." Guess it depends who's doing the smanging.

That's crazy talk. The screen on my white 4S looks just as great as it does on my friend's black 4.

There's also a shortcut where you can enter an assigned number for each contact and talk to them live!

I was able to sell my iPhone 4 16GB locked for $380

So that would be $850 (iPhone 4S 32GB unlocked) - $380 = total cost of $470. Not horrible. My next phone (iPhone 5) I will be able to buy on contract so I'll just sell my iPhone 4S for a bit more than my iPhone 4 as it's unlocked and make a bit of profit.

I had that case and its left my iPhone 4 which marks running front to back on the metal bands. Also, dust, sand, and crap gets in the sides.
 
Not strictly 4S related, but is there a way to get the official Twitter app to do push notifications?

I thought I had it turned on, but Twitter.app is only updating when I open it. It never updates in the background. Is that not possible?

Yeah I think I'll head down to the mall Monday (when my phone arrives. FUPS!) and see these cases in person. It's really hit or miss buying online without being able to try them out on the phone.

I'll check out the Rogers store and other carrier stores too.

It's not free, but unless you literally do not have the money, the $2 or $3 for Instacast is totally worth it. I'd pay $20.

My old phone was pretty terrible so this seems better. It seems to go much quicker than iPad though (only Apple product I'd used before this)

I think we should dedicate a thread to Siri and its moments of awe. Tell it "I love you" and see the many responses you will get. It's entertaining.
