On one hand I'm super happy that the 4S is similar enough to my 4 that I won't end up getting jealous and inevitably invest in an early upgrade. On the other hand... Siri is fuckin' MAGIC. I would just want to show that shit off to everybody I know. Enjoy it fellas.

I also wonder if those iPhone 4 stats don't take into account iOS5 and iCloud. It's not like they'd change the official iPhone 4 stats to take into consideration new OSs, but in the case of iPhone 4S, iOS5 comes pre-installed, so it would have to consider it.FantasticMrFoxdie said:

I found that I made it about 8 hours of near constant use of 3G, games, music, etc. (it's the day after launch... I'm using it aaaaaalll day). And that's with everything turned on: bluetooth, iCloud, push notifications for everything, wifi sync, etc. The screen was pretty much lit up that entire time, keep in mind!
I think a more realistic use of the phone, and it would be pushed over a day's worth of battery.

I've devised a new game: iPhone 4S roulette.
When you show off the text reading and replying capability of the 4S to people, use a blind text you haven't previewed in notifications. I stumbled upon this by chance, after my phone beautifully articulated a sexual act to my parents.
Replying in front of them is optional but recommended.
I mostly love how the British siri voice made the reading sound reluctant and grudgingly loyal. Like your butler best friend that loves you but just had to clean up the paintball war you had in the east wing of your mansion while you're busy applying a skull and crossbones decal to the bonnet of your 4th Ferrari.

Honestly, screen size is the only thing holding me back right now. It is just too damn small. Is it useable, sure, but extra size during web browsing (maybe even higher resolution too) would just make things all that more user friendly and easy on the eyes.

I'm assuming that Apple chose the screen size they did based on hand size, and they're not going to budge from it unless everyone demands a change. I think most people really don't give a shit, so it's going to be this size for a long while.

Screen size is the only thing that has remained constant on iPhone since it launched - everything else has changed except that. I don't expect them to increase it anytime soon.

Realistically speaking, form factor size doesn't have to change much to accomodate a bigger screen. Guarantee you a change in form factor to a more organic form will have more impact on ergonomics than increasing screen size to 4". One of the reasons why the 3GS is a lot more comfortable to hold than the 4.
I doubt anyone would not be able to use the iPhone were the screen size increased to 4" or even 4.2". Just seems like an excuse to justify the paltry current 3.5" screen.
I think it's highly likely the iPhone 5 will have a bigger screen. I'd imagine some of the reasons they didn't go bigger with the 4 were more to do with cost, battery drain, production etc than actual form factor.

Based on how I've used my 4S in the past 2 days (ie, "what's fastest"), Siri has revolutionized computer interfaces, no doubt. It's not like this tech is brand new... but no one else built it into the heart of the OS until now. Now I finally see the seeds of a future where we really do talk to our computers like in Star Trek. It has just begun.
When messages come in, they play the notification sound as usual and Siri is not automatic (as it should be). You have to opt in to Siri with a button press. Ask her to read it: "Read". After that, no more button pushes, it's all conversation. "Reply", "Edit" etc.KennyLinder said:

Admittedly though I haven't ever used one of those larger-screen phones so I can't really do a fair comparison between them (and everyone has different sized hands anyway). I have never found the screen size on the iPhone to be lacking though.
I know. Have a iPod Touch 1G and when I read NeoGAF (secondapps works brilliantly) the text is too small in landscape so I have to zoom in. With the retina display it's possible to read it without zooming in in portrait. Text is insanely sharp.Karud said:
Just want to chime in real quick, but the 4s is the first iPhone to outrender and load webpages faster than my Droid X and Motorola Xoom. The ipad 2 with the ios5 update too, outclasses the web browsing performance in my android devices. Really glad to see apple make real strides in an area their products usually lagged behind the competition in. Only the gs2 can compete in this area at this point!

Quick question for anyone who has gotten the 4S in Japan on AU, or maybe just in general:
I setup my existing mail address and can receive mail just fine, but it won't notify me of the mails unless I click on mail and then it dings. I've set it to push and fetch and my settings indicate it should be notifying me of mails...but it's not. Which is a bit annoying since I just have to constantly check to see if I have anything new.
Other than that, it's great. Spent a good hour playing around with Siri today.
