dude it's not a Super Nintendo
People carried Super Nintendo's around in their pocket and touched with their greasy fingers 24/7? ;)

FINE! I take that as a no. Haha. White iPhone 4S bought.

My wife is upgrade-eligible yet I am not even though she got her iPhone 4 later than I did. :\ Also, didn't AT&T say on Tuesday that they'd have a special "Upgrader" app available that day for the iPhone where you could order the new phone from the old? THEY LIED.

I'm gonna order the black 32GB, wife is getting the white 32GB. I knew I picked the right woman to marry when she asked me why people were complaining about the 4S 'not being the iPhone 5.'

At first AT&T text said I was eligible fo early iPhone upgrade.
Now the text says I'd have to pay the extra $250.

What gives?

Apple pulled the app; it was available for an hour or so iirc

You need to get on the phone and get up in someone's ass.

Yeah, agreed.

I actually just found out that I had an overdue bill (Oops! First time ever! Auto-Pay on that bitch now) and that it was going to prevent my upgrade from happening tonight. I set it up to pay, but realized it wasn't going to register until sometime tomorrow...I wasn't going to risk it!

Called them up and asked if they could push the transaction through today, and thankfully they did.

Rechecked my upgrade eligibility and I'm good to go.

Got my alarm set for 2:15AM so I've got time to shower and get ready to refresh the shit out of some websites tomorrow for my 4S. 64GB White will be mine!

Does anybody know what time on Friday Sprint will start taking preorders for the 4S? Should I call to preorder or preorder online? I'm on the $30 SERO plan so I want to go the fastest route possible since I know I'm gonna have to upgrade.

Anybody know Verizon's pre-order plans? I signed up to get emails but I'm wondering if there's better info floating around. It'd be nice to just deal with this when I wake up in the morning rather than have to deal with some 3:00AM crap, but I'm gonna do what I've gotta do.

When I called Verizon two days ago there was a message about them doing preorders on their site but that was it. You can currently sign up for iPhone preoder updates on their site. I am assuming they will email people when they announce when it will happen.

So I'm wondering...

It's going to be available in Canada on the 14th.

I'm with Fido. My contract expires in 2013 (I made changes to it in 2010, but got my 3GS in 2009).

Now I don't know if Fido will let me upgrade to the 4GS for a normal fee (like 200 or something) - I gotta call, but I have a feeling they'll tell me to fuck off.

So should I just buy an unlocked one from Apple at 650? It's a TON of money but at this point my 3GS is slowing down to a fucking crawl after a day and the battery's gotten shitty. I'm scared of what iOS5 is going to do to it...

Out of curiosity, what do all you US Americans do with phones that are locked to a carrier when you upgrade or switch carriers?

I plan on jailbreaking and unlocking my 3GS to take with me when traveling overseas, since it uses a regular SIM.

In for 2 tomorrow confirmed! Also, I was looking at my unlimited data plan and going through the motions to order the phones tomorrow when I came across this:

Oh, and the phone isn't the subsidized price because they're doing the early upgrade after I took that screen cap.

Just making sure, but you know that those are for iPhone 4 and not iPhone 4S, right? I only mention it because this is the iPhone 4S thread and without you specifying, I just wanted to make sure in case you've made a mistake or something.

Otherwise ignore me :P

... really? REALLY? -_-

The point is to show that it seems you're having to get another data plan (Premium in this case) on top of your Unlimited Plan.

Alright need some advice here. I am an Android user. I have had the Evo OG since it's release date back in 2010. The phone is amazing. Huge screen, great camera, 4G speed. I'm on Sprint of course and their Unlimited Plan truly is a beast, and I take advantage of it quite often.

That said...I've had the phone for a year and a half. I can pre-order the 4s tomorrow. I have never used an iphone...ever. Androided up since birth. Apart of me feels like it'd be a downgrade in some ways. Smaller screen, no 4g speeds...I'm conflicted here.

So...should I make the jump?

Hmm. I called Sprint earlier in the week to get my upgrade eligibility reset (returned a Photon because I didn't like it) but it's not showing on on the website despite them telling me they reset it.

I hope they can go back and give me my discount even if I have to order the phone at full price...

I still have one more "new every 2" credit, henceforth referred to as NE2. My contract is up in January. I am eligible for upgrade pricing now but have to wait until then for NE2. Any way Verizon will give me the credit early?

I'm coming off an OG Droid, but I cannot wait to get rid of this thing. I have an iPad and an older iPod touch and I have realized that I want a phone with the Apple App Store on it. People can say what they want, but the apps on the Google Marketplace are just inferior when it comes to Apple's offerings. Yes, I'm not getting the huge screen like I wanted, and I did want a little faster data speeds, but when it comes down to it, there will be more things I can do with an iPhone than the fanciest Android phone out there because of the software I can acquire for it.

You don't say why the other part of you thinks it's not a downgrade... But yes, you clearly have too much money and need to spend it. /PC thread.

What's your question TommyT? all Sprint smartphones face that $10 surcharge. That's why their unlimited data press release quotes the iPhone price at $79.99/mo even though their commercials say it's 69.99/mo

Chances are you're already eligible. I have been eligible since April for a NE2, and my contract isn't up until around March. Just go to Apples website. There should be an option to check your upgrade status on the iPhone 4S buy page. It will tell you how much the phone will cost.

Unlike everyone else (it seems) I kind of like the 4S and I would easily upgrade from my 3GS.
However I really suck at typing on the 3GS and I can only assume I will have the same problems with the 4S since the screen is the same size?

How do you people manage not hitting the adjacent letter when composing texts?
Even with 2 years of practice I still suck at it.

That's what I'm least looking forward to. I'm upgrading from a RAZR and I'm used to tactile buttons and can't type for shit on my girlfriend's iPhone 4.

Really? That's worse than my AT&T bill, discounted at $76. :/

I wonder what I could get it down to with a Sprint Uni of Iowa employee discount?

Sorry sorry. Just wanted to make sure you weren't trying to put in a pre-order for the 4S!

Carry on :P

The back of the phone is glass. Get the white one so when people see you talking on it it's like a gleaming beacon of glory in their face.

edit: just noticed your avatar, Rubx. Nice work.

So, as a Verizon customer who has an upgrade, do I pre-order from the apple site or the Verizon site? I was told that I should do it from Apple and they would give me a number to call to activate my phone when I got it in the mail...?

I don't have a question. I'm just letting people know that just because you get the Unlimited plan isn't the end-all-be-all as there is that extra charge which is included in the press release and not to be worried when this appears.

Now in my case, I have Blackberry which is considered a 'smart' phone and am still only paying the $69.99/mo rate. However, this seems to be because it's a(n older) Blackberry specific plan.

My iPhone 4 fell out of my pocket and the front screen shattered last night when I got out of my car to pump gas.

I'm not eligible for an upgrade until 2/2012.

Do it through Apple. Verizon's site is absolute shit and it's basically the same thing. Either way you will call a number to activate. It's super easy on any phone.

If I'm typing fast, I'll screw-up while typing, but it's to the point where I can type without even looking at the keyboard. I'd say that since having my Otterbox, I tend to mess up at times - due to the restrictive nature of the case itself, but when I went caseless or used a different case I had no problems at all typing.

Low blow! I'm just asking a question :(

Never used a Iphone and very limited experience with Ipod. I've had my EVO and used a Zune for my mp3 needs. So if I make this jump I'm diving into the "Apple ecosystem". Is this a case of "I don't know what I'm missing" since I've never used an Apple "I" anything? Everything would be completely foreign to me...a little intimidating.

Do I switch out the SIM card on my own then?

I've heard of people getting their phones fixed/replaced at least once if that happens. You should call or visit your nearest Apple store to see if they can do anything for you.

I had a bad power cube for my 3Gs, and i finally called Apple after the warranty expired and they replaced it no questions asked. They even covered the OVERNIGHT shipping both ways! They shipped me a new cube with return shipping tag. Awesome.

:lol you still haven't said why you're wanting to upgrade. Just because you think you're missing out?

In all honesty though, if your phone does what you need want to it do, then why would you get a new phone? That said, you can always sell it and, assuming you can upgrade, make money if you don't like it. Or just return it and go back.

I'm somewhat intimated as well, but I've waited for Sprint to get it and I've used my girlfriends iPhone 4 as well as using my own Touch 4G. My current Blackberry does what I need it to do, but I feel that I'd enjoy and be able to do more with the 4S which is why I'm upgrading on my terms. This is of course opposed to jumping ship from Sprint and going through all that breaking-contract mess to just have the iPhone.

It starts at 12:01am Pacific time, so if you're on the east coast then 3:01am is right.

That should be it. Just swap the SIM and you're good to go. No in-store BS.

Reckon the 4S will sell a huge amount like iPhone 4 numbers or be mediocre, predictions?

I say sell about the same since it's now on Sprint, otherwise I say less because it's the same phone in terms of looks.

Wanting to upgrade because it's an Iphone and I can't escape it? Apps this apps that blah blah blah. Well now it's on my carrier and can be used with the Unlimited Sprint plan. I'm intrigued.

We'll see. If the Iphone had 4G I think I'd jump in a heartbeat, but it doesn't so that's what is holding me back from going in full steam. Just wondering if everything else it does is so OMG awesome and worth it.
