LyleLanley said:Yeah, because what would stop someone from buying a sprint/verizon 4S and then just putting an ATT sim card in there?

this will be quite the upgrade for me.

That's the BS part.. you are getting a couple hundred dollars subsidized on your phone for the promise of paying them likely over $2,000 in service fees... why should they then lock the phone to a carrier?
No one knows what they'll do after two years.Cloudy said:Even an international-only unlock? I have heard of Sprint doing this for Blackberry users
Vgamer said:Wow that is going to be pretty big for ATT if they can get Apple to change it to 4g on their versions of the 4s. I can picture the ATT iPhone 4s TV ads zooming into the 4g on the screen showing that its the only carrier with 4g speeds for the iPhone 4s.
dammit telus. oh well ha.giga said:Hasn't been updated for Sprint yet, but here is the official document on carrier unlocking: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937

Damn it, I want to pay an unsubsidized price for my phone and I'll even stay on their damn contract if they want me to so long as I can get it unlocked.
narcosis219 said:Don't you guys have third parties in the states that do an unlocking service? It's like $1-$30 up here in Canada.

If it can even work 99% as well that is a game changer.

I don't think so.
That's what it said in my order confirmation email from Apple, but clicking on the link gives you a 404 error. I'm not sure that is true anymore with AC+.

Also there is a $18 upgrade fee?

Or you can just call. I did that took about 5 min and he changed my shipping to next bussiness day to make sure the change wont affect my 14th shipping arrival date.KHarvey16 said:Anyone who ordered from Apple and would like their phone shipped to another address, the order status page allows you to modify the shipping destination(assuming it's still in "processing") to one other than your billing address. Always the chance the change will be ignored but figured I would give it a shot.
cjelly said:Just checked some of the UK networks pricing and the tariffs and phone costs get worse every year.
I think I paid about £140 for a 4 on launch day on a £40 a month tariff. 4S is £190 on a £40 tariff which is worse in every way than mine.
A real shame there is only the 8GB 4 left.
SRidge52 said:I thought I read a few pages back in this topic that somebody already had their phone shipped.... Is that actually true and has anyone else had theirs shipped?
Thank you SO MUCH. Makes it hard for me to place an order for the 4S.
That's strange. I ordered off of the Sprint website and I got the option for AppleCare+Gary Whitta said:Got my order confirmation email! New hotness in one week!
I didn't see the AppleCare+ option when I ordered on the Apple site, I wonder if they'd let me add if I go into an Apple store with the phone right after I get it.
Eh, I've always been hardcore in favour of 64GB+ storage, but I didn't even bother this time. iCloud and iTunes Match seems like a good solution...Xamdou said:Still no: 4G, flash support, sd card support for added memory storage, larger screen, slimmer design.

As an O2 customer, pretty sure I'm switching to Three next year and just getting the 5 (or whatever) off them. O2's prices are terrible.Chinner said:o2 tariff is up, i think:

Just be aware that you can't add a message pack besides unlimited of you cancel. If you only text iOS people then stick it to AT&T!Xamdou said:Awesome! Time to cancel my $5 texting service from at&t

As somebody who is going to have to wait two weeks after launch to upgrade, is there a good chance that I'll be able to get a phone, or should I anticipate a long wait before inventory is replenished if it does sell out?
When previous iPhones (or any apple devices for that matter) came out, were there any inordinate wait times that might happen again during this cycle?
I hate to sound desperate. It's just that I have to struggle with my 3GS to keep it running (a lot of twisting and squeezing to make the internal connections pick up, a lot of resetting, a lot of randomly not responding to my touch), and I'm just trying to get an idea for how long I'm going to be stuck with the thing.
