that was incredibly painless. what a great system. so much better than having to wait in line early in the morning or call up a sales rep every couple days to check stock.

When I got up this morning the system wasn't in place yet, so I bought one straight from Apple. They didn't want to give me a discount anyway (I called yesterday) so fuck them. I'd rather have an unlocked phone anyway - much higher leverage with them that way (you're much more likely to dump their asses!)
 
Anyone else with the grandfathered Verizon unlimited data plan know what it shows up as on your bill? I'm pretty sure I'll still have it, but I don't see "Unlimited Data" in the plan features list of my order confirmation.

Put in my order for a 4S. Moving away from Android... this will be my first iPhone. Kind of excited as I've always seen myself as an "Android guy".

But will it actually work properly or fail miserably like so many other iPhone apps (Google maps I'm looking at you and your annoying figure of eight requests every few minutes along with spinning me in circles half the time!).
 
So i lost my iPhone 4 last week. I instead went on and purchased a 3GS to replace it till the 4. if I preordered the 4S i would not be eligible for the full upgrade price till well over may 2013. that meant i would miss the 5 and I want that!
 
I sure hope these are still available late next week on Verizon. It appears I'll be able to get an early upgrade starting tomorrow with Verizon, but I won't quite have the disposable income to buy two 32GBs until next Friday.

I'm very excited to finally get the hell away from Android and join the iPhone camp.

I just preordered a black 32gb iPhone 4S, my first iPhone. I've been waiting years for this day under Sprint.

I won't believe it until it's actually in my hands.

You'd rather have a 4S than a 4, right?
 
Pre-order went through for AT&T last night. Picked up two 32 GB ones for me and the wife. Also got the grandfathered unlimited plan.
 
Just called AT&T about an early upgrade (by three months) and they said they can't do anything if it's not in their system. Guess I'll just have to wait until January. :/

yeah, I wasn't eligible for an upgrade last year so ordering from apple was an easy choice. pay more upfront but resale is very good.

but since I can get an iphone for cheap this year, i figure i can take advantage. i have a good deal with fido so I'm not looking to dump them anytime soon.

perhaps if I want to jump on some LTE plan in the future, i'll need to reconsider and move to another provider.

Wouldn't "EMAIL & WEB UNLIMITED" seem more likely?
 
for all you new iphone users, don't forget to add a $100 itunes card to the cart. you're gonna need it.

Heh, I only end up buying a itunes card when making bigger purchases like $5.99 apps or of the like. Most of the time - I just use paypal.

i used to do the same until my bank statement was filled with itunes transactions. now i buy a gift card every time i'm at the grocery store or target. :P

So far the answer seems to be yes. No one has actually had hands on with one as far as I know... but everything looks to be in the same place..

No. The silent ringer has a different placement, same as the CDMA iPhone 4.

So basically, all CDMA iPhone 4 accessories will fit the iPhone 4S, stuff from the GSM iPhone 4 in a lot of cases won't.
 
What's the general consensus on the best cases and protective screens? And in terms of cases, ones that almost appear as if they are not there.

Gotcha. I usually think about what apps I'm going to get before I take the plunge.

Most of the time though, the apps I'm considering tend to go on sale so I grab 'em then. Latest one was for Snapseed - got when they had it free, now it's back up to $4.99.

Thanks for letting me know :P I was going to pick up a case today. I don't think the CDMA phone has even come to Canada.. so none of the cases up here would be fore that version...

Yeah, although I think Apple created an universal bumper that fits both (which they may have shipped everywhere, idk), and some cases may not be intrusive in that regard, for example if they are open on the side or simply have a big hole there for all buttons, instead of individual holes for volume and ringer :)

i bought my case off of amazon.ca and the description says it fits both verizon and at&t versions of the iphone 4, so look at the descriptions and see what they fit for.

I guess if the opening for the mute switch is big enough, it would work for both.

so the CDMA does not have antenna issues?
 
Also, I'm a bit concerned about AT&T fucking with my grandfathered unlimited data. Because of the business account, my line could only be upgraded over the phone in order to have it shipped to my actual address rather than the billing address (only about 1000 or so miles apart from one another). Even though online I had the option of selecting the unlimited data plan, over the phone they said they couldn't do that at the time of ordering but that I could call them when I receive the phone and have to activate it and have them change it back.

I am...skeptical...

I also didn't want to hang out in front of that god forsaken place on Ste-Catherine's next Friday. I walked by yesterday and all the crazed hipsters were giving me the creeps, with leaving flowers, holding candlelight vigils, etc. I mean I respect Jobs and stuff, but seriously.

In any case, yeah, it's freaking expensive (650 for a 16gb!) but I figure it's worth every single penny since I'll be able to sell it for a ton of cash. A factory unlocked phone is ALWAYS worth more :) My only concern is I'll have to go bug Fido for a micro-sim card (I have a 3GS, so I have a standard sim card...) and hopefully they won't charge me out the ass for one.
 
Reserved a white 64GB. I probably should have gone with the 32GB seeing as the mid-range will probably be the most popular, but whatever. Profit is profit.

Why wouldn't you? I buy itunes/PSN/WiiPoints/3DSPoints cards because I don't want to use my credit card. I even go through paypal when purchasing from itunes when I don't buy a card.

It's not taxed - since it's a gift card, it's tied to your specific account so no one can take it, and can only be used once redeemed.

I wouldn't be able to tell you, but indeed it sports the same antenna configuration as the new 4S, which is supposed not to have antenna issues.

I guess they redesigned it by then with that in mind.

it's a lot easier for me to manage my spending this way too.
 
iGAF, help me out please. I'm on T-mobile and even though my contract is up 11/2 I'm pretty sick of my horrible horrible phone; I'm on a family plan with my fiance and she just wants the 8gb 4 (I want the 16gb 4s). We both want to keep our numbers, and we're not sure who we're going to go with yet (waiting to hear from people we know on other carriers here).

So - can someone pre-order if they're on a different carrier? Can they keep their number?
