After going through four different cases - the Switch Easy Vulcan and NUDE, a CaseMate Gelli and a Griffin Reveal - I'm happy to report that I've finally found the perfect case, the Elago Breathe S4. It has a nice, slightly-rubberized feel that doesn't slide on surfaces, a raised 1mm edge to protect the glass in case it get's placed face-down, the perforated back looks like steel mesh, and a minimal profile. It's beautiful. It's honestly the best case I've ever used (Droid or otherwise).

Be careful with this case. I had it on my iPhone 4 for about 3 months, and while it looked good, when I finally took it off I saw it scratched the metal band horribly! Plus it made the back of the phone spotty from the dirt that got in between the holes and grinded between the case and the glass. The spots were permanent btw.

Be warned.

That's horrible. Same thing happened with my SwitchEasy Nude for the 3GS. So much for buying a case to maintain resale value...

4-5 hours of use only on a 4S, same as my wife with her 4. Really fucking annoying. This is with mostly everything off (notifications, bluetooth, location services etc).

I don't know what to do.

What kind of use?

I get around 6-7 hours of usage on my 4.

If it seems really bad, back up, take it to Apple Store, exchange.

If you want something like that, then get the Speck Candyshell. One piece construction with s soft rubber lining that won't scratch, hard plastic shell to take a beating. It also has your usual refinements of port holes, volume buttons, power button, and a raised face to protect the screen.

Oh, great color selection too. And don't be fooled by the photos, the added bulk is minimal.

I just realised there's no clock or some kind of timer displayed when you listen to music through the music app. How come? How do I know where to rewind to or fast forward to, when I can't see for how long a track has been playing?

Can I delete individual photos in the Photo Stream? Having everything in there without being able to delete it really annoys me. I know that it's related to iCloud by now at least, so I could just turn it off, I guess. But still, uploading everything to the Cloud without giving the user the choice seems to be a relly big oversight.

Actually, I don't understand that iCloud stuff anyway. I don't even know how I access it.

Proud new owner of a white 4s here. Let me tell ya sales people aT best buy and Verizon push the screen covers hard. Lady at Verizon said I needed one and I politely said no thanks Ive had an iPad since march and it doesn't have a scratch on it. She then says well, dont let any women with earrings use your phone. I just stood there and gave her a really!? Look. Oh yea before all that she point at the phone and says its glass like im some sort of moron. I think IT nerds need to wear a sin out that says I'm in IT please don't bullshit me.

Anyway I love this phone except I think I may have the battery problem. First day it was great I was using it to stream music to my AirTunes used the gps maps made a few calls and the battery was fine. Gave a full recharge when it was down to 20% cause we were going out for the night. Here's my "usage" since that time.

The problem is in that time I've gotten two texts and two emails and otherwise havnt used the phone as I've been asleep.

I know the battery should get better with more charges and all that.

Still love the phone, I would have never been able to post this from my old phone let alone take a screen shot upload it and then post that.

Edit: dropped 6% just making this post. :(

Well, I've seen worse man, to be honest! 13 hours of standby time, en still 50% juice left.

Try draining the phone until it shuts itself of, and then fully recharging it to 100%, until the plug icon is displayed in the battery icon. If that doesn't help, delete mail accounts on your phone and manually add them back in again. If that doesn't help completely reset it, meaning wipe it clean and then manually without restoring, put all of your stuff like Apps and music back on it again. Also many people are turning 'Location Services' off, until hopefully Apple comes with a fix.

I'm not sure if I understand the battery stats correctly. My iPhone 4 "Usage: 6 hours, 59 minutes" and "Standby: 1 day, 13 hours " with 9% left.

Does it means, that it have been on standby for 1 day and 13 hours since the last charge?

It means that the phone has been unplugged (from full) for 1 day 13 hours and during that time it's been "on/used" 6 hours 59 minutes.

My battery life seems quite good. Only thing I noticed is that it loses exactly 1% every hour while in sleep mode. Which isn't bad I assume.

Not bad when talking smartphones overall but when I had my iPhone 4 I could go through a night's sleep and lose 0-2% battery. Maybe their meters are more accurate now?

When plugging the iPhone to my computer, I get an error meassage in iTunes saying that my iPhone couldn't be connected due to the service "Apple Mobile Device" not being activated... But I can't start the service using the task manager either...

So, what's wrong? How to solve that problem? Anyone?

clearly the software is bugging out if usage time = standby time. I've had this happen before, and usually it can be solved by a reboot of the phone. There is likely an app that has crashed and failed to close in the background or something like that.

For whatever reason i feel like my power/stand by button does not feel snug. I tap the top right corner of the phone and can hear it rattle. Anyone else feel the same?

So I bought an iPhone 4S

it's white

and the camera is a big step up from the camera on my old phone
which had like, a hectopixel

actually the phone is a step up overall

I don't know if I have the battery problem yet, but thanks to this thread I know there might be a problem with the battery

I also get an iTunes error when the phone is not plugged into the computer, but that's nothing serious

My 4S has that rattle too (I always hear it when I place my phone down), but I think the consensus is it's actually the camera component making the rattle. Googling '4S Camera Rattle' will reveal quite a few similar posts with the same symptoms.

Those of you with an iPhone 4S, how big is the size for a photo an HD video? Is 16GB enough or would you recommend 32GB, now that it has 8-megapixel and 1080p?

I just a 4S and sometimes the vibrate motor on it just goes crazy loud, anyone else had or heard of a similar thing. The thing is a day old.

I might be the case its in (Speck Fitted) but I don't see how.

They are using a new vibration mechanism in the 4S vs. the 4 (at least compared to the AT&T version). I noticed it immediately. Much more powerful which is great because now I actually feel it in my pocket.

The nice thing is you now can make your own vibrate pattern.

Well, if I stick with Sprint, they're ready to give me a $150 discount on my next phone. All I need to to is sign a two-year contract with a monthly plan rate of $35 or higher, and I'm good to go.

If I can use the discount on a 64GB iPhone 4S and pay $250 out of pocket, I'm staying with Sprint and getting the 450 minute plan w/unlimited data for $80 a month. I don't need any more minutes, but after reading Wario64's tweets on how he had to download Infinity Blade II three times, I'm not risking a data cap surcharge.

I just got a black 4s 32gig on sprint yesterday and omg this phone is legit! Light years ahead of my htc hero. Even if we just compare making a phone call or texting. The camera is amazing and siri is pretty cool. Texting while driving is pretty doable with it.

Does anyone have an in car mount for this phone? I run autox and rallyx and I've seen in car video recorded from an iphone and it looked and sounded pretty good. If I can find a decent windshield suction cup mount for a good price I might get it so I can get my record my runs.

Like every case, I'll remove it every week to clean underneath. In the 2 weeks I've owned it, it's nowhere near as bad underneath as with the Switch Easy cases I used. Thanks for the heads up.

Huh... someone please pass that on to Wario, please.

It should be fairly apparent if that's the problem he's running into. The error message literally says something to the effect of "apps over 20MB must be downloaded over WiFi. Please connect to a WiFi network and try your download again".

Otherwise I'm not sure what the problem would be. I downloaded Infinity Blade II on my iPad 2, and it instantly downloaded to by mine and my wife's iPhone's automatically all without a hitch. Updated all clients as well without a problem.
