Yes:

At the bottom of the iPod touch page (http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/softwareupdate.html) they advertise "hey, didn't get 2.0? That's okay, here's 3.0 for $10" in a lot of words.

So, is the AT&T data plan actually unlimited or does it indeed have a 5GB soft cap?

Has anyone here gone over 5GB?

I've decided to do things like stream MSNBC video podcasts over 3G every day to watch the news at work because I fucking hate AT&T, but that's about 500MB per day.

Damn....got buried like 8 pages back already. Is anyone else encountering these issues? I want to know if it's just me or if it's the unfortunate downside to the new OS software:

Yes, I have seen them. What you want to do is wait for the final, do a full restore and then a sync and that should resolve some of the issues - though some nuances still remain.

It's unlimited. They might put a cap on there if tethering is enabled. That's the only time a cap is put on data plans at AT&T.

One of my iTunes downloads (movie) on my iPhone is stuck on processing and it won't go away, any ideas?

It's draining my battery life a mofo too.

I just came back from local best buy, preordered the 32gb version. However one thing, I did put down $50, and they gave me a $50 gift card but the way they explained it is the gift card is the money I put down for the phone. Meaning if I spent the $50 gift card, when I pick up the phone I need to pay the full $299.

I dunno. She told me I get the gift card and the money down counts too. I guess I'll find out on Friday.

Doesn't work, it just moves a little like I'm scrolling up and down.

Go into your itunes on the phone, resume the download, then swipe your finger left to right over the pause symbol. It changes it to a Delete key which you press.

That's the thing, it won't resume - it just sits on Processing litterly all day on any connection. The pause symbol won't come up.

Question

I need to be able to write notes etc on my laptop and then get them on to the iPhone.
how do I transfer notes from NOTEPAD on my computer to the iPhone?
If you haven't found a solution already, you can try an app called AirSharing (or the Pro version). It allows you to transfer a wide variety of file formats (txt, pdf, xls, doc, mov, mp3, wav etc) from your computer and view/watch/listen to them on your iPhone.

It is now midnight EST and no update, damn you Apple! *shakes fist in air*

There is an Amazon mobile app update with 3.0 fixes, what a tease.

probably because apple is located in cupertino, california.

Yeah I figured, I was hoping Apple would be nice and go by eastern time. I was reading on the Mac Rumors forum that the major updates usually come out around 10AM-12AM PST.

How about be nice and go by the actual date, Japan, Australia, New Zealand are already on the 17th and yet we have to wait for America. 3hours? Try a day then have a sook.

I realise this.

But if you're going to release something on the 17th, don't make 75% of the world wait till the 18th. Fuck your own time zone.

I'll worry about it when I don't live in the same time zone as Apple. :D

Well I would assume it is more of a support issue then anything else. They probably want there employees in the office with a major release like this.

It would be nice though if companies would start resolving a user's location/timezone by IP address and allow you to download if you have reached the release date.

Do you know for sure if they final will solve issues that were present in the gold master?

The anticipation is killing me. haven't been this excited for a product launch since the 360, I guess (though I wasn't overly hyped about that.)

Scheduled Delivery has reappeared on my UPS tracking number! Still scheduled for tomorrow, and it left Anchorage a few hours ago.

-crosses fingers
Dude hope you get it. Then you can do fucking tests for us :p

EDIT

OH SHIT!

I was right!

The ATT In-Store Preorder people! They shipped all of ours in bulk boxes to the US.. soon as they hit the US they broke the boxes down and now our tracking numbers work since they were prelabeled in China on each individual box. Mine was just scanned into UPS! Woot! Must be in Alaska with the others that just came in tonight.

unless Apple expects everyone who picks up a new iphone 3GS to undergo a software update the minute they bring the thing home, the GM build is the final build. it had to have been finalized and put onto the devices weeks ago.

Notes sync to Outlook on PC, Mail on Mac.

Just use Evernote or something similar.
Actually, Notes won't sync to Outlook. Says no apps available for me and everyone else I've read about.
Does it need to be the newest version of Outlook possibly?

I just don't understand/know why they aren't able to handle iPhones doing what so many of their other phones are doing already. What kind of morons run that place? If they wanted to save grace with their customers that have been paying out the ass for the last two years on these damn data plans, they'd stay up late and get whatever the problem is fixed so it'll work.

But they won't so here we'll sit, bent over.

The fact that the old iphones couldn't do it period no matter how you tinkered with it suggests that it did picture messaging different from how most phones do it. It was nothing to do with AT&T's network that prevented it, it was strictly a software issue that Apple themselves put in there so they would have something else to add as a feature on a future phone.

Actually the old iPhones can do with, a little jailbreaking, and yes there was a flag in AT&T's system that you had to get by, so I'd say it was both Apple and AT&T conspiring to keep the MMS using masses [sic] down. Heck, an official Apple partner in Scandinavia even made their own MMS app just so their customers could use it...
