So what are the ods of 3.0 apps being released simultaneasly with the 3.0 firmware release? I really want my beejive with push support.

They said via twitter that they've submitted it -- Apple hasn't approved yet. I imagine they're holding all the push apps until the firmware's out, which should be today. I'm really looking forward to Beejive with push. That's gonna rule.

Hmm that's what I thought. I've already been using 3.0 GM since last week, but the real cool stuff will come with the app updates. Can't wait :D

Anyone else who's on Twitter download the iPhone version of TweetDeck today? Holy crap is this an awesome app, and it's free!
I tried it, and quickly went back to Tweetie. Seems a little too cluttered and clunky to me. I'm not a power user though (I just use twitter to read updates from a few places), so maybe it's not for me.

I can totally get that. I manage two twitter accounts @chorazin which is my personal and @GeeksOUS, which is the one for the website I run, so getting updates for both at the same time, and having different columns for both with everything broken down is AWESOME.

Plus, it syncs with the desktop client, which is the best client I've seen for Windows. Tweetie on Mac still owns on that platform. :)

So to download 3.0 I just click "Check for Update" on iTunes when my iPhone is connected, right? I think I'm missing something because it says 2.2.1 is the current version when I click that button.

I have enjoyed having the GM 3.0 firmware for the past week or so. It's been rather nice to not sit here in anticipation of the firmware!
I'm sitting here in anticipation of the jailbreak now. :D

So is it okay or not okay to install 3.0 first and jailbreak/unlock afterward?
If I'm understanding this right, if you need to unlock, DO NOT install 3.0 until Friday when they release the unlock tools. you won't be able to use phone features. if you're on AT&T or other official carriers, you can jailbreak today.

Did they actually confirm that they'd be releasing the 3.0 jailbreak software today?

So I have a jailbroken phone right now....what process should I go through to update?

Is there any reason for me to update to the official firmware or can I just keep the 3.0 GM that I updated to? MiloFoxburr's post showing the update for OG iPhone owners has the same version code (7A341) as the GM release last week.

I'm on AT&T in the states, in a foreign country for the summer, and have been keeping my iphone in airplane mode for the past couple of weeks while using an old RAZR with a domestic gsm sim--if I will eventually need to unlock, but don't need to use phone features now (can unlock Friday or later on), is it okay to update?

uhhhh, make sure none of your apps are in Categories, then do an iTunes backup, then do a Restore to 3.0

Once they release the jailbreak you can just apply that.

They appear to be the same. Does iTunes ask you to update? I assume it would tell you that you're up to date if the GM is the same.

Nope, you're fine. GM is the final release.

# If you apply our jailbreak when it comes out, you can install ultrasn0w anytime after that. You obviously won’t have cell service in the meantime, though.
So, yes.

Nope, when I hit check for update it says my fw is the current version, so I guess I'm good to go.

I'm relatively new to this whole iPhone thing... will this update let me add more apps? Right now I have to delete an app to add a new app even though I have plenty of free space on my iPhone, which makes me far less likely to pay for new apps.

You have 9 pages of Apps? wow. Um afaik 3.0 now lets you have up to 11 pages so I assume that means more Apps

someone said it raises the limit from 9 pages to 11, but I haven't seen actual confirmation.

btw, if you jailbreak you can have as many apps as you want, organized into folders...

The speed difference in those review videos is incredible. I'm frothing at the mouth at the thought of playing 60FPS Pinball Dreams in portrait mode. I wonder if Zen Pinballs will finally work at some playable framerate too.
