Exactly. A lot of posters on here "don't want an iPhone" because of Apple's 50% markup, which they find scandalous. Too bad it's not true.

PopCap has ported their Bejeweled game to the iPhone with a special web version which is playable on Safari and the iPhone. iPhone users can simply go to Popcap.com which will redirect them to this iphone specific page.

Not only is this a fun game to have on the go, but it's probably the best web app I've seen so far with lots of neat animation, fade-in and fade-outs, etc. Very nicely polished.

Holy shit that's awesome. Gonna try it now.

Hey, quick question for ya'll.

One of my best friends wants to buy my 30 GB Ipod off me. What price should I sell it to him? Take into consideration I've known him since I was 8.

This is what they sell for on Ebay completed.

I'm thinking 120? I don't care about making as much as I can and want to sell it for a good amount less then I should normally since he is a good friend.

Assuming it's in good condition (I'm sure it is)... he should kiss you for an iPod at $120. I think $100 is more of a gift... but... that really depends on how much you like this guy... haha.

$120 is MORE than fair.

I wish we could put that up for vote, because its cost was the last reason why I wouldn't have purchased one.

A number of folks are reporting that crashing safari or the ipod while surfing and listening to music has been fixed as well.

Others report a general increase in "snappiness" of the OS also when switching between apps

hey I have a question...

I was playing around with the iphone today and I was wondering why when I turn the phone sideways, the screen does not rotate. I always have to flick the phone or turn it real quick... Was just wondering if thats normal?

Make sure you're holding it perpendicular to the floor. If it's at an angle, the sensor doesn't do a very good job of triggering the rotation.

I dunno that I would say it doesn't do a very good job, it just doesn't trigger if you're not holding it perpendicular to the floor. Which is probably good...if you're selecting music with the iPod function one-handed and don't hold it perfectly straight it would flip-flop into cover view accidentally, etc.

I sold a nearly-new mini to a friend a few years ago at about $100 less than I could get off Ebay. I guess it depends on how much that money is worth to you and how much he can really afford. $120 sounds like a pretty fair price.

I installed the update too, and Safari no longer crashes while browsing GAF. Also, the iPod no longer crashes while Safari's on either.

Rock on!

well i took the plunge on Sunday. Picked up the 4GB version (really didn't have any use for the extra 4GB since i don't plan on putting much music and any movies on the thing). So far im loving it. Man im going to get fired all i do all day at work is surf the internets. And everyone at work is wowed by the damn thing. I put my poor cubicle mate to shame with his Blackjack! And its fairly fast too, using EDGE in my area for the most part.

is it true you can't have 2 unlimited options on the same family plan?

i have unlimited data on my phone and i wanted to add unlimited text on another phone and the operator said that was not possible. that seems very stupid and evil corp'ish but i wont put anything past telecom companies.

AT&T has an Unlimited Family Texting plan for $29.99.

Congrats friend. Did you hack it so you could add a Clinton Portis Coach Janky Spanky wallpaper?

The 1.0.1 update has also fixed compatibility with some iPod car-adaptors. My iPhone wasn't working with my Belkin iPod Car Kit, and now it does. I'm very happy, this was one of my biggest disappointments with the device. Now I can listen to my iPhone in my car, and I'm not tied to my CDs anymore :)

Well, I just discovered that the iPod will still crash under certain conditions -- it will crash when loading NeoGAF becomes a bit too intense for it. Still more reliable than before.

Still, I wonder if it's a memory issue. I wouldn't mind deactivating Stocks, Maps and Notes if it means opening up memory.

Yeah, I was able to crash both the iPod app and Safari when I tried to scroll fast on the Wallpapers thread. So giant web pages (memory hogs?) are still an issue.

On the plus side, the update did seem to improve iPod during Safari use a lot and it also fixed my IMAP folders showing up in mail when they didn't before.

Same re: crashing Safari.

I was on 3 pretty graphic intensive sites, I believe, and it ended up crashing the app. Only happened once tho... and the likelihood of my using these three sites at the same time are slim.

Other than that.. it does feel just a bit more stable... almost like I'm getting away with more than what I was prior. Keyboard isn't slowing up like it was before too.

Bejeweled and a NES emulator eh? I welcome all iPhone owners to the year 2000.

"the emulator runs too slowly to be playable, and the controls are implemented with an actual controller image which, as the programmer says, "...while cute, sucks." "

Unfortunately any emus or games for the iPhone are ONLY ever going to have non-tactile 'controller images' as their primary control method, and that sucks a bit for games like Mario, although it could rule for games like SimCity.

I think Apple will contract EA to build custom games designed for the iPhone that take advantage of multi-touch and sell them through iTunes. I'm not saying I'm totally for this idea, just that it seems the most plausible.

I just love comments like this one. You know, since the platform is brand new, and it's been out for a total of five weeks. You have to start somewhere, and if that means porting older games or emulators, than so be it. It's not like you're going to see completely new game franchises on the iPhone in the first month of it's release.

The iPhone is not a viable platform until it runs Doom.
That's usually the tipping point for software development.

I'm actually serious.

I won't be satisfied until we get N64 emulation. :D

Looks like the NES Emulator has already been updated and works much much better now. That didn't take long! :lol

I look at console emulation on the iPhone in the same manner as I did on my PocketPC PDA. Neat, but not terribly functional. These types of devices just don't provide any decent means for controlling the game, outside of some RPGs and such where you might be willing to compromise. Still, it's proof for some other things the iPhone may be capable of.

I'm pretty much of the same mind, but considering I've seen several people post in this thread that they wouldn't want an iPhone until it could do MAME or other forms of emulation. I'm not all that excited about this either, but it is interesting to see that it was basically a proof of concept yesterday, and today it performs orders of magnitude better.

You're mistaking Fusebox for someone rational.

Rational, like how jinxs post mentions me even though hes quoting someone else who was responding to someone else who was responding to someone else altogether? Okaaaay then.

Rgardless, theres nothing to rationalise other than to worry about some ifanboys getting snooty because what I said was fact, other cell-phones have been releasing with games pre-installed for years but honestly, the iPhone getting a couple of games wouldn't even be comment-worthy if people weren't going "wow holy shit" about it like it's some big deal for cell-phones to have crappy games on them.

As for pressing on a picture of a NES d-pad that doesn't even allow you press two buttons at once, well if it's "performing orders of magnitude better" then I'd say its also "a few million light years" from being optimal.

But you know what would be good on the iPhone? ScummVm. It'd be perfect. The res is right, the interface is right, its just screaming for a ScummVm port.

So, I imagine we'll be seeing another update to the firmware very soon, to add the functionality to upload images to a .Mac Web Gallery? Hopefully there will be other additions as well :)

I was making a joke to point out the fact that you are increasingly shrill in this thread. I have no idea why you're even still in it, to be honest -- you aren't going to buy one, you aren't sharing info, you aren't interested in doing a damn thing other than shitting up discussion. You don't have to like the iPhone...but why are you here? If you were doing this on the gaming side, you'd already be gone.

If you have a .Mac account, the capability is already enabled.

Huh, can you explain it to me then?

Bullcrap, I'm not starting a system war or telling people to buy a different phone. If you know my posting you'd know I'm into cell-phones so sometimes I pop in here to see how the iPhone is progressing, and when I see someone saying "holy shit" because they can now play an old puzzle game (so long as they go online to do it), well I don't mind risking a bunch of irate ireplies to post my opinion about that.

Rename it the iPhone love-in thread if you don't want any general commentary on your precious little phone.

Hey if you paid over a grand for a phone that goes flat after 10 minutes you'd be defensive too. :lol

Nah, this is my first symbian device (not counting the N-Gage taco) and coming from a touch-screen windows mobile phone I really like it so far. It isn't anywhere as flaky as WM but the platform is still open enough to do everything I need with it.

anyone having problems with their camera? Sometimes i'll turn it on and everything will be this wierd fuzzy green, like some sort of fucked up night vision, and i'll leave it alone and later it'll be working fine, but its done this a handful of times already. I think i'll take it back to the Apple store since its within the 14 day period.

This was a documented problem on TUAW, but there was no explanation as of why. It's not just you.

Could someone test something for me? i'm curious as to how many points the multitouch technology can register simultaneously. The only thing i could think to test would be the keyboard, using as many fingers as possible at once.
