If i buy it, is it possible for me to unlock it and use my sim card, and my own, non-iPhone contract with it?
I think i remember reading somewhere that when you buy and register your iPhone 3g, it makes your original iPhone locked, and therefore unusable as a phone. Can someone clear this up for me?

MiloFoxburr said:Yes you'll be able to use it. Personally I recommend using iLiberty+ to unlock/activate the phone if you are using Windows

SuperPac said:My days of lining up hours before are over. I decided I'd get in line about a half hour before the store opened and if I can still get one, great. But it's not enough of an upgrade where I'd stand in line for longer than that. Besides, the supply's such that I don't have to.![]()
eznark said:Is that for certain? It would certainly put my mind at ease a bit this early morning.
SuperPac said:I'm guessing. I'm in the first 150 people and I'm sure they have more than 150 phones. Of course, it's not like I think supply is so awesome that I could just wait and pick one up after work.
I wonder if there's anyone in line this morning thinking they're going to put it up on eBay.
eznark said:jerk.
I'm just hoping to get one this weekend, but I doubt it.
SuperPac said:Well, like last year they'll be getting shipments daily. You'll be able to check the night before on Apple's web site.
The first purchaser just walked out of the store. 15 minutes after open. Also, a guy behind me is a current non-iPhone AT&T customer. Apple Store employee told him he might not be eligible and to call AT&T of talk to the concierge once he gets to the front of the line. I wonder how much that kind of thing's gonna effect others in line here.

Just bought Monkey Ball and MotionX Poker after hearing great things
Gowans007 said:How do I do this?
and can you use them as Ringtone, SMS and Alarm sounds?
MiloFoxburr said:You can't use GPS without a phone signal?
SuperPac said:Man this line is barely moving. VERY slow. Apparently the store said they have tons of 'em. Anyway, I'm uploading pictures from the line to my Flickr account. http://www.flickr.com/superpac

Keyser Soze said:You could just use the direct download. iTunes is terrible updating to anything right now

Tamanon said:No, that's the site that's not working. It pops up but the download part on the left hand side says server can't be reached. I assume it's just because of the 3G going on sale.

The only way I know of to do this is to jailbreak it and manually replace the sound file.Spank_Magnet said:I have made a ringtone that shows up in Custom list; Can I use this as a text message alert? If so, how?
